The hotel was VERY isolated. It was near on impossible to go anywhere else as there was no public transport apart from a "red bus" which was supposed to be hop on-hop off but it failed to turn up most of the time.

The hotel room was INFESTED with bed bugs! Everyone pin pointed it down to the beds. There were also sand flies and "fleas" around the pool area. It made sunbathing unbearable.

The staff were most unhelpful unless you were prepared to tip for everything they did for you. Our Rep was the only person who took time to pass the time of day without expecting to be paid.

We had things stolen from our room and when we complained the cleaner said she thought we had left the stuff for her as a present! She did return some of it.

The weather was fantastic after the first 2 days but like I said due to the bugs it was impossible to enjoy it.

Most people on our flights agreed they WOULD NOT be going back to Cuba.

The Hotel was fantastic, the staff where very friendly, the food menu was varied and catered for everyone. The Japanese Restaurant is a definite must to visit.

The beach is beautiful and the views out to sea are outstanding, you can walk for quite a way out and the sea is only knee deep.

The Hotel is certainly great value for money. Two weeks of all inclusive food, drink and sunshine we were in heaven.

Our rooms were always kept clean and nothing was too much for all the staff at the hotel.

First visit to Cuba and didn't know what to expect. The hotel was very good, straight on to the white sandy beach which was cleared of seaweed every day. The staff were all very friendly and couldn't do enough to help you.

The food, as with any other all inclusve resorts I've visited, did become a little repetitive after two weeks but the quality was very good. We only visited two of the a la carte restaurants - the Japanese was particularly good.

The entertainment staff at the complex had a large and varied package of things to do throughout the day, but they weren't "in your face" about getting you to participate, if you didn't want to they didn't hassle you. At night the shows were quite well put together and there was a disco if you wanted it.

All in all I would recommend this hotel to people. The only downside is that it is quite isolated from the other hotels in the resort although there are taxis and a bus service

What a nightmare. Hotel filthy.

Dead flies getting ate by ants in our room, still there after days of telling maid. Was rushed to hospital by ambulance after being bed ridden with suspect food poisoning. In bed for 8 days, told at hospital I had infection. Would not tell me what infection was caused by.

Leave that up to you...symptoms..running to loo, stomach cramps, vomiting, muscle aches, fever..bla bla bla. Food poisoning. There were at least 30 people ill at hotel. I have never been that ill ever before. Was given antibiotics. Demanded to be moved to another hotel. Was moved to El Senador hotel. Witnessed on a daily basis more and more people arriving at El Senador hotel from Playa Coco hotel, nobody was happy with Playa Coco hotel. Everybody knew somebody that had been ill there.

Disgusting. After a few days at El Senador hotel, at least 10 people had clothes stolen from their rooms. Terrible holiday. I am writing a very nasy letter to Thomas Cook. sSaw my own doctor when I arrived home. Explained my symptoms to her, she seems to think that it sounds like I had samonella poisoning. Awaiting test results. Have had to stay off work untill I get the all-clear, as I work in the food industry.

Just back from 2 weeks at the hotel Cayo Coco. Had read some of the reviews before I went and chose to make my own mind up.

Buffet restaurant was good and even if you were a fussy eater there was always something for everyone as the choice was excellent. Visited the 3 restuarants, Japanese, Italian and seafood and all were excellent.

2 pools at the hotel and always chose the quieter but if you wanted to join in with pool games then the larger of the two pools is for you.

Beach was excellent with snack bar situated on the beach and the sea water was like walking into a hot bath.

Entertainment consisted of a show every night that lasted an hour not up to much but the professional dancers were excellent. There was a disco in the hotel but it was mainly occupied by the teenagers. Hotel had a piano bar where most people went at night, but after midnight the bars were deserted.

The staff couldn

We were worried but it turned out to be the best holiday we have had for a very long time.

The room was clean and very spacious, even with a third bed - we would excitedly open the door to see what animals our towels had been artistically folded into each day!

The beach was fantastic with safe, warm, clear sea. There were a few flat rocks directly in front of the beach bar which were great for the less confident snorkellers. To the right, towards the watersports, there was soft white sand for as far out as you can stand.

You can walk for miles along the beach in either direction without seeing anyone - gives you a wonderful opportuntiy to appreciate the amazing wildlife.

The buffet selections were vast with some freshly cooked to order (omelettes and eggs at breakfast and seafood, meat and pasta at dinner). The speciality restaurants were great too - especially the Japanese.

The hotel staff were really friendly and went out of their way to accommodate your every need - please and thank you goes a very long way.

I did not stay at this hotel as after having booked I read the reviews [yes ,how stupid !].
However I made a big fuss with the travel agent, in my home town of Harrogate, who was totally useless [not thomas cook]and managed to get the resort changed to the EL SENADOR.

At the El Senador we met some people who had moved from the PLAYA COCO after having to pay a considerable amount of extra money as they were disgusted with the resort.

They also told us that many of the holiday makers had been trying to get an earlier flight home as they were so unhappy at this resort.

Thomas Cook UK refused to admit there were problems with the hotel and was I pleased we had changed our holiday. Even the rep on our resort Kim lied about it, she probably didn,t think we'd communicate with the other holiday makers, silly girl , she was quite useless.

I would never take a Thomas Cook holiday again. I have never experienced such an uncomfortable flight in my life and I fly an awful lot with my work. I flew with first choice to the Dominican and it was far better.
Good luck.

THE FLIGHT

The flight from Manchester on the A330 Airbus was not as bad as expected for a charter flight; the plane was even ahead of schedule. One big plus was the seat back TVs. Slight problem on arrival the Captain didn

Very disappointing. The hotel is situated inbetween 2 mangrove swamps. We were inundated with mosquitos and just about everyone we saw bitten multiples times. We are experienced travellers to the carribean and have never encountered the likes of this before. The hotel is supposed (at time of writing) to be 7 months old. Seals around the bath were black and rotting, upstairs shower leaked into our room. No waste bins in the rooms. Staff only did the minimum amount of service for you unless you tipped heavily, which as we saved hard to pay for this holiday we didnt feel we should have to tip everytime we got a drink. Staff begged for english football t shirts to sell for extra money. We dont expect to be hassled like this in a 4* hotel.
