Both myself & my partner went to Miramare Wonderland in October 2005 on a b&b basis and in a junior suite and despite both being regular travellers too many different hotels..this one was by far our very favourite.
From the moment you step into the reception you will notice that this hotel is very stylish and contemporary and the first image that greets you is truly amazing as much of the front part of the hotel is built around man-made lagoons. In fact one of the restaurants sits around these lagoons and it was where we had our breakfasts & one of many bottles of wines (!) looking across the beautifully lit up lagoons.
We had a beach suite and its well worth paying that little extra - from our beds we could not just hear the waves breaking onto the shore, we could see them from the comfort of our king size bed through the huge French doors.
The room we had was lovely. It was what I would describe as contemporary French chic. Within the room we had a wrought iron 4 poster bed with white muslin draped across it, a cream chaise longe, a wrought iron table and chairs with a basket of fruit and wine on arrival, and there was a small kitchen area (complete with mini hob & fridge) and a full bathroom.
The room had a beautiful large balcony with wrought iron table and chairs (no plastic b&q chairs to be found!!) and was simply metres away from the sea. As you can imagine the view was breathtaking.
The pool area is spectacular. It is an infinity pool and so when you are in it, it doesn't appear to end as its lined up perfectly with the sea & horizon. The areas around the pool are well maintained. You can sunbathe in the garden areas or on the decking that surrounds the pool and juts out over the sea. Loungers were v comfy with big cream cushions, free of charge and plenty to go round. Alternatively you can wander down from the decking and you are immediately on the beach.
When we went there wasn't alot of children on site, however I did notice a children's area and pool which looked lovely and was set in the same theme as the rest of the hotel. It was stood back from the main pool, enough to keep children out of the main vicinity, but not to isolate them or parents either.
The site is quite big and there are garden villas and beach villas set amidst delightful landscaped gardens. If you don't fancy walking to breakfast in the morning, all you need to do is flag down the miniature old fashioned train that 'chugs' slowly around the resort at intervals. It sounds tacky - but it isn't - its done in excellent taste.
We ate breakfast most mornings sat around the lagoons - the walk to the restaurant alone is superb as the decking actually places you over the sea! Breakfasts were fantastic. Every taste was catered for from cereals, fresh fruits, yoghurt's, & pastries through to hot buffets with English style food. There was also a chef on a griddle who was making fresh pancakes, fresh omelette's and so on. You would have to be mighty picky to not find something to tempt you with at breakfast.
We didn't find drinks especially expensive, but with a fridge in our room, we were able to take drinks down on poolside without needing to always pay the slightly inflated poolside bar prices throughout the day
I can't really comment too much on the evening meals in the hotel as both myself and my partner tended to either jump into a taxi (which the hotel were happy to arrange and it only takes 5 mins) and wander round the beautiful old town of Rhodes with its rooftop restaurants and markets etc or some nights we just wandered out of the hotel complex where there were endless restaurants and bars to frequent. Nothing too rowdy, just nice bars and restaurants if you fancy staying more local..but there is plenty of choice and all reasonably priced. However the one meal we did have at the restaurant near the pool was very nice.
The staff (bar one member of staff who seemed a bit snappy (but hey she was probably just having a bad day!!) were all brilliant and couldn't do more for us. The cleaners kept our room very clean and didn't come barging in first thing in the morning either!!
We only caught sight of one lot of entertainment at the hotel and it was in the typical '2 men and an organ dressed in Greek costume'!! Not our sort of thing at all, but it wasn't overbearing and there are other bars you can drink at if you want aquiet drink.
This really really is a beautiful place and we will definitely go back - infact we have even mentioned it as a possible wedding venue! It really has something very unique to it.

Stayed in a waterfront suite which overlooked the sea, all rooms are provided with two sun loungers which was lovely if you didn't want to sit by the pool all day.
The Hotel was spotless and the breakfasts were the best we have had in four star accommodation. The staff were always pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for them.
We only went to the hotel bar once as it was very expensive but they didn't have much on in the way of entertainment, though they do put on a Greek evening every Monday but you need to book this as it was fully booked up.
We would definately visit this hotel again.
