Stayed in this hotel for 10 days, and after reading other reports i was very aprehensive about going, I need not have worried, the hotel although dated is clean, the rooms are spacious with big balconies we were at the back of the hotel looking out over houses but through the trees we could see the sea, a lot of people requested sunny rooms but they were on the main road but from about 3.45 till at least 6pm the sun was on our balcony and yes it did get very hot. The rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard with clean towels every day and the beds changed every other day. The pool area is large and clean the sunbed cushions cost 1 dinar a day some people moaned about that but what is 50p per day take it from me it's worth the comfort those beds are hard. Compliments to the entertainment guy Rio he works very hard but you can tell he loves his job. The restaurant is ok food is acceptable you always find something to eat, if you want burger chips go to Spain. For the price we paid i can throughly recommend it. I will be going back.

We have been visiting this wonderful and great country steeped in history with oh so many friendly people for the past 10 years and have enjoyed many fantastic holidays but alas no more well not for the foreseeable future. The country appears to be falling into the hands of the next generation of youth who sadly are emulating the European, Asian and American way of life. My wife and I stayed at Port el Kantoui for a period of 5 weeks and sadly noticed petty crimes along with muggings are rife, the local trains are crime hotspots and should be avoided at all cost. The shop keepers now seem to be pushier than ever and if you refuse to look in their shops you get either mimicked or verbal abuse thrown at you and they now appear to have a silent hatred of anyone whom speaks English. THE HOTEL GOLF RESIDENCE Zero entertainment, the manager part of the family is always out with the girls never around to do is job except on Fridays when you have to pay for the entertainment. Food is extremely poor and tasteless most comes deep fried or if you prefer you can have pizza and chips every other day. Waiters when they do manage to serve take your money for drinks but do not give change unless you request it back. Rooms are extremely poor and tobacco stained most come with complimentary ants or cats. Sunny rooms on the front come with a free disco until 4.30am; the only decent rooms come with a poor view and no sun. Reception area and TV lounge plus both bars should carry a government health warning. The Thomas Cook rep is absolutely useless and should be avoided at all costs, his sole purpose is to extract as much money as possible from you for trips, and his answer to all problems that arise is to phone for the police and pass the book Thomas Cook should sack him with immediate effect. The hotel is described as being disabled friendly but is anything but e.g. cars parked over the ramp, the indoor pool having no steps and stairs to the toilets and entertainment room. Toilets appear to only be in commission when any V I Ps visit. As well as nice you will meet some of the most horrid people ever The corridor outside to the shop is not illuminated and you run the risk of attack or theft. As the saying goes you get what you pay for so my advice is to avoid this hotel at all cost

we went to Tunisia in December and visited once before but decided to try this hotel.

What a mistake... The hotel rooms where kept very clean and the staff where doing more than they could except for the odd one who would not listen to complaints. As for food it was very bland and often it was the same old stuff breakfast consisted of egg and salad, pancakes and sometimes boiled carrots!

The entertainment was not so good you had to pay for one show and others where outdated and just boring.

You have to pay 1 dinar for a sunbed cushion they were just getting more money out of you but the pool was nice and clean and maintained. The hotel rooms where outdated but okay. If you have a room facing the pool than it is nice but any other and there is constant noise throughout the night.

Location is good and i recommend the hotel if you like sleepless nights, boiled carrots in the morning and entertainment that consists of a belly dancer for about 20 minutes !

