We were worried about the hotel after reading many negative reports on numerous review sites about the Ascos Beach Hotel in Coral Bay. Our fears were put to rest during our week long stay at the hotel at the end of June returning on the 6 July 2005.

We particularly found the staff very friendly, and they could not do enough for you. Any requests were dealt with professionally, without any problem. It is true there is a new manager who has been there about 10 weeks, and we understand he is begining to put right any problem areas found in the past. However we had no concern for complaint.

We always found the pool clean, and could see it being cleaned each morning from our balcony.

The only negative point to comment on was the behaviour of a handful of british holidaymakers who did not have enough of the drinking and entertainment, but decided to conduct their own in their own way into the early hours of the morning.

We found the food to be of good quality with plenty of taste. We found any queueing at the bar or restaraunt was very quickly dealt with. The local drinks are fine and we found that when we stayed that Carlsberg was included in the draught beers.

Our two rooms were clean and we found no problems. Air conditioning was working efficiently in our rooms and as with all air conditioning is designed to cut out when doors are left open. Doesn't mean it's broken.

Clearly some people expect a five star hotel at a four star price. We have stayed in some very good hotels 5 star plus, and you only get what you pay for. You certainly get your monies worth at the Ascos.

The entertainment team were adequite, and provided nightly entertainment, yes even bingo most nights.

We appreciate that 4 star rating does not guarantee the quality of the food and drink but this hotel does not deliver. There were totally unacceptable queues (20 + waiting to get served at peak times).

Staff were generally o. k. but overworked and did their best.

The entertainment staff were enthusiastic, friendly and will improve as the season progresses.

Hotel location is very good. In a quiet location and yet only a few minuets walk from the resort.

First impression as we arrived at the hotel was very good, the receptionist was very efficent and greeted us with a smile.

The room was large with a good view over the pool and sea, with interconnecting doors as requested. The rooms were clean on arrival and were cleaned everyday with towels changed every 3rd day.

The pool and poolside area were also very clean, and there were always sunbeds available anytime of the day even on the sunniest of days so no getting up at dawn to put your towels on your sunbed. The pool was rather cold on arrival but as the we were blessed with very good weather it was quite a pleasant tempreture when we left.

The hotel is located on it's own but is only 10 min walk to the local shops and about 20 min to Coral Bay beach. The bus service to Paphos is excellent running every 20 mins and costs 70 cents each way.

I thought the hotel food was excellent and provided for everyone, although it had a very english slant with several roasts and gravy.

The hotel staff on the whole were friendly and would always help if you asked, although they were very keen to clear your plate away, I think they had a competition who could get the warmest plate to the kitchen for washing up.

The entertainers Andy and LJ were great and did a great job with the daytime activities and evening entertainment. With two teenagers to keep occupied there enthusiasm helped make our holiday.

We booked a late deal to stay at this hotel to celebrate the New Year. It is a nice hotel especially the reception area.

The staff are a mixed bunch some keep themselves to themselves and are rather boring and others will be polite and make general conversation.
The rooms in the hotel are good, just your basic hotel room. We had clean towels everyday and our beds changed 3 times a week.
The hotel is very clean and the food was very nice.

There was a wide selection of food on every night and the food varied everyday we were only there for a week so I suppose the menu was repeated the second week and so on.Couldn't fault the breakfast either they had everything you could think of.

All the drinks included in the all inclusive tariff were local spirits, beers and wines but do the trick!!!!!
The hotel has computer games that take 50 Cypriot pounds a go and you can play on a big collection of games they are fantastic, very addictive not only for the kids but the adults too!!!!!!!!!!(We were addicted)

The indoor pool is ok a good size, the Jacuzzi, sauna and gym were a bit of a let down. In fact the gym was diabolical.

The other down side to the hotel was the entertainment.
The hotel reps do all the entertainment mainly by a rep called Simon who bless him, did a good job but it was the same thing most nights, and singing wasn't one of his strong points.

