Cleopatra Palace (part of Mare Nostrum Resort)

Staff excellent, efficient and friendly. We had problems initially as our original room was not fit to be used. Where the tap to bath should have been, was a hole in the wall, with debris in bath. I also had to complain about breakfast being cold. Not good for 5 star hotel. Two separate bottles of champagne (Cava) followed, inc one on our last day.

We only ate breakfast in hotel and it was OK but not what one should expect in 5 star.

Location is excellent

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel.

The room, the breakfast, the staff, the grounds everything was as we expected.

We will go back.

My family and I have stayed three times at this hotel which reflects just how good the standards and location are.

My husband and young daughter had a suite which was very comfortable and nice having two rooms so the child can sleep and we can still be up the only downside was this resulted in the bedroom being very small and having to clamber over beds to move as oposed toone big standard room.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was excellent with eggs cooked to order and crepes of all varieties, great selection of breads, seasonal fruits, pastries even french fries if your stomach allows at the time of day washes down with a glass of champagne.

Did not take an evening meal in the hotel as it did not appear to cater for the tastes of young children.

The pool area was immaculate with plenty of sunbeds in tip top condition and a fresh supply of clean tiles, the childrens pool could be bigger really just like a big bath.

We have visited three times and would go again but now with two children even though the hotel has interconnecting rooms they will not guarantee them when booking which is no good for us but otherwise excellent.

The Hotel has a very good recption area and internal features throughout, staff, cleanliness and quality of the internal fixtures is all 5 star. The food although very good quality the selection was limited on some nights with a lot of the dishes very much the same being meat and gravy. My wife is vegeterian and on most nights she had no main dish to choose and had to have a salad selected from the starters, its also a little poor mixing meat with the salads as this further limits the choice.
The entertainment was good and we watched this 4 nights from 7 but once the main show starts at 21:30 in the night club area they piano stops in the main bar so you either sit in silence or have to move into the night club which although very nice is a little dark if you want a drink and a chat.
Its a good Hotel and I'm sure anybody going would have a very nice time but for the money there is better available and the sister Hotel the Jardin Tropical is a fraction cheaper and in our opinion a better hotel.

I must admit to having concerns when we drew up outside the hotel on our arrival. The exterior orange colour of the hotel did its best to disguise 'what lay beneath'! We were greeted by the receptionist who was extremely friendly and efficient. She took all our details and then directed us to the bar for a complimentary glass of champagne (very nice).

We were escorted to our room, which was clean and spacious. We have stayed in some nice hotels and this room was up there with the rest. Wine and fruit from the management provided.

Nice outlook onto the gardens, although we were worried that the waterfall outside of our room would keep us awake (no worries, it was turned off at 10pm).

Breakfast was buffet style and eggs cooked on order. Never found a hotel yet that has been able to provide a hot breakfast, so doubt I can complain about this one.

Entertainment adequate, piano player in the bar before dinner and 'nightclub' with typical hotel acts after dinner.

Nice hotel, only downside were the timeshare reps outside the hotel gates and the man at the banana restaurant who tried to 'drag us in' at every opportunity. Shame, but that put us off going back again. If you're strong enough to tell them to go away (!) ..... worth a stay!
