We arrived at 5am in the morning after a good 4 hour flight and an hours coach transfer from Larnica airport. After a quick reception check-in we were given the key to our appartment which was in block one.

First impressions on entering the apartment were to say the least dissapointing - not that it was dirty, but just how outdated and drab looking it was and rather basic in terms of self-catering facilities and equipment with a small fridge and just a simple two ring gas hob for cooking/drinks making(no electric kettle, oven, toaster or microwave which for an 'A'class rated accomodation one would expect).

The kitchen area in particular had very damaged worksurfaces and in the lounge the upholstery of the two bed-settees and bar stools looked grubby as did the curtains throughout. We raised our dissatisfaction with the Libra rep and the management and were promptly offered alternative accomodation in block 2 which whilst having only the same basic facilities was much brighter and cleaner looking all round.

All apartments have a balcony with table and chairs.Food in the Windmills restaraunt was quite good with more than adequate portions and at reasonable cost, a three course meal for two with a drink costing about

Spacious apartment with balcony but very basic and drab looking. Curtains and the two upolstered setties(which make up the 3rd and 4th beds)stained and very dirty.

Our first job was to buy some bleach from the local supermarket and clean out the rooms. Facilities in the apartment are also very basic with only a small fridge, two gas cooking rings, cups, plates, kettle and one saucepan.

Air conditioning is fitted in lounge and bedroom but costs an extra

Me and my family stayed in this hotel from 7/11/04. The transfer from the airport is quite long about 1hr.

We stayed in block two which was very quite, we arrived in the hotel at night and could not see very much open, but we could not be bothered looking round so we left it for the morning.

Well we walked down the road and found two restaurants open one of which belonged to the Windmills apt anyway! There is a really good bar straight across the road called Nuatilius, the drinks are really good and it is great for snacks through the day.

The only other restaurant that is open apart from the Windmills is called Davidos this is also a nice restaurant but it seems to be used mainly by locals and you seem a little out of place!

What we did one day was get a taxi to Ayia Napa it only cost

Our apartment was in block 2 room 106 and was a one bedroomed apartment.

On entering the apartment we found it to be very basic and sparse looking but it was spacious. The lounge consisted of 2 bed settee's (that were grubby) and a coffee table with a wonky leg. The kitchen area was a decent size with a 2 ringed gas portable cooking stove, the usual cooking utensils and whistle kettle. The kitchen area had a fire alarm and a fire blanket attached to the wall.

The bathroom had bath, over bath shower, toilet and wash basin.

The bedroom had 2 single beds with bedside cabinets, a wardrobe with plenty of hanging space and incorporated was a dressing mirror.

We had an enclosed balcony with 4 chairs and a table, a night light was available if you wanted to sit out after dark.

Air conditioning is available at a price of 3CYP per unit per night which I thought was excessive especially as the notice on the back of the apartment door (issued by the Cyprus Tourist board) claims that it should be free.

The cleaners came in 5 days a week with towels and sheets changed regularly. The overall cleanliness of the apartment was reasonable.

Our apartment could have done with new or at least clean settee's and breakfast stool covers. The walls of the apartment were clean however.

We were on a B & B basis and the breakfast was typical continental style. Serve yourself for toast, cheese, ham, boiled eggs, fresh tomatoes, 2 cereals, fruit juice, coffee, and tea. This procedure was watched over by the grandma of the family from her seat of importance next to the counter. Her brown dress bares a striking resemblance to the curtains in the apartments. I have given the hotel food a 3 based on a meal we ate in the hotel rather than the continental breakfast itself, although we did see people coming into the restaurant for the British breakfasts which looked nice.

The location of the apartments is on the main road of Pernera with ample shops and bars in the immediate vicinity.

This is a family run complex with also a few English staff working here. We had no complaints regarding the staff although we really didn't have much contact with them to be honest apart from the English waitress on a morning.

There is plenty of entertainment of an evening as the complex has its own popular bar which features Karaoke, and impersonators of Elvis, Tom Jones, Robbie Williams and a comedy hypnotist. Before each main event, which is at 10pm, there is a DJ playing sound tracks and everyone is issued with a glow light that can be turned into bracelets/necklaces etc.

The bar can become loud of an evening as the volume is turned up to compete with the bars across the road. This can make it impossible to have a conversation after approx 9.30pm and really there is no need for this excessive volume.

There is a games room for the children supplying coin operated machines, outside there are a couple of coin operated rides for the younger ones, and also in the garden area there are a few adventure climbing toys.

We didn't use the pool at all but it seemed adequate with sunbeds and umbrellas, although someone did tell us that it was cold.

The complex has lots of greenery with arch ways of flowers and ivy leading to the apartments.

Safety deposit boxes can be hired and are housed in the main reception area, car hire from reception is also available.

In my opinion the accommodation is very basic but clean enough. If you are happy with no frills accommodation then this should suffice but if you like a more homely atmosphere then I would suggest you book elsewhere.

We stayed here at the end of Sept 2002. Windmills is on the main road through Pernera.

There are about 8 blocks of apartments in a U shape with the pool area in the centre. The apartments are clean and very spacious with their own balcony.

We were situated in the block nearest the road and therefore the pubs, but we were asked not long after we had arrived whether we wanted to be moved to a quieter block. Our response was thank you, but we'll be the ones making the noise across the road at the pubs, so it wasn't necessary!

We were very pleased with our accommodation. There was a bus stop right outside the front, so we didn't have far to walk. There was a bar at the pool area serving snacks and had a fantastic happy hour on cocktails in the afternoon! We ate here a few times after coming back from excursions or from the beach.

The only downside was that the pool was really in need of a clean and because it hadn't been cleaned in a while, it didn't look very appealing. Also, the chlorine stung your eyes - their way of cleaning it!

However, this didn't spoil our time by the pool though.

I went to Protaras 3 times last year and loved every minute of it, I went with my mother. The first time we went we stayed in the hotel next to the Windmills, saw the Windmills and decided to go back there as we liked it so much, we spent most of your time there and not the actual hotel we were staying at.

When we stayed here we stayed in an apartment I think, it was the closest one to the pool with a balcony. We had a bedroom with two single beds a living room and kitchen. Didn
