This hotel is not seriously bad but rather the opposite. I had a wonderful time here. There are new caterers in and the food is lovely.

The hotel was very clean and the maids came regularly. The location is good. Great beach near by and I could walk to Veronicas in about 15 minutes.

The staff were just fantastic what a great bunch of people. They try very hard with the entertainment and take pride in their hotel. I would return as I got this hotel at a good price and it surpassed my expectations.

Great place to stay!

We arrived at Caledonia at about 2 in the morning and being all inclusive we expected at least a cup of tea or a chance of something to drink when we got there. But instead had to get money changed and had great difficulty using the vending machines within the foyer, but got some eventually.

Got in our room, which was no. 512, the appartment itself had 3 floors which gave us plenty of room. As soon as we got into the bathroom, saw the biggest cockroach EVER perched on the wall, which didnt bother me but was a bit off putting for the girlfriend. We thought this was maybe a one off but saw at least 3 a day in the appartment, girlfriend even woke up with one on her leg!!!

The room was "cleaned" every other day, but not the floor it seemed, we could walk bare foot from the bottom floor upstairs and end up with black feet!! All the maids seemed to do was make the beds and replace towels every now and again. It only seemed to be the room which was dirty, everywhere else seemed to be spotless, hours were spent in the morning cleaning the pool area.

The food could not be faulted, there was normally something for everyone at every meal time. But the snacks were limited and were only available for a few hours a day, and ended at 5.30, so after the evening meal ended at 9, couldnt get anything else to eat till breakfast.

The staff were friendly, and all made an effort to speak english, look out for the bloke behind the bar with spikey hair, hes a bit of a wind up.

The entertainment was good and varied, the Elvis impersonator was a good laugh.

The location of the hotel was OK, but at the top of a fairly steep hill, not recommended for people with walking difficulties, about 10-15 mins to the beach, but down like an alley way, nice walk in the day. Its a long way off Veronicas strip if you go for the clubs, taxi is best bet, but watch they dont rob you, should only cost 5 euros, if they charge more, say your a resident, which we found out from a PR. They have a magic button that once you pull up, they press and it doubles the price on the meter!!!!

Overall, the hotel was OK, if it wasnt for the cleanliness of the room and the cockroaches we would go back.

Our accommodation should have been condemned and by UK standards would have been.

Couldn't get into our room on arrival, had to wait for three hours whilst they were painting the walls! Kitchen was unbelievably filthy. Cooker was so grimey you would have been ashamed to have it displayed in a skip. The fridge door was hanging off; we assumed that it must have been vandalised.

Many parts of the walls had obviously been repaired frequently and we were later to discover why when our shower leaked through the ceiling, around the light switch and into the kitchen below. We complained on three occasions until on the day before we were leaving to return home a member of their maintenace staff arrived to slap on a new layer of plaster and 'reassure' us that it would dry out (as no doubt it had done on many previous occasion).

One family were about to bath one of their children when the bathroom ceiling collapsed into the bath. We only had three visits from the housekeeping staff during our week away (no doubt they are fighting a losing battle)!

The buffet style food was varied and well presented with a choice of salads, soups and hot meals. The steam cabinets are not very effective and the hot food soon cooled. Most of the staff were courteous, pleasant and helpful in spite of being overworked.

The resort itself offers a wide range of activities and shopping facilities for all age groups. Don't worry about the time share touts; they don't waste their time on you if you smile politely and give them a firm, no thank you.

We heard that another tourists wore socks with his sandals and told them very firmly that he was German! Excursions are cheap if you purchase your ticket from the agents along the main shopping Mall and avoid paying twice the price from your resort rep' The itinerary and coach company are exactly the same.

If you take just one trip, make it Mount Teide; the scenery is breathtaking. I had never seen such an owesome landscape. It's like being on the Moon. The temperature in the resort was a very pleasant 80 degrees on most days.

Some visitors to Caledonia Park Hotel have complained about the motorway noise; we were more troubled by the fumes arising from the motorway whilst we were relaxing in the grassed area (adjacent to the motorway)of the hotel grounds.

We will certainly return to the area for another holiday but will be backpacking and camping so that we can be assured of more comfort than we experienced at the Caledonia Park accommodation.

We arrived at the hotel at 12.30 a.m. So we couldn't see much of the exterior, but the interior looked great. We had 3 apartments on the sixth floor, 612, 613 and 614, bit of a pain with all the steps, but what the hell, we were on holiday. Dumped the bags and went out for a drink. Went back to hotel at about 4.00am.

Got up for brekkie at about 8.30am. and we were very pleased with the view out across the sea. First impression of the hotel in detail was fantastic. As we set off down to brekkie we did notice a few bits and pieces that were in need of repair, but nothing too drastic.

