A budget apartment, but you get what you pay for!

The apartment I stayed in with my family was Mare Verde.
When we arvied we found our room straight away. The apartment was very clean, there was even some food in cupboard and suntan lotion for us to use. Although that was the only time it was cleaned, we had to clean it for the next 2 weeks. There were alot of bugs in the kitchen area which was not very nice.
The location it is in is great 5 minutes walk from the beach most days me and my friend went out without my mom and her boyfreind and wondered around.
The staff in the apartment were very friendly.
We never went to the club in the apartment so I don't know if it was good or not but it always seemed quiet in there.
I would vist this hotel again beacuse it is near the beach. I would like the apartment to be cleaned more thoroughly.
There are a lot of cats there but they are very cute and friendly.

Arrived at 4.30am to find a complex that looked nice enough externally however, when we saw our 2 (as 2 families) apartaments we were very disappointed as they both were in need of full rennovations and removal of graffetti from worktops, walls and some furniture. One appt had a view overlooking wastland beside a very noisy motorway and the other overlooking main road which wasnt so bad but the noise of the 20 or so drunk 18 - 30 party goers was the last straw. The large group of people were with yelling and partying, skinny dipping, girls going in and out of males apartments( more than 1 girl for each male) Partying continued until 8am, and and my friend and her young family got no sleep and were infact quite worried about going out to ask them to be quieter, also door locks to apartmetns looked like they had be forced and replaced. We our youngish oursleves and do appreciate people having fun however when it is directly outside your door and no sleep is had it is not appreciated. We complained on the first morning to the hotel to be advised that the police had been called 3 times and nothing could be done as some are privately own apartments. There was a very disappointing start to the holiday, however we spoke to the company who had arranged the accomodiation and were swiftly moved to excellent accomodiation accross the road, the Playa Olid. From the moment forward the holiday was excellent.

After reading the reviews on other sites on these apartments after booking I was aprehensive to say the least, however I don't know whether the hotel has had some work done to it and cleaned it all up or some people were just unlucky or maybe expecting too much from 2*. i have never stayed in such a nice 2*, in fact I've stayed in much worse 3 & 4*! The apartment was large and clean, with a huge bathroom that had a bath/ shower with constant hot water (in fact too hot sometimes it was like safe cracking to get it down to a reasonable temp that didn't burn the skin off you!) and a bidet (great for washing underware and feet in!!).
The maids came everyday to change bedding and towels, and kept the apartment clean.
Yes you do have to hire fans, kettles, etc however I expected that you would, otherwise they'd probably never get them back!
There were some cats around, but if you leave them alone they leave you alone. Didn't see one cockroach which surprised me as you always expect to see at least 1 in the Canaries.
Pools were nice and clean but very cold, some could have done with having some tiles replaced but it didn't bother me particularly.
Sound does travel between the rooms, but no more than in other hotels/ apartments so again that didn't bother me that much.
Staff were polite and friendly. Didn't really see the security guards that wander round the complex at night, however heard them one night when a group of lads were shouting at about 3am, they weren't shouting for very long!! Which was great as we were going on a trip that day at 8.30am and wasn't looking forward to having to listen to their drunken brawling all night.
Can't comment on the onsite entertainment as we didn't visit the bars, but they did seem to be rather keen on karaoke!

Just two of us girls went, me 21 and a friend 20 years old had read some pretty bad reviews, and was expecting al sorts..
As soon as we arrived the security guards pointed in the direction of our rooms.
They were very clean, and at a highest standard,, i we went in a 4* appart in Greece the year before and were no were near as good as mari verdi.
The entertainment was as expected but the hoste was v.welcoming with everyone. There were loads of pools great for the Kids, and Big kids :o)..
The receptionist men were great and tried their best to help you..
It is on a little hill,, and their is a Tai sex shop a bit further down,, which u dont really notice unless your looking for it,, the Xtream park is near,, and the water park is a little further up the hill so u are situated quite good,, there are always Taxis running up and down,, i never ate at the complex but the cocktails were xcellent,, so much so we went back the following year and walked from the other end of the Island t the Mari Verdi as soon as we dropped our cases off,, so try a cocktail it was sherbert or summat like that.. ;o)
Nice for families, and couples and maybe the retired! not alot of young people there,, its out of the hussle and bussle and noise from the centre which is good when ur recovering from ur 21st Birthday,, no seriously it is a little out of the centre but you do get some quiet!! and away from the Yobs.
We went in October the weather was great,, All in all an excellent Holliday!!! Nothing else to tell yeah there were some Cats, but dont go near them and am sure they wont bother you, they just want to Hang out in the Shade!!!
They were 7 pools all tidy, litter free, the calls from the internal lines were at a good rate the drinks were at a good rate,, and the little shop provided everythink needed,, DONT BUY FROM THE PEOPLE ON THE MOPEDS THO...
