We stayed in saharah beach hotel in june for a week all inclusive. we had a brilliant time, i really dont understand why people have been giving it such bad reviews.
We found the hotel cleanliness very exceptable considering the amount of guest's. the rooms are fair enough small but we were on holiday and the only time you spend in the room is to sleep, what are you asking for a mansion???
the food was reasonable we didnt have any problem with it, we were on holiday we were hot we werent all that fused about eating salads and chips.the flies were a problem however where ever you go even if it is england you cant expect the flies to stay distant especially in the heat as there was stables near.
the hotel staff we found were very friendly and happy to help, tips go along way just a small amount would ensure you were well looked after.
Entertainment was ok, i cant see why people moan about it its every thing you expect on a holiday, the anomation team work realy hard to try and please every kind of age group and with it being a large resort that must of been hard but yes they did do a good job!
we definetly would visit this hotel again infact we are due to fly out on a 2 week holiday there on the 11th of august 2004.

sahara beach hotel, tunisia. please, please do not go to this hotel. if only i had read all about this place before we went, well there would be no way we would have booked. food is absolutely disgusting, never had a hot meal in 2 weeks, me children lived on chips only. the flies are everywhere! inside your pizza if you are lucky! the staff are rude and unhelpul, we were made to feel like cattle. no room in bars, saw no entertainment at all, found 3 rats eating my little girls ice cream that she had stood 30 minutes in a queue for. 4 lifts in each block, what a joke, 2 did not work in our block and having a child in a wheelchair we were waiting upto 30 minutes for a lift each time. we all had constant runs and stomach cramps. all that money just wasted on the worst 2 weeks of our lives. my husband and i since returning home have been so ill, between us we lost 4 weeks at work. if you have already booked, change it or dont go, thats our advice.

I stayed hotel Le Saphir in may 2004, this was a bad time to go as its only the beginning of the season. The hotel was very nice and the staff where very helpful. When we first arrived. i didnt like it but by the end of my hoilday i did'nt want to go home. It is a great place for kids, there are activies for all ages during the day. If you are travelling with kids I would say for you to go to the havanna bar, they have a mini disco, bingo, quiz, carbaret etc. Its brill. If your going shopping I would adice you to go to the shops around your hotel, if you smoke buy your cigs of the man on the corner(lucky strike), he will be at the corner of the street. Hamammet is ok for shopping but dont go into the medina, unless you are with your partner.lol. The food was very nice and i am going back to Le sahir next year. its great. HAVE A GREAT TIME . . . . . . .. .

We have just returned from the Sahara Beach after having severe reservations after we had read some of the reports on this site. However the hotel was clean and the food wasn't bad at all unless you only want English food when you are on holiday. We did feel that perhaps they could have catered a little better for the children but what they lacked in savouries they made up for in desserts and ice-cream.

The staff in the hotel were very helpful apart from the odd one or two (but we thought they may have been having an off day.)The outside staff were a different matter though. You were looked after at the beginning of your stay (while you were still pastey white but once you had been there long enough to get a tan you could get your own sun-bed and mattress!! (We did tip, honest!!)

The catering staff were so slow that we feared for our children getting up to no good (being looked after by a friend)while we waited for an hour in the queue for pizza and chips at the Creperie and the Beach Bar and no-one was going to hurry the staff up in any way. The pizzas were cooked only in one of the two available ovens, nine at a time and those nine would have to be given out before they would attempt to even prepare any more no matter how long the queue was.

Our children went to the kids club, just one day. They went to the zoo on-site and we were told to collect them at 12 noon. At 11.15 they turned up by our sunbeds saying they had just walked out because they were bored and no-one had tried to stop them! The 4 yr old wanted to stay, however. We went looking for him and he was found wandering on his own, right by a 2m deep swimming pool. Nobody seemed particularly bothered that he had been left to roam on his own.

All this aside we had a great time here and if you go to the Restaurant for your lunch instead of the outside bars and don't send young kids to the kids club and don't mind them only eating chips all holiday, you should be okay!!

The Sahara Beach is a huge hotel, and reasonably clean. However, very smokey atmosphere especially in the evening which is particularly unfortunate for non-smokers, as in our party.I would hate to think what it is like when in the main holiday season.

