This was one of the best holidays we have taken.

The cleanliness of the hotel was very good. Food was good the location was heaven sent. 3 private beaches, two pools.

The staff were very good they seem to like kids and made his holiday fun.

I would visit this hotel on a regular basis.

We stayed at the Pyramisa Sharm Resort on an all-inclusive basis. This was in fact the first time we had stayed AI.
I was quite impressed when we arrived at the hotel, given a speedy check-in, cool drinks and a wet flannel to cool ourselves down in temperatures of about 50 degrees. Our children had been given a room which was down the corridor from us and as soon as the guys at reception saw this, they quickly changed our rooms, giving us inter-connecting rooms with a sea view. We were taken to our rooms by a bell-boy and our cases arrived shortly afterwards - we did tip twice.

Quick wash and change and back up to the main hotel for dinner. The waiters and manager at the Bora Bora restaurant were extremely helpful, telling us exactly how to go on and what delights they were offering that eveing. Apparently, the three main restaurants offer exactly the same food. The food I can't honestly complain about. Okay, the food is different, but we were willing to try different dishes and we are glad that we did. The children adapted very well and never went hungry. We did however only eat in the Bora Bora restaurant.

Housekeeping in our block was absolutely fantastic and the housekeeper kept our rooms spotlessly clean with fantastic towel sculptures, even apologizing one day because he had been so busy and hadn't had time to make one. He even took the time to teach the children how to make some of the sculptures which they then took great pride in showing their grandparents on return.

That is basically and unfortunately all the good points I can write about.

The main pool: Looks amazing, huge. We managed to get sunbeds on the first day with no problems. You must bear in mind that for the first couple of days you are taking in so much and it's only when you start to take a closer look that you actually start to see the cracks. The pool certainly looked nice but it became clear that it wasn't clean at all. The tiles were extremely slippery and the bottom of the pool was gritty. It wasn't cleaned while we were there. Children were still swimming in the pool at midnight. If chemicals had been added for purification purposes this would not have been allowed. The swim up bar had a seat top missing leaving a stump underwater which was really unsafe. There was also a clear line of scum around the bar where the pool water lapped against it. The first day, we got lucky with the beds, after this, if you wanted a bed you had to be up very early.

The smaller pool: This is where we spent the second week after realising the larger pool wasn't clean. This pool did seem to be cleaner, having said that, we only saw it cleaned on our last day. We did, however, have to avoid the broken and cracked tiles when climbing in and out of the pool.

The aroma: During our stay, there was a, sometimes overpowering, smell of what I can only liken to sewage. It did disappear after a few days and then would reappear on occasion and take you by surprise all over again. Lovely!!!

The Entertainment: What entertainment? Daytime entertainment consisted of morning stretches and aqua gym, the animation team trying their hardest to get you to play darts etc. Evening entertainment was appauling to say the least. A small stage by the pool is where the evening entertainment took place. This was surrounded by a brick wall to sit on. More people had to stand than were able to sit and sunbeds were used to stand on to get a better view. You couldn't get a drink here. The entertainment consisted of a children's disco, with the same songs being played, in the same order each and every night.

Drinks: Afterdinner drinks were available in the lobby bar and also at the pool bar. Neither of these places had sufficient seating for the number of guests. We basically had two choices. The lobby bar, where if we couldn't get a seat downstairs, we would be shown upstairs but no waiter would come to take our order. My husband eventually went to bar, to be told that a waiter would take our order. We eventually got our drinks after waiting at least an hour. When we finished our drinks, someone would come and collect the empty glasses but not take another order, so we were then left waiting again. We gave up in the end. The pool bar, where the drinks are served in plastic cups, was our other option. Service was quicker here, but the small plastic cups were filled half froth and half beer and very often were warm. The other problem here was that there was no where to sit. Granted, there were a couple of tables, but if they were taken, we had to sit on the sunbeds. Sitting on a sunbed, drinking half a cup of warm beer is certainly not what I paid for.

We did speak to our rep about the service of drinks who excused this by saying that Muslims are not accustomed to the amount of alcohol that Europeans drink. I can tell you that it wouldn't matter whether you were ordering beer, wine, orange juice or coffee, you would still have a problem getting served in the lobby bar.

I have written to our holiday company about this who have, expectedly, tried to excuse all my complaints. I am still in correspondence with them.

Would I visit again? Not a chance. Sadly, this hotel has the potential to be absolutely fantastic, they just aren't delivering.

Just returned from the pyramisa from 2 weeks all inclusive. very enjoyable. Hotel not up to 5* but would pass for a 3.5 to 4*. Having said that excellent value for money..

Russians are everywhere all ignorant with no manners at all.. they need a lesson or two in these fields-- best just to ignore them so sad!!

The hotel was comfortable with excellent food, good location , but lots of steps if your elderly ect!!

