This was our third time staying in the Karanne, we are bed and breakfast as the food - dinner - was not to our likeing. The hotel room was excellent and the bed was changed twice a week. We love the location as it is a quiet spot with entertainment at the San Pawl each evening. The staff were very pleasant both catering and room cleaning lady. Entertainment nill at the Karanne except in the pub bar.

the food was quite poor,both in quality and cooking.
the room was adequate,but we would not wish to be there at the height of the season.the indoor pool area not good,the roof top pool was still closed and not accessable so did not see it ,so unable to give fair comment on it,the staff tried their best under the circumstances.the Karanne could be a good hotel with the right management,but it was referred to as Fawlty Towers by some locals we met.Malta we like,we have been before and will go again,but we will check out this website before we book in future,and will not be staying at the Karanne unless geat changes are made.

the bedding was dirty, we got bitten several times, not changed all week.
food was inedible-also we werent even sure what the brown congealed mess was, ate out after the second night.
had to clear own tables and set them several mornings as not enough staff, brought own mugs as never any clean cups.
air conditioning unit leaked water.
no sight of the rep despite trying several times to contact on the number given.
so bad even the locals call it the crazy karanne.

Hi we did not have a good year in 2006 see review mediteranea Suites.. \this hotel was digusting, damp,smelly.ceiling fan felt like it would drop off the ceiling,rubish left in the lifts which by the way hardley ever worked, Slime and scum on the top of the outdoor pool. We had to move rooms as it was obvious the room was designed for 2 and we were 3 adults. Our new room we were told was due for refurb and we could see that but it was bigger. We had a balcony overlooking the roof of the un dergound restaurant all around there was a gully full of stinking stagnant water, not nice. The lobby was being redecorated and was full of upturned furniture and wires hanging out of the ceiling we had to fight to get through the workmen and the tools every day. We did not use the restaurant as the smell was enough. This hotel was advertised as 4 star/never in a million years. You can have a cheap holiday in Malta without having to compromise your standards just use a reputable firm not Malta bargains. try first choice or thomas cook.