Beware of porters wanting to carry your cases and expecting a tip in return.
Buffet service with a reasonable amount of choice.
As far as the hotel's situation was concerned it was great that the airport transfer was only 5 mins but there was nothing to do or see outside of the hotel and if you did walk outside you would get hounded by taxi drivers wanting a fare.

The hotel staff were helpful and friendly, especially when they wre tipped.(tipping goes a long way!!)The evening entertainment on the whole was very good, the only problem was that we were put off watching the entertainment some evenings as we didn't want to be subjected to passive smoking.

I feel a week in this hotel was certainly enough especially as we had the 'neighbours from hell' staying opposite us .Although their arguements were somewhat entertaining when they occured in the daytime ,being woken up on our last night there at 01.30hrs was the icing on the cake!!
Tunisia was an experience that we enjoyed but I don't think that we will go back there in a hurry. We look foreward to going back to Turkey in August

I visited this hotel for a week last year. All I can say is that I was VERY happy I did not book the holiday for two weeks! I was very relived to get home!

The rooms, pools and restaurant were dirty, the food was not nice either. The staff I found to be a little unhelpful - to the exception of a few who we made friends with.

As an all inclusive holiday - I would not recommend. I was absolutely disgusted by the dirty enclosure claiming to be a 'zoo'. This was terrible! The animals looked positively miserable and very very cramped. I actually have a video recording of some Tunis employees tormenting and hitting a poor monkey. Absolutely terrible.

We took a few day trips - (El Djem - which was interesting, but go round with the guide!) (Bedouin Feast Night - which I LOVED thought this was fantastic and highly recommend it) and we visited a few other cities on our own.

Port-El-Kantoui was beautiful - the harbour is lovely and you can have a bit of haggling - without feeling too under pressure!

However, the day trip to Sousse has to be the worst day I had! Felt continually under fire from store owners, and one refused to let us leave the shop. I was not a fan of Sousse at all - felt it was verty claustrophobic and was actually a little frightened at times!

Went horseriding on the beach and really enjoyed this. The horses are beautiful (just ensure you tell them before hand what level of rider you are, as I had to swap half way throught he trek!) Went off for a gallop on my own with the instructor and was offered a 'very special' deal to go for another ride with him. Refused this 'offer' but seemed like a decade before my boyfriend came plodding along on his very slow horse... So perhaps still with your friends if you are going on a horse trek!

Tunisia is lovely, but as I mentioned before not fond of this hotel or Sousse.

Sahara beach hotel to us was one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Room was small but clean and adaquate.
View was great over pool and out to sea but saying this all rooms have much of the same veiw.
Maid sevice was very good and very friendly with good english.
2 lifts in each building of which there are three towers.
Which were clean and never broke down.

Very helpful reception, once down on the ground floor their is a lot to look around at and see, differnt bars resterantes shops and indoor swimming pool again very clean, the main restaurant was big and you were given your own table and waiter for the rest of your stay.

Food was very good even my wife and son who are very fussy with food tried most things I myself will eat most things.(Try the brick)wounderful, outside opens up to three large pools grass areas and trees to shelter from the heat, then you walk out on to the beach and blue seas you can walk for miles down the beach, you can even go for a horse ride down the beach first thing of a morning or a sun set ride.

Entertainment crew were fantastic(Johny, etc sisco being the main man)if you want to know anything about the hotel or the surrounding area ask your rep or better still get in with one of the entertainment people, sisco for one he can not do enough for you.

He organised a game of football in his home town for my son and mates he had made whislt on holiday we hardly ever seen him my son is 15yrs old though it was great to know he is being looked after otheir things he did was horse riding, tenis, comps, football, comps table tenis, all we did was laze around just what you want when you have worked hard all year for this holiday.

I stayed in this hotel in September with my boyfriend. We are a young couple, but were more interested in relaxing than partying which was much to our advantage!!

This resort has 3 outdoor pools - 1 of which is huge - and 1 indoor and they are all fantastic, and never too crowded, and if you get bored of them (which I doubt) the most beautiful beach I have ever seen is just a few metres away. White sand and sparkling blue sea - bliss! Just watch out for the jellyfish in high season and the touts trying to sell you cigarettes or stuffed toys. You have to be very firm otherwise they won't leave you alone.