The sea was fantastic, clear and warm. Majority of staff were very attentive and friendly. Drink was ok!! Find what you like and stick to it!! Beer and rose wine safe bets.

If you plan to go please look out for Monty on the beach, you can book all your trips with him!! A lot cheaper than elsewhere, with the same service and fully insured, Monty was a pleasure to meet, he spoke excellent English and was most friendly and knowledgable!! Not at all pushy and always willing to stop for a chat and entertain ( a true credit to the Egyption people!!)

PYRAMISSA HOTEL SHARM
Having read adverse comments from some previous visitors, we were nervous about staying at this hotel. However, this was not the case.

We found the hotel very clean, the staff, most courteous and helpful and the food and the choice excellent.

The room was very clean and the air-conditioning excellent. The towels were changed everyday and we also had clean beach towels daily.

We have travelled the world and stayed in many hotels in different parts of the world. All we can say is that The Pyramissa turned out to be a very good hotel. We certainly would rate it a 4 star hotel.

Yes, we would definitley stay there again.

Just a word of caution: Do not stay there in the peak summer months when it is very busy and yes, there are a lot of steps although we had no difficulty in coping with the steps. We are both in our sixties.

We stayed in the Pyramisa Hotel in Sharks Bay. Having read the reviews before we went we didn't expect a great deal, but having been to Egypt twice before we knew what we were letting ourselves in for.

On arrival we were quickly dealt with & shown to our rooms. At first we wondered where the bell boy was taking us as we went through the diners on the outside of the restaurant. We got there when they were celebrating the end of Ramadan so all the hotel staff were in very high spirits!

When we got to our rooms I couldn't believe the size of them. They have previously been used for self catering & the granite worktops were still in place as well as the kitchen cupboards! Plenty of storage. In the living area there was a sofa bed, 3 large armchairs a large table in the corner & a large coffee table but there was still bags of room.

As we arrived at the evening we quickly drank the beers in the fridge & then after a quick wash & brush up we went for dinner. We got there a bit late so there wasn't much left to choose from, but what there was was edible. The soup was always piping hot but sometimes the rest of the food was a little on the cool side. Most nights we ate chicken or fish or pasta with fresh tomato sauce which was cooked for you. The wine is an acquired taste to say the least but palatable, forget the white though it taste like disinfectant!

The hotel itself was very clean & our rooms were spotless, the shower is the best I have ever had on holiday, it was a power shower, the only complaint was that he curtain wasn't big enough & if it didn't stick to you water went on the floor so we had to turn on the shower, wet the wall & stick the curtain to that! The only wildlife we saw apart from Egyptian pigeons was a "large" lizard my husband saw in the bedroom. I went to look & saw it was a tiny gecko about 3 inches long! We left it where it was (high up the wall behind the curtains) because they keep your room free of insects we certainly didn't see any ants apart from one on arrival which I dispatched with my foot as it was rather a large one.

The bars on the beach are excellent especially beach three with Tamir the bar tender & Mohammed the chef (he makes excellent omelette's in the morning at Breakfast and marvellous tuna rolls at lunch time at the beach bar. My friend Brenda & I always had a good laugh with Tamir, if we went for the beer he would give us a full glass but if we sent our hubby's they wouldn't serve them, he said they had had enough! He used to give them a little bit in the plastic cups just enough to cover the bottom & said thats all they could have! None of the staff were ever rude to us & they would all have a laugh with us as we tried to learn Arabic & they practised their English. (Two words to learn in Arabic, shakran, thank you & laa, no) as in any country if you try to speak their language no matter how little they will always be friendly & try to help you.

Now for the downside, the main bar in the lobby at night. You cant get a seat for love nor money they were all taken by the time we got to the bar after dinner. If a waiter saw you at the bar he would ask you what you wanted & tell you to sit down "I will bring your drinks" if you were lucky you got your drinks after waiting half an hour, or sometimes they just forgot. One night we thought there had been an improvement, the waiters all had little notepads & were writing down your order. We were wrong, this was the night he forgot our drinks after writing them down. We complained to the hotel liaison desk and she said that there were just to many people trying to get a drink at once but she did apologise. She said we wold have a bowl of fruit put in our rooms but we just told her all we wanted was a drink! This is the only thing that would stop us going back to this hotel.

After or first night my husband said his bed was too soft, we for got to mention it before but only remembered when we came to get ready for the evening meal so we told them at reception expecting it to be changed the following day but when we went up to bed it had already been changed, likewise when we asked for more pillows, on the first night we only had 2 pillows & asked for some on the way up to bed. Five minutes after we got to the room there was a knock on the door and one of the bell boys had four more pillows for us. Thats what I call service. It's just a pity the bar isn't run like this.

We were sceptical after reading reports on this hotel but it was as we expected for the cost of the holiday.

The rooms were tired, but clean and adequately equipped.

