we stayed in a 1 bedroomed apartment very spacious with a separate kitchen, clean and spacious.

apartments a little walk from alvor about 15mins. a well kept supermarket on site, money changing facilties, clean swimming pools.

snack bar serves its purpose with games and pool table nothing to shout about.

on the down side the only bad thing that i would say is to request a quiet room as can be quite noisy if suituated by the stairs.

kids club well run and reps excellent.

i was worried about the bridge over the main road and the saftey of children, but this was fine and would not put me off.

We went on a late break, allocation on arrival and couldn't have asked for a better room! It was spacious and cool and very clean. It was reasonably quiet when we were there but at least we were able to get sunbeds every day! The staff seemed nice enough in both reception and the restaurant but we were not impressed with the food there. We found it quite expensive to every where else in Alvor and not particularly nice. Saying that, we would have no doubts about returning, it's been one of our best holidays so far!

We stayed here just before the start of the main season, and found it to be adequate for our needs. The apartment we had was very very spacious and equipt very well for what we needed. I do however agree with the comments made previously about the shop on site. It is over priced, under stocked and never open long enough for anyone to actually do any shopping.

Thankfully, I never ate at any of the cafes or restaurants on site, and after reading some reports, I don't think I ever will!.

I was a little disapointed to find that we had been placed by barking dogs and cockerels especially as we had asked for a quiet room, but nevertheless would stay there again.

We moved to these apartments from another in Sao Joao, we were very pleased with our room although it was rather noisy at night as our bedroom wall back on to a tunnel leading to the club.

The down side of these apartments was the bridge over a main road which linked two complex's together, this did cause trouble when arriving and departing, shifting heavy luggage across to the otherside.

The restaurant was very good and the food reasonably priced, although the staff here were not too friendly. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The kids reps were well fantastic, they made our son's holiday, absolutley dedicated.

The walk into Alvor was quite pleasant there were a selection of restaurants, bars and shops, although again, quite a few had closed as it was coming to the end of the season.

I enjoyed the few days at this complex but wouldn't go again.

Had great expectations of the Club Alvorferias as its a families first resort with Airtours, and came recommended by the travel agent for a family holiday.

The hotel is quite large in 3 storey blocks seperated by the local road (really a motorway, extremely busy), we were located on the older side of the complex, but to get to the bar where the entertainment was you either had to neogiate a bridge with very steep steps or the very busy road. Not buggy friendly either one!!

The apartments are very basic but large if you have kids, a must to have some space. However the reception was across the road from our apartment and the swimming pool.

Never ending stream of buses and taxis all day and night at reception, impossible to sleep. As for the swimming pool , in 25 years of holidays I have never had to queue at 8am in the morning to get a sunbed at the pool - 5 minutes later and forget about it. MADNESS!!!!

Overall a very disappointing complex, which did not live up to its family friendly description. But credit to the Airtours kids club reps - they really made an effort and had lots of activities (even if most were at an additional cost).

Pool area was very cramped and congested, worst to come was the pig farm directly behind the pool area and the smell in the evening - undescribable.

Airtours hold your head in shame for this one.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom in August 2003 - 2 adults and 4 children, and found the staff to be very friendly - especially Fernando the Rep - he spent a lot of time giving us advice about the resort and restaurants, and didnt even try to sell us the usual trips and excursions. The complex was very family orientated. Couldnt fault the cleanliness or size of the apartments - we had two MASSIVE balconies overlooking the pool area, lovely to sit out at night with a few cocktails. The Algarb bar had entertainment on most nights, but have to say that the atmosphere left a lot to be desired, it was like sitting in a dungeon! It they could just sort this out the complex would be very near perfect. Have to point out to Yvonne who found it difficult to carry her luggage across the bridge that there is a courtesy minibus provided both when arriving and departing to take both persons and luggage to their apartments, thus saving the climb - just contact Reception when you are ready to leave. We hired toasters and fans for 2 weeks which proved to be a godsend.

This was our first family holiday the staff were pleasant and apartments were clean the only fault was that we were overlooked by the local hospital, the pool is a nice size a clean.

It was a 15 minute stroll into the town of alvor which is a beautiful place. would definately go back but choose another hotel/apartment only because of there being no entertainment and night.

Our daughter loved the kids club they even provided a evening club twice a week a pyjama party.

When we arrived it turned out Airtours had not booked enough apartments that they had guests for. Some had to be transferred to other hotels- why not us!!

Very, very quiet! The weather was great initially for late september, however it rained for two days and there is not a deal to do at all on resort. The apartments are massive but very very dated and not the most clean- forget room service you're on your own here, we stayed for two weeks and got the sheets changed, that was all.
The staff were great and all spoke fluent english.

My main concern was lack of TV/Radio. I know some of you go away to get away from this but if its pouring with rain its not great to walk all the way to the other side of the resort just to sit in a old school cafe style surrounding with background noise.

I would go to Alvor again but not this hotel.

If your off to this place, or just thinking about it, think elsewhere!

The resort area on the way to the beach is a building site.

The most important thing to note is that I highly recommend you do not eat at the main restaurant by the pool. We both had what looked like a number of small maggots in our dinner! You have been warned.

They had the biggest apartment I have ever stayed in. However, it's very noisy (stray dogs barking, cockerels all day & early in the morning) and bit of a slog back from the beach.

Very limited evening entertainment and fair walk into the main town of Alvor to find a good place to eat.

,The beach is a fair walk too through land under development.

It's all just my opinion - I must say many people love it. personally I would never go back.

I see Yvonne's point but I went in May so there was no trouble getting a place at the pool. My apartment was right beside reception, swimming pool, etc and was only a short walk from town (about ten minutes). There was no TV and the room was basic but it certainly was clean and comfortable and provided everything I needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a restaurant at the complex serving the usual touristy snacks which I found great as I could grab a quick bite before heading off into town.

I was on the other side of that busy road but I took ear plugs and slept very well. Michael's bar in town was very friendly and welcoming and, as I was there on my own, Michael introduced me to ex-pats staying out there and I was invited to a barbeque and looked after. He and the staff did a hilarious karaoke to get the evening going and then it was over to us!

I booked it as a last minute bargain so I didn't expect much but I was really, really pleased with the apartment and town and have just booked to go back in a month's time. It was a magical and memorable holiday for me.

Yvonne is right about that bridge which I had to cross to get to the shops. Wear flat shoes and don't go over it when you're tipsy!!