Stay away from the camel rides from the touts on the beach as they won't always let you get off when you want to, and may demand more money than is reasonable afterwards.

There is also a ship bar in the sea which sells some nice Tunisian food, and is a lovely place for couples to visit in the evenings.

There are some good outdoor activities such as tennis, volleyball and table tennis, and the resort has a small petting zoo which is quite nice. There are also people on the beach offering watersports such as paragliding, jetskiing and pedalos for a very reasonable price. We tried paragliding and felt very safe and well looked after.

The rooms are small and basic, but have everything you need, and we were lucky to get one with a fantastic view (make sure you ask for a room with a sea and pool view)

I am quite picky about my food, so I wasn't too keen on the all inclusive buffet which was on offer. However, I survived fine on the soup, pizzas and chips. There is also an italian restaurant on site which is lovely, but costs extra (its dirt cheap though). I would strongly recommend going half board at this resort as if you are picky like me you really won't get your moneys worth from the all inclusive. I did have 'Tunisian tummy' for the first 3 days of the holiday, and i think this was caused by the pasta not being reheated properly. Watch out for that as a few people had the same issue.

My only big complaint about this resort is this: If you are a non smoker you should be aware that all of the public areas and bars within the resort are always full of smoke. This includes the 'non smoking' bar.

Neither my boyfriend or i smoke and we found it unbearable to be in any of the indoor bars or entertainment areas, especially in the evening and so missed out on all of the evening shows. We actually complained to our rep because it was so unbearable. If you don't smoke, only go to this resort if you plan to be outside most of the time and don't want to visit any clubs or bars inside the hotel - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Although you can quite happliy spend all of your holiday at the resort, there are lots of really good trips to go on.

All of them were excellent, and ranged from a 2 day trip to the Sahara desert, to a cruise on a pirate ship with bellydancers and lovely fresh fish. We also visited the markets which were excellent and we had lots of fun haggling for stuff.

On out last couple of days we ventured out to Monastir on our own, and found it very rewarding, although you have to be very cautious of people pretending to be employees from your resort and offering to give you a tour. Just say no!!

I would reccomend Tunisia as a holiday destination, and I would say that this hotel is in a fantastic location, with lots of outdoor activities to enjoy. Although the food and smoking were a bit of an issue for us, we found this to be a common theme in all Tunisian 3* / 4* hotels and so isn't specific to The Sahara Beach Hotel.

I would go again, but would choose half board instead of all inc.

we have been back to this hotel for the past 5 years and each time we have enjoyed ourselves. the cleaners and the gardeners are around from dawn till dusk and although around the pool does get very busy the staff are always willing to find you somewhere to sunbath, and as the hotel is right on the beach you can always take that short walk to get your tan. There are hotel shops which we found just as cheap as going into the nearest town Sousse, and the market comes to the hotel every Friday so you can barter for that extra special gift. The food is good and not too spicy allthough there is not that much to choose from if you are vegaterian, but the cakes are to die for. We found the staff consistant over the years and have always been nothing but helpfull, and the entertainment crew are brilliant they never seem to stop. When venturing out on trips alays take plenty of water.

1st time me ,and my family have ever went all inclusive, and it was great.the hotel was always being cleanned, and the staff were very friendly.,and the food was mmmmmmmmmmmmmm lovely.there was a big choice to choose from, and our waiter was the best.he made our stay at the sahara beach very enjoyable.the pools are the best i have ever seen, and the room were very clean ,and comfortable.as far as i know most rooms had a sea view.the hotel location was bang in the middle of sousse ,and monister.which was about 10 minutes either way.on ariving at the hotel you were only on the bus aprox 10 mins.we never had any problems getting a sun bed,and the beach was beautiful.i found this hotel very very big ,and always busy, and somthing to do.there are lots of different bars in side ,and out side for you to choose from.the day time entertainment was great if you wanted to get involved, and if you just wanted to relax.the staff would leave you alone.
the night time entertainment out side was ok i thought it could a been a little better as the stage they used was very big,and could have been used for a lot more entertainment. But dont let that put you off the hotel ,as there was lots going on inside ,and out side around the hotel on the night time.
i will be going back to this hotel in the near future, and we will be taking friends ,and family with us when we return.i would recomend this hotel to any one.
