What a strange one.
A small to medium sized hotel, there are various standards of room, but we went for Superior Suite, which was modern, extremely spacious (2 bed, 2 bathroom, lounge/kitchen area, well equipped kitchen & balcony) and generally lovely. Great for a family of four. I reckon we could quite easily live there comfortably. The cost for what we got was very reasonable (approx 100 Euros a day, B&B). Situated at the far end of Calis, halfway between the end of the promenade and the Surf Club, you will need to walk at least 5-10 minutes to get to the promenade and/or beach. However, dolmuses pass by frequently (just 2 TRY all the way to Fethiye if required). Location didn't bother us as we know the general area quite well and are relative Turkey holiday veterans.
Be warned, the management of this place is simply dreadful, with random cleaning of rooms and changing of towels (3 times in two weeks for us, the 3rd time only after repeated requests/complaints) and a general Fawlty Towers approach to hotel management. For example, upon arrival at 4am with two young kids, we were told that due to a "technical issue", our room was not ready and we got put in a double room with camp beds for the kids for the night. Speaking to other guests, this was happening to almost everyone with one couple having been moved 4 times. It appears that a huge amount of overbooking had been done. When these poor people complained about their last move, I hear that the manageress threatened them with calling the police!
The breakfast area is too small and cutlery, plates, drinks, food items etc are constantly running out. Have you ever tried buttering bread with a fork? At Odyssey Residence, you may have to try doing just that.
There were no pool towels as advertised and guests were allowed to permanently keep their beach towels on the limited number of sunbeds, creating resentment amongst those either without or those who were unwilling to play the territorial sunbed game. We usually just went elsewhere meaning that (hotel: take note) we spent our hard-earned TRY elsewhere.
We have been to Turkey many, many times. This is genuinely the BEST accommodation we have stayed in, but the place is run by absolute Muppets. The only member of staff to actually care (the excellent Mustafa) is now leaving. I hope he will be appreciated in whatever new role he takes. My advice is check who the manager is when you book. If it is still Jamila Khalilova, then avoid like the plague.
As for entertainment, don't expect any (I think there are occasional Turkish nights, but we didn't see any), but this isn't an issue for us. There's plenty in various other places and we prefer the kids to sleep at night in any case. A genuine shame because this place has the potential to be one of the best.