The facilities were good - lots of restaurants and swimming pools, gym, bars, good beach for snorkeling although only a small area suitable for the not very good swimmers like myself.

The only real complaint we could make was not about the quality of the food or the way it was cooked, but by the way it was kept prior to being served. The food was never more than luke warm and in the outside temperature (38 degrees), it was perfect for growing bacteria! I became ill on the 2nd day with food poisoning (not travellers tummy) amongst numerous other holiday makers. The pharmacy on site was well equipped to deal with this and after 4 days of taking Immodium, the pharmacist prescribed a course of medication which treated such as E Coli and Salmonella. We were advised to see him by other tourists who where suffering the same. I wouldn't say don't go to this hotel, but would warn to be careful of what you eat. There is always food being cooked freshly in every restaurant, so stick to that and eat in such as "the Verander and the Pizzeria". There are also good restaurants in Naama Bay which are worth using as it also makes for a good evenings entertainment.

I certainly would not recommend it for the elderly or for taking young children.

Even though we knew that hygiene standards were lower than our standards we did not expect our room to smell damp and musty. This was due to the fact that the toilet of the upstairs apartment must have leaked at some stage - hence the reason for the rusty ceiling. However, sheets were changed daily. Water from the shower was sometimes Brown in colour and also watch out for the leeches that appear in the bath.

Food - deserts were Ok however main course was usually appalling. On one occasion we paid to visit the A La Carte Fish Restaurant and because of the poor lighting ended up eating bread rolls invested with ants! Also watch out for the potatoes as what you believe to be herbs are sometimes in fact greenfly!!

Birds also flew in the kitchens of the Pizza restaurant when food was being prepared. These standards did not encourage a healthy appetite, hence the reason we both suffered stomach problems. Everyone who we spoke to was complaining about the food and the way the hotel was run. The standard of cleanliness was rather low although I think they did try but it never seemed to work.

The location of the hotel is first class overlooking the Red Sea - snorkelling is absolutely fantastic however the hotel was sadly let down by low hygiene standards and poor food.

Some staff were OK, but others seemed to be miserable probably because of the amount of hours they worked for such a low wage. However they seemed to EXPECT to be tipped for any small service.

Entertainment was low key. Definately NOT a 5 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. Very disappointed after paying

We have just returned from a brilliant holiday at this hotel.

I was worried after reading the poor reviews but I need'nt have been, although the hotel is a little dated and some areas could do with a little work it is extremly clean.

Our room was fine although the beds were very hard, TV with CNN and BBC 24 and even a film channel. Air conditioning which was excellent with the temperature in the high 30's day and night we were grateful for it.

Bathroom was very clean, always plenty of hot water and a powerful shower although the water was brown when you first turned it on. The food in the hotel was fine, sometimes a little unusual but we could always find something to eat, breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Chinese restaurant really good, needs to be booked.

All the staff were really friendly and could not do enough for you, Hosam the bar man at beach 3 was great as was Mario the chef who used to make us sandwiches in the beach bar each day.

Beach 3 is quieter than the main beach 1 area, but you will need to go down steps to reach the beach. When walking on the jetty be careful of sea urchins between the slats. We bought rubber beach shoes in the hotel only

Just like others, we were concerned when reading reviews of this hotel - how wrong we were to worry. We have just got back from one of the most wonderful holiday's we've ever had and are already planning our next trip.

The hotel was quite daunting at first as it's so large but within a day it was like home from home. The hotel was incredibly clean, including our room, the air conditioning was wonderful (we even had to turn it down as at times it was a little too cold - hard to imagine when it's 42 degrees outside), the staff were great fun and very efficient (especially in the lobby bar) and the hotel location couldn't have been better.

The staff work incredibly hard (some from 6am until midnight) and absolutely deserve to be tipped. The odd dollar bill here and there made their day and was well deserved.

We absolutely recommend the quad biking excursion into the desert - but be warned, take sunglasses and a bandana/large scarf to cover your mouth & nose as it get's very dusty! The trip was amazing, so much fun and an incredible experience - you get to watch the sunset over the mountains while sat drinking sweet tea in a Beduoin tent.... just amazing! And then you set off with headlines on full beam to drive back through the desert at night.

If you've never been snorkelling before like me, then buy a mask and give it a go - you will see the most amazing fish like nothing you've ever seen before.

The food in the restaurant was very good, always something for everyone and definitely make use of the other restaurants for extra variety - the veranda bar for an outdoor grill, the chinese restaurant, fish restaurant & Russian restaurant.

The entertainment was limited so we were told, and took place outside. We spent our evenings in the lobby bar as we'd made really good friends with the bar staff and enjoyed being around them in the evenings.

If you want a value for money holiday with lots of sun, amazing scenery, a clean friendly hotel, a good choice of food and not forgetting the free drinks - then this is the place for you.

We can't wait to return.