Fantastic, good food, excellent room service, clean room and towels every day, beds very comfortable on occasins they were decorated with flowers. All staff were friendly and eager to help. Entertainment needs abit working on but we were out most evenings either to the Golf Brau ( which is in the hotel complex or down to the Irish bar (sorry no guiness). The only downside of this hotel is the disco we were right on top of it (rooms 138 and 140) and it could be heard until 4 in the morning but we didn't allow it to spoil our hols. We are thinking about going back next year......

when we arrived we were pleasantly suprised at the appearance.there were only 3 families on our drop so check in was pretty quick after we filled in our forms.
We were showed to our room on the second floor overlooking the pool.It was quite a large room with a double and a single bed which was behind a small dividing wall.there was a big wardrobe with plenty of shelves and hanging space, plenty for 3 of us.A seating area with a small table and also a dressing table.also space in the corner for our cases.fridge,tv,bath with shower and a wc.The balcony was very spacious plenty of room for the furniture and also the airbeds. The buffet restaurant was quite big with smoking and non smoking areas.breakfast was the usual cerials, toast, pastries, scrambled, boiled fried eggs and ommelatte and pancakes.sausage, cold meats salad, cheese.also strange fried veg.water, fruit juice and hot drinks.
dinner was fish, pasta, meats, cous - cuss, veg, stews potatoes, chips.also a salad bar.The cake selection was fantastic.something to eat for every taste.the pool area was large plenty of sun beds you could have a cushion for 1 dinar.kids sectionof pool.pool bar and cafe.ther was only a couple in the animation team that got the people involved,if you didn,t want to they would not hassle you.evenings were low key a couple of nights they had visiting shows like belly dancing or fakir shows. There was also an indoor pool, internet cafe, supermarket and a couple of shops.there was also a miro brewery attatched to the hotel.

We stayed at the Golf Residence for 2 weeks at the end of July. I'd sum up the hotel, and the holiday in one word - Fantastic!! We travelled with our 2 teenage daughters - who are already insisting we go back next year!

Rooms were spotless and cleaned every day, towels were changed every day. The whole hotel was spotless - both inside and out - the staff all work really really hard. Pools and grounds were very well maintained.

The food was ok - not all that much choice. Everything was well cooked and dishes were replenished frequently. Desserts were generally good!!

Hotel is in a fantastic location - just a short stroll away from the Marina, Beach and fun fair - also just over the road from the Aqua Park.

All the staff were really friendly - and everyone works really hard.

The organised entertainment was quite good, especially when you consider that there are only 2 members of the animation team - plenty going on by the pool (Aqua Arobics was great fun) in the day, fairly low key entertaiment every evening, with a couple of different shows a week (Changing Ladies, Belly Dancers, Fakir Show and a Cabaret whilst we were there).
Pools are lovely - but as you'd expect get rather busy (especially as it was 40 degrees + whilst we were there!).
We enjoyed the bar on the corner (part of the hotel complex) most evenings - they have beer brewed on site (Golf Brau, which is much nicer than the Celtia lager otherwise available). Good to sit and watch the world go by, and marvel at the traffic (and traffic police) on the roundabout at the corner...

Would definately recommend - would go back, but like to try somewhere different each year

On arrival at this hotel we thought looks good

The rooms are dated the corridors are scruffy carpets waiting for you to trip over them as ripped in places. So much for soft furnishings wed had grinders going constant drilling hammering at one time we couldn

This hotel was the filthiest place I have ever set foot in. The dinig room had about 20 cups for 300 people the food terrible.

The soft furnishing work loud and the halls were deadly with ripped carpets everywhere.

The rep was useless in all the 24 hrs we spent there was too long until we moved will. Never go back to this place.

Read some good and bad reviews, so went with a open mind. First impession of room was a bit dated, but do not be detered they were cleaned every day to a high standard I have stayed in 5 star which did not compare.

The pool area was excellent and clean. You did have to get a sun bed early but that is the same everywhere, and if not plenty of grassed areas with palm tree shade.

The poolside entertainment was excellent usual games darts, water polo/aerobics, etc; the enterainment staff worked very hard but where not in your face if you did not want to join.

The food was excellent buffet style with penty of choice, the usual moans from some about lack of a good pint and no bacon sarnies but this is Tunisia.

Away from the hotel the port was scenic and surrounded by plenty of resteraunts with a good choice. you do get vendohrs asking for your trade but this is their way a polite no will do.

I did not use the beach much bit it did look clean and you could use the free horse and cart from hotel which the children loved.

We went jet skiing and paragliding from the same beach fantastic value for money about
