Went to kristal hotel golden sands, for my 40th birthday. adults and children all loved it.
Hotel very clean, food was lovely espeacley the beef ghoulash, good location right next to party street, you do get pesterd by peaple giving leaflets out.
The hotel staff very friendly can have a laugh, entertainment, great for the kids, but remember party street just round the corner for adults.
Going back next year.

We booked to travel with Balkan Holidays on an AOA basis. When we arrived it looked like we were in the middle of a shanty town area. the hotel (if I may call it that) is located in the area nearest the market, the streets have no lighting and no drainage, hence they are quite a health risk.
The hotel has two 24hrs bars directly outside the front and there is also a disco / all night bar approx 25m from the hotel. ( Bulgaria has a 24hr drinking law, so basically the bars never shut) The front of the hotel is overgrown and very dated. The steps leading to the reception area have a had a very crude ramp dug into them for wheelchair/pram access but you would need to be Arnie to push anything up them.
For what dealings we had with the hotel staff they seemed ok and had a basic understanding of english.
Inside the building the decor is dated and in desperate need of demolishing. As for the catering facilities - the dining area is not much bigger than your average lounge - it is located on the first floor, so if you do have access problems, everything will have to be brought down to you as there is no lift.
The food is dry and not very appertizing, there is not enough seating and what is available, you don't really want to sit on it.
As for the rooms, well there's basic, and there's baron, these are the latter. They are dated, any damage has been painted over and not repaired, there are two single beds, a wardrobe and not a lot else. The en-suite is a health hazard, our shower flooded the first time we used it and the toilet only worked intermittently. any child using the shower could have scalded themselves as there was not proper mixer taps and if a child had turned the wrong tap off, they would have been hurt.
We spent two nights at this hotel and moved to another within the resort. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We have just got back from a weeks holiday in hotel Krystal Sunny Beach. We had a Balkan AOA cheap deal.
The hotel needs alot of work the rooms are very basic and the front of the hotel is very scruffy.
The staff are very nice and helpful.
The breakfast is awful and we only went to it once and went to a cafe down the road instead.
It was very noisy with kareoke and people coming and going at all times but what do you expect when you pay next to nothing for a break in the sun. We made the most of it and at least it was clean and had all what needed and staff nice.
I felt very sorry for the Balkan rep who literally got lynched every time he came through the door.

We have just arrived back and it was fantastic, the first impression is lovely. The hotel has a great big reception area with leather settees and marble floor, with a bar and toilets also on this level.
The rooms were immaculate, nicely decorated and so clean. There seemed to be cleaners everywere. The food was very good a different choice every day from pancakes, curry, fish, roast beef, everything. I was worried having a 2 year old but he loved it.
There are 3 pools outside and one inside they are a little on the cold side but all were very nice, the hotel also has a shop, internet room, hairdressers, laundry service.
We loved it and have already booked for next year.

We stayed in Hotel Kristal at the beginning of June, the hotel was excellent, I have never been in a cleaner hotel.
The rooms are cleaned every day and people are cleaning where ever you go in the hotel. The food is lovely Bulgarian and European food, I would describe it as food your grandma would cook proper dinners and casseroles, loads of different salads, also nuggets and fish fingers for picky kids.
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the beach up a hill, maybe too much if your elderly or not good on your feet. It is situatad far enough away from any bars to get a good nights sleep.
The hotel staff are very nice and helpful. The entertainment is very good if you have children, plenty to do around the pool and activities during the day, football, tennis, pool, water polo, quizes. Theres a club for young children and also a playground. There is family entertainment at night until about 10.30pm.
I would highly recommend this hotel to mainly people with families or couples who don't mind children. It may not be suitable for groups of young people because of the amount of children running around.

We stayed at the Hotel Kristal - Golden Sands.
We found the hotel very clean, well decorated, good seating area in reception.
Our room was all so very clean, divan beds cleaned every day. While there was plenty of room in the dining room the food could have been better and more choice.
Good central, quiet location in easy reach of everything.
The staff were helpful and freindly.
The entertainment was more for children than adults.

Just back from this hotel and had a ball. The hotel is spotless cleaners everywhere.
We found the food varied some days it was great others not so good, but never went hungry.
The location is great only about a 5 minute walk to beach and main shopping area discos bars eating places and good at night because you are far enough away from all the nightlife.
The hotel staff were very friendly, leaving things in your rooms like roses, made boats and different things out of the towels for the kids.
The only down side I felt to this hotel was entertainment plenty for kids not much for adults, the kids club was for 3/8 year olds nothing for older kids. The sessions were from 10/12, 1/3, 5/7, 9/11 the later one they had like a pizza party chocolate party and watched videos my kids loved it. They also played cash bingo every night which was worth winning if you were lucky.
I would go back to this hotel.

Hotel itself was very clean staff very friendly.
The food was ok most days but we did eat out quite a lot
as the menu was not very good some nights the breakfast was ok if you liked smoked bacon.
Not having any kids with us I can only comment on what was said by the couple who said they were very happy entainment was not good in the evening it was a kids disco followed by bingo a couple of live shows (in a fortnight ) pool side music till 11pm that was it.
Eating out was cheap we found a place just at the back door of our hotel called The Dallas Country Club do not be put off by the appearence 12 of us eat there one evening for 158 levs about

We stayed at Kristal 2, the older part couldnt see any differance to the other, they where scruffy to say the least, Basic yes comfortable no. Noisey yes.
Staff helpfull yes, breakfast ok, if you like salad for your first meal of the day.
The Hotel was in need of much renovation to bring it up to a moderate standard, a coat of paint, the noise from the outside bars which hasn't been ponted out are within 40 feet
of the rooms.
The back of the hotel looks onto local housing complex which is worse than that of the hotel
I will go back to Bulgaria but never stay in that hovel again, for a few pounds extra its worth it.
We tried and were told only if we paid the full two weeks hotel price again, so we stayed and put up with it.

this hotel is scruffy and dated. it has no facilities and no pool apart from a 24 hour bar which plays music and is regularly used by hotel guests , guaranteed to keep you awake. the beds are hard and uncomfortable.there was noise all night from guests coming back to the hotel anytime between midnight and seven o clock.gypsy children hang around the back of the hotel begging for money and food when you go on the balcony. the breakfast is edible but the furniture in the breakfast room is worn and old.the hotel staff were friendly apart from the night reception staff.the cleaners worked hard to keep the rooms clean and towels and bedding were changed regularly.i would not visit this hotel again.
