You cannot goto foreign lands and expect English standards and we were overall pleased with the standards.
As would be expected the maids and some other staff not speaking much English and could not say much but they did acknowledge us with a smile.
The few problems we did have we quickly delt with, the only real problem we did have was the extreme noise from the entertainment from a hotel across the road where from our rooms we could hear it as if it was outside our door and could not enjoy the view and pleasure of the balcony in the evenings. The pools were pleasent if not small however the indoor pool did smell a little from the shower/Toilets.

This is the second time that we have visited Tunisia and the we stayed at this resort, however we did stay at a different hotel ( The Maharba Imperial which was first class ).

The Vincci was clean and the lobby area was comfortable though quite dark. The food was at best edible although the waiters were very friendly and helpful, the local wines were quite good too.Our room was kept very clean by the domestic staff some of whom spoke reasonable English and were also helpful. The pool area beggars belief with most of the loungers broken and some in a dangerous condition.

There was not much sun to be had because the pool area is surrounded on three sides by the hotel building. The beach however was great with comfortable sunbeds and very willing and helpful staff and just a ten minute walk from the hotel. There was also a snack bar on the beach serving good pizza and chips etc. at reasonable prices (they also served beers and bottles of water brought to your lounger at no great expense.)

Our intitial impression was poor as the receptionist just chucked a couple of registration cards at us and told us to come back when we had completed them. The porter couldn't be bothered to shoow us to the room and just pointed vaguely in the direction of the lift.

Our room was located in a corridor at the back of the hotel and the balcony faced the beach - nice except for the overflowing dustbins and the rubbish strewn patch of wasteland before the beach. Every now and then nasty smells from the drains made impossible to stay on the balcony. The corridor outside our room was lit only by emergency lighting and despite several complaints the main lights were not fixed throughout our 2 week stay.

The bar was pricey and the music was boring (unless you like hearing an endless sucession of Polkas!)

Our only attempt to eat at the Vincci ended in failure as the veggie meal booked for Cathy turned out not to be vegetarian at all and we ended up walking out. We complained about the meal at reception and the duty manager imediately presented us with a bottle of wine by way of apology - a nice gesture. Despite this the meal was still invoiced to us when we went to check out. A meeting with the general manager resulted in the bill for the food being cancelled.

The outdoor pool was a little small for the size of the hotel. Being keen swimmers we loved the indoor pool which is decked out like a Roman Baths. The pool is popular with families later in the day as it has two jacuzzi beds at the deep end. The staff were pleasant and always ackowledged us. The room was fairly clean - just don't look under the bed!!

This hotel was very dark and a bit creepy. The rooms were good quality and clean.

Restaurant staff were quite aggressive especially if you didn't order wine with your evening meal.

Entertainment? None to write home about drinks were expensive and limited although the barman in the Moorish bar was excellent and he was really friendly...

My room was at the back of the hotel and watching women and children in the wheelie bins seemed a bit bizarre scavenging for plastic bottles and food.

The First Choice rep was excellent.......

This was the first time we had been to Tunisia so booked a four star hotel to make sure the standard would be good.

The entrance looked nice but inside dark and the decor very drab. The hotel was supposed to be a four star one but was clearly not. I would have given it a two or three star.

This hotel was supposedly only built two years ago which I found hard to believe, as several areas was very worn and badly needed refurbishment.

The pool was small for the size of the hotel and sunbeds few with many broken. The beach was a 10 minute walk down a dirty road which was not ideal.

The food was bland with not much choice also the staff did not speak much English and some were very surly. Our good rep got us transferred to another better hotel in the area.

I agree with the comments Norma21 made regarding this hotel. I've stayed in far better hotels and I'm not sure this should be rated as a 4 star. The outdoor swimming pool was crowded and small and the indoor pool was cold. The food choice and quality was at best poor and the drinks are limited. The hotel is situated on a main road with traffic outside 24 hours a day and the walk to the beach isn

We went to Tunisia and this Hotel for only one week for a relaxing trip in the guaranteed sun. We were very pleased with the food (two of our party are vegetarian and we had choice) the hotel rooms, the cleanliness and the linen changes - which took place daily. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially if one tried to speak french as some staff didn't understand english but knew broken french so we got by very well in this way. The bar was busy and friendly and most nights there was some kind of entertaining with the animation team involved. The animation team were also very involved during the day around the poolside - arranging water polo - which was found to be very popular, especially with the spectators and water aerobics and dancing lessons on the poolside in the afternoon. A great hotel for both families and couples.

After having read the reviews before going we were extremely anxious. But we were pleasantly surprised. The room was cleaned every day, breakfast was better if you were early rather a late comer.

The dinner at night was alright - quite a varied choice but often the same things each night. Lunch was usually from the pool pizzaria - crepes were served about 3pm ish. You had to be up really early though to get a decent sunbed as most of them were broken - the beach was much better - the guys down there would even take your towels and put them back on the beds for the next day for you.

The supermarket within the hotel was extortionate with a bottle of sun tan lotion setting you back at least

I just got back from my first trip to Tunisia and am still on cloud nine! The hotel was amazing. Our group of 4 20 somethings were given a huge room with 3 balconies. The staff were very friendly, especially if you at least tried speaking French with them. the rooms were clean and fresh towels brought at least daily, more often if requested. Being Canadian I was surprised with the British tourists who complained about more than anyone else there. The beach was a short walk away and the staff there were nice as well, serving cheap beer right to your lounge chair. We had breakfast at the buffet most mornings, the omelettes were made to order and the fresh squeezed orange juice (though you had to pay extra) was the perfect cure to the previous nights wine and beer.
I hope that on my future travels I have the opportunity to enjoy a hotel like the Vincci again.

Having stayed at this hotel earlier in the season we thought the hotel was a little dark.

The food was awful.

The staff at the restaurant were very rude.

No air conditioning as they said it was not hot enough it was 32c.

We were pestered daily for us to book horse riding quad bikes etc this became a pain in the end.
