This was our 1st time at Dunas do Alvor, and we loved it. It is so central to every thing. The only downfall is that our apartment looked out onto a road so it was a bit noisy of a night with cars and dust trucks going passed, also not a very good view plus the barking of dogs at all hours.
We spoke to other people on the complex who were situated else where in the building and they did not hear any of this! But we did not let it spoil our holiday.
The apartment itself was nice and clean plus really big for the 2 of us. The staff were very helpful and the cleaners very nice and if you asked them to come back later to clean your apartment they would!

We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Dunas and enjoyed our stay.
The apartment was clean and spacious. We never did manage to get a bed by the pool but there is plenty of grass to lay on.
The location was excellent as close to bach and the village. The only down side was we had a room overlooking the road so were woken early most mornings by dogs barking and the road cleaning vehicle which arrived every day except Sunday at 8am.

We have just returned on 7th september after two weeks at the Dunas do Alvor apartments.
We found the staff very helpful, we asked to change rooms from top floor to bottom and they did it asap for us.
We overlooked the pool area and a few bars etc, we spent most of our evenings in the cactus bar which was on site and very handy with the kids, not far to travel home!
They made our stay most enjoyable with the live music from mark! And of course ali's cocktails!
Thanks for a great time.
We would definitely visit these apartments again in the near future.

Me and my family stayed in the Dunas do alvor for two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the only downside's was that we had a borderline balcony (very small) also the cooking facilities you couldnt use more than one ring at a time or the electricity went off.
This was our second time staying in the dunas do alvor and as I say once again was fabulous.
It was in a perfect location not to far from the beach.

We just got back from visiting the Dunas Do Alvor Apartments for 2 weeks a few days ago, and we had a fantastic family holiday.
Rooms were wide and spacious. Our room, 233, had a spectacular view over the pool terrace and open square area from our balcony which was great for keeping an eye on the kids when they were out late at night. Only one critism, the singing in the Cactos II Bar and Pub kept us up if we went to bed before 12. A bit of a nuisance on some occasions! The maids were brill, always kept our room clean and tidy, and the hotel was spotless, not a speck of dirt anywhere.
The hotel staff were helpful, always smiling and willing to ask how your day was, a real credit to the apartments. There were lots of free maps available to choose where you wanted to eat too.
The location was fabulous, we couldn't fault it at all, easy access to 2 supermarkets and there was everything you could possibly need on the block to live there forever! A hairdresser, even a day spa!
Not much entertainment for us but we made our own, as it was a great place for the entire family to make friends! We just let the kids wander off with their mates, why we could have a drink and a chat with ours in one of the many bars on the complex.
All in all, it was a fantastic place to visit in Alvor, and we would visit here again in years time. And we have to thank Thomas Cook for everything they did why we were there!!

Just got back yesterday. We had a great time.
Complex is very handy, with shops and restaurants. Marcos is very nice for food. Cactos is a nice, friendly bar.
We found all the staff very friendly.
Apartment was nice but my only complaint would be the noise!! Young people who were staying on the complex used to hang around on the square until the early hours of the morning- right below where we were staying! Therefore, we could not sleep!!! Apart from that, it was lovely and would recommend it to people.

The Dunas Do Alvor apartments are clean, spacious and set in lovely surroundings.
The staff are friendly and helpful, speaking good English.
The pool at the apartments is huge and set in lovely gardens. There are bars, cafes and shops in the complex so you don't have to go far for basic essentials.
Towels and sheets are changed regularly and the rooms and public areas are kept to a good standard.
The apartments are a short walk from the beach and the town of Alvor. I would recommend the Dunas Do Alvor apartments to anyone.
We've already booked up for next year!

We had a great time staying here, the pool was lovely and the attendant was always near incase of any problems.
It is in a great location about 300 yards from the beach and about the same to the town.
Rooms were always clean and there's also access to a safe if requested so safe keeping for money or your passport.
Evening entertainment was OK, but we ventured into the town nearly every night so cant really report on it.
We would definitely visit here again!

We had a lovely big apartment, very clean and comfortable. Situated a short walk from the town of Alvor where buses left regularly for neighbouring towns if you felt adventurous. Hotel staff were very good and there were a few bars on the complex itself. Ali and Mark at the Cactus bar were great fun and so were Jackie and Marco from the bar by the pool. Hi everybody!!

The position of the complex was very good to get to centre of Alvor.
In my opinion the apartment we stayed in was very basic although clean, but not very personal, lacking in furniture and accessories very basic pots and pans.
It was also quite cold in the apartments even though it was last week in March, and weather was warm outside, had to hire a heater at 3 euros per day. Also not enough hot water, could only have one shower then had to wait for it to heat up again.
The noise from the school opposite my apartment was very loud, and if the bars below complex had been open the noise would be unbearable.
The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The towels very old and threadbare, although changed every day except on a Tuesday, the rooms do not get cleaned then. Sheets only got changed once. Bedding and curtains also old with holes in.
Would say that it should really be a 2 star not 3.