By the way the British workers call the hill that this hotel is on cardiac hill.

Breakfast was of very good quality for a 3 star hotel, plenty of food, English and continental.

Lunchtimes were just as good, with a good choice, as were evening meals.

One thing that I did notice was the amount of rubbish around the pool, but the reason for that is the lazy people who couldn't even bother to get up and put the empty cups and plates in the bins provided as they were on their way back to the bar for more booze, and then looking back at this site they have the cheek to blame the hotel for this. Where ever we sat by the pool we were within 10 feet of a rubbish bin so why do people dump it on the floor by the side of their sun beds.

Here's a tip for all you people who complained about the rubbish by the pool, try putting it in the bin after you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can only re-emphasize what Robert says in the next posting. Cleanliness was fine except for the lazy people who would not clean up after themselves.

Food was very varied and you have to remember this is a 3 star hotel and I can promise you there is a lot worse out there and a lot more expensive. I like my food boiling hot but this was only warm. That is me being extremely critical.

My partner is petrified of cats and there are several around the complex, especially 3 white ones around the pool area. The staff said they only stay because the guests feed them.

The evening entertainment was poor, Mini disco for the kids (same thing every night) but the kids seemed to like it. Quiz which we enjoyed but only 3 nights of the week followed by a round of bingo 6 euros per sheet, then Karaoke (only Kids took part) or poor artists. In previous posting I have read better things about the entertainment including a hypnotist but we never seen anything like this.
The funniest part of the entertainment was on the last night, Thursday, there was a clown on stage with dancing dogs zzzzzz sorry fell asleep then thinking about him again. All at once the dogs caught sight of the aforementioned cats, they flew off the stage in chase followed by the children and Spanish clown shouting for his doggies to come back. Hilarious.

All in all for 350 pound per person it was a lot cheaper than we normally spend going self catering. Tenerife is pricing it self out of the market. Any pub at night with entertainment was dearer to drink in than back home here in Britain.

Would we go back to the Caledonia Park, most definitely but you must remember you are not booking 5 star accommodation.

We arrived at Caledonia Park and was pleasantly surprised. Some of the previous reviews were a bit harsh I thought.

The food was ok if a little luke warm but anyone who complained must be either really fussy or used to going on a 5-Star Holiday !!

The mess by the pool was disgusting and the Hotel staff worked bloomin' hard to tidy up after the lazt people who would have taken 2 minutes to clear up after themselves. We always did. The Staff already work hard and didn't need this at the end of a long day.

The entertainment was ok I suppose. Loved Vanessa Viagra and wished we'd had her both weeks instead of the Parrot show twice but what can you do.

All in all I would go back to this Hotel after being seriously worried before I got there.

Remember .... the Staff will be courteous and respectful to you id you are to them. Think if it was the other way around ......

The Caledonia Park is a bit disapointing with regards to cleanliness as the rooms were cleaned frequently, this only being a quick brush in the areas you could see. One word of advice for anyone travelling with baby's is to take your own travel cot as the one that was provided I would not have put my dog in.

Beds were made every few days but not changed. The towels were changed every other day. Hotel food was edible and a roast dinner served every evening. The location was quite near to resort centre (10 min walk) but really not suitable for people with walking disabilities, and hard work with buggies due to the hilly surroundings.

Entertainment was really good both for adults and children (Vanessa Viagra is a must). All other shows are worth seeing especially the snakes, dogs, parrots and puppet show's.

Even though we would not return to the Caledonia we enjoyed this holiday, like all holidays you get what you pay for this is a 3* not a 5* do not expect Buckingham Palace.

Just got back from Caledonia Park and what can I say? First impressions when arriving were good, very nice clean reception, clean pool area but then we got to room 117 situated on the ground floor. Perfect position, room very very shabby, old rusty fridge, rusty dirty bath, cracked tiles everywhere, strong smell of mould and damp. But when the lights went out, so did the baby cockroaches. Went to make up the sofa bed for my daughter only to find when I pulled out the mattress I disturbed at least 4 cockroaches but not to worry, reception gave us two tins of cockroach spray which we easily got through.

You could always find something you like to eat, although there

Don't go there! It's sometimes better to spend a little more money and go somewhere reasonably good. Where to start?

It is a dangerous place with slippery floor around the pool due to so much spilt drink that is only cleaned once a day and you can fall down the stairs very easily because there are many broken steps on the way down to the pool.

Apart from that, the cleanliness is awful, only every other day, torn sheets, dirty pilows... But the worst was on our second week accommodation, when it rained and our room got flooded. Food not very varied and of poor quality.

I wonder how agencies can sell tour packages in hotels like this one.
