we have just returned from the royal park early saturday morning(5th july) after a wonderful 2 weeks.
2 adults and 1 child also with another family of 2 adults and 2 kids

weather was great, only 1 hour of rain all 2 weeks

spent most of the time on the beach, have to get up early though to get sunbeds, none left by 8.30.

staff are wonderful, just a simple please and thankyou goes along way to them, if you treat them well they will treat you well as well.

place is always being cleaned.

food was ok, breakfast was best, pancakes every 3rd day, you do have to que sometimes but other people said there is no rush, you are on holiday.

loads of greedy people there, just because its all inc, you dont have to take plates and plates of food and then leave it all.

the restaurant seemed to get there act together during the holiday getting more staff to quickly clean tables and bring the food out quicker also to supply more plates and glasses

lunch was good, you could also have pizzas,kebabs,hotdogs from the shack or paninies from the coffee shop and also goto the bbq for freshly cooked sausages , pork steaks and chicken.

dinner, was good again, food seemed hot and you will never go hungry the cakes are to die for, loads of selection, you could book on the day to go to the beach bbq restaurant or solozpol in the elinite village, which we really loved( try the shepards salad and pork shizlak finished with a honey pancake) or you can book sunshine restaurant but that was from 22.00 till 00.00, we tried it once and was ok.

ice cream available for all with loads of flavours from the coffee shop 10- 22.00 or in the main restaurant every lunch and dinner.

our boy mackenzie(7) used the first choice kids club quite a few times and had a really good time, but do get there about 15 mins before to make sure they get in, if not your name is taken and they will be first into the next session.

as for trips, the only first choice one we did was the little sailors cruise on thursday morning, which was brilliant, for every adult a child goes free ( about £43 per adult). you get picked up out hotel at 8.15 by a red double decker london bus, taken to nessebar then board a catarmaran for a cruise along the sunny beach coast past the royal park hotel and stop by the light house and military base, you will also chase dolphins( right by and under the boat) which was the best part of the holiday all the while drinking unlimited beer and soft drinks, you then have time to snorkel and swim before coming up for loads of pasta and salad, then you return to nessebar, the kids get face painted by a first choice kids rep and get to steer the boat, the captain is really cool aswell, he seems like something out of a rock band.

we took the bus from outside the hotel to nessebar one day(4lev each) and then back to sunny beach and then back to hotel, that was a good day. sunny beach did seem really busy it was like blackpool wouldnt like to stay there though, too commercialised.

We also went to khans tent for a wonderful meal and show overlooking sunny beach, we done this ourselves taxi 25 lev each way(£11)driver gave us his mobile phone to ring him when needed picking up, which was a nice touch, no need to book as they have spare tables around the edge of the restaurant, the menu is like a novel very thick with loads of choices, 4 adults had 3 courses each plus beer and 3 bottles of rose and 3 kids meals with drinks for 260 lev(£110) which for the quality of food was really good. you could have a set menu for 50 lev(£22)adults and half price for kids this was for 4 courses and half a bottle of white wine, this was for the basic food as all the coach parties have this menu. As for the show, it was amazing espicially the woman at the end who can squeeze into a birdcage, a top night out.

We never heard of any problems with towels, but if you do take them out of the room you might get charged for them, remember 2 towels(1 large 1 small) for each person in the room, you can pay a deposit and hire a bunch of yellow towels from reception to use on the beach for your holiday.

we never had our room cleaned for the first 5 days but a quick talk to reception and the reps and all was sorted, she came every day with fresh towels after that, they dont get paid much so the odd 5 levs went there way every so often as a tip.

Be aware the walls between rooms a very thin, the animals ,no sorry chavs, no sorry fellow english family that were in the room next door, like to run along the corridor at midnight bang there door and then spend half an hour swearing and hitting each other, before sleeping and then would start again at 7.30/8.00 each morning, we did ask to change rooms with the rep, but none were available, still didnt let in ruin the holiday though.

Rooms were fine, air con doesnt seem to work that much, but if you leave a tesco clubcard in the slot it will then stay on all day and keep room coolish.

complimentary water and chocolate bars in the fridge for us when we arrived aswell.

Peddloes are free on the beach for 30 mins ,go out and see loads of jelly fish there sting is compared to a nettle bush so very mild and nothing to worry about.

Waterpark was ok, they had just opened the plug hole slide, and while we were there they opened the halfpipe slide aswell, but they only had 4 double tyres to sit in, but as the park is never that busy you didnt wait long. the wave pool was open to swim in but they had not turned the wave machine on by the time we left.

Only trouble was, we turned up at gatwick at 14.30 for a 15.00 check in for a 17.00 flight only to be told it was at 22.25 and always was this time, a phone call would have been nice from them, but now they are part of the tui group, they seem to be getting too big, dont seem to care about the customer any more, so i will be writing a letter to them about the change in flight.

would i go back to the royal park? most probably not, the chavvy people next to us put me off.
bulgaria again? yes but maybe to a different part

changing money in hotel you only got 2.25 levs to the pound, in nessebar by the bus station it was 2.40 levs to the pound.
