Stayed in Qwara resort.

Good bus station with good links to other parts of the Island - cheap and easy to use.
No beaches.

Quite alot of hassle from timeshare etc - could be very persistent. Not much entertainment for kids.

Quite expensive to eat and drink. A lot of building work going on. Dirty in places.

Bearing in mind the time of year, i.e. January/February, there were not very many bars and restuarants open.

The entertainment related to the age group of most of the people. It was O.K. if you were into line dancing and ballroom dancing.

However, the bad weather we had did not stop the timeshare sellers. They were everywhere and they did not take no for an answer. The cleanliness was disgusting. Bags of rubbish left on the pavements, dog mess everywhere, and around the outside pool and around the beach line we did see rats running around during the day.

From what we understand Malta is trying to encourage five star hotels, but Malta has to appreciate they must clean up their Island and look at the state of their paths etc. Correct these problems and they can then look to the future, the Island has a lot to offer but they must up their standards.

I would not go back to this resort again. The best part of my holiday was visiting the Blue Lagoon that was lovely.

Qawra is a boring place with little to see and little to do. There are one or two good bars and that's it.
The " beach" is a rock lava flow outcrop.

Avoid Qawra if you can

The resort has plenty to do with loads of bars and retaurants at good prices. Plenty of Bingo and also plenty of time share touts. Going on a bus is an experience not to be missed, you will not be bored even for 14 days. A really nice place except they never clean it.

Quawra and Buggiba join together in Malta to give the best place to stay on the island as far as we are concerned.

The walk along the sea front is the most beautiful of scenery as you look across Buggiba Bay you can see St. Pauls Island and the Island of Gozo. The sunset over the bay is breath taking.

The bus link from here enables you to visit every part of the island and the cheapness of the fares as well as the excitement of being on a yellow Malta bus is great

At night time the place livens up with many bars providing live entertainment and the clean restaurants are everywhere with many cheap and varied food choices it's hard pressed which one to choose.

There are no beaches in this area but with benches all the way around the sea front there is always somewhere to rest.

There are also places where sunbeds can be hired and also swimming pools on the front which are kept very clean.

We have not been in this area for 2 years but this time we were extremely pleased with the changes that have happened with the cleanliness.

It was greatly noticible in the bars and restaurants and around the sea front where the railings and benches had been re painted.

No sand but flat shelving rock ideal for sunbathing with swimming ladders leading to sandy bottomed water about 4ft deep then gently deepening. Plenty of bars and restaurants with lots of choice. Local service buses take you anywhere on the island for very little money.

The location of the Qawra Palace Hotel was quite good and gave easy access to the outlets in Qawra and Bugibba. It is on the very busy main road and children should not be let out unsupervised.

The highlight of our holiday was visting the Mediterranean Centre wehere we enjoyed an educational experience from the Dolphins, sea lions and parrots. I would recommend this to all as it is obvious all the animals are well looked after and have very good relationships with their keepers. Although the dolphins brought tears to my eyes because such magnificent creatures are restricted by their captivity. But it is literally a devil and deep blue sea situation because releasing them now would not help them. They are too domesticated.

Qawra and Bugibba are fantastic locations, but visitors to Malta should travel further as there is much that the island has to offer. Transport is fantastic and there are many car rental firms to choose from. English is widely spoken so there should be no communication problems - they start learning from the age of 3 at school!