I strongly recommend to book the jeep safari up the troodos mountains with your rep. Especially if you go in December as there is snow at the very top of the mountains and you can ski and have snowball fights very bizarre being in Cyprus and having a snow ball fight but the jeep drivers make it a fantastic day. Brilliant trip that you must do.

I don't think I would return to this hotel as i'm a person who likes to explore new places. This hotel is very family based and often a little annoying with kids running every where.

My friend and I went to the Ascos Beach for Christmas and New year 2004. The first impression is quite good, although the lack of portering is noticeable. The food had improved by the time we went and the kitchen staff made a valiant effort for the Gala Meals, ruined by the lack of any Gala armosphere. One Xmas cracker between each 2 guests was a bit mean! I am vegetarian and found a reasonable selection, but when I ordered the Vegetarian choice of the day just once, I got a lecture from the chef instead about the variety on offer (Pasta and veg).

The ground of the hotel and the facilities around the pool were very good - masses of sunbeds. The beach was a disgrace. Lots of detritus, empty cans and bottles with a few odd shoes. A bit of litter picking was all that was needed.

A small group of children were allowed to run riot in the bar at night. Their part of the 'entertainment' commenced at about 9 p.m. when they should have been in bed and we adults had got tired of them.

Our room was well kept, and, due to a storm on the night we arrived, we had a leak in the ceiling which was dealt with immediately. The management sent us fruit and wine as apology.

The entertainment was dire! The pantomime at Christmas was totally unbelievably bad. Considering it was supposed to be a festive time of year I consider we were very badly served.

I would have come home at the end of the first week if it had been possible and I consider my stay at the Ascos Beach a waste of money

The hotel was generally clean. The bathroom linin was changed daily. The sheets every 3. The room was aging but adequate. A bit of an ant problem at times though.
They refused to turn the air-con on for 3 days until everyone verged on a riot.

The food was fine and there was lots of choice. No large queues, well cooked and a big choice from 3-5 meat choices (or which you can have all if you want), a carvery on most nights, a big salad and fruit bar and loads of cheese and biscuits. Breaky was good too, with cereal, full english, etc.

Drinks were poor and you have to pay for bottled water. The beer was gassy (I wonder why!) but in the evening you got better mixers which helped.

The location for us was fine. A 15 minute walk from the beach and right near the town if you wanted it. I suggest you hire a car (and make sure its a 4x4) and go exploring for a day or so. Its a very pretty place.

The satff were rude, abrasive and downright unplesent at times (all except the maids and one English bloke behin the bar). Dont go here if you want to be spoken to politly!

The entertainment was poor and not of 4* standard.

but we had a good time, no kids and a replaxing, chilled-out holiday.

We visited Ascos in October for one week and had a great time. The room we had was clean and maid service was every day they were also really friendly the pool and bar was fantastic and you never had to search for a sun lounger there were plenty. The area was a good location, bit of a steep hill but once at the top was a good choice of bars, restraunts and shops Paphos was about 30 mins away (50cents) on the local buses. The only downfall that we found was the food it was quite repetitive and soup was like water with a stock cube added but we ate out most of the time the entetaintment staff were alright but if you are young you dont want to spend everynight doing quizes and play bingo but they did they're best. I woudnt rate this hotel as a 4* probably more of a 3* because of the food and watered down drinks.

When we arrived the reception was very clean and tidy but the receptionist was very miserable and unhelpful. There was no porter to assist to take luggage to your rooms you were just told your room number and were told to find your own way.

The lifts were very noisy and very unreliable.

Rooms were very clean and tidy the maids very helpful.

Food was of a reasonable standard but a bit repetitive having said that whilst we wereaway it was Albert

We arrived at our hotel thinking it was great, nice reception hall but a poor bar area. We were queuing on the evenings for drinks was a long wait you would die of thirst before being served.
Not really worth drinking the alcohol as it was watered down a great deal.

The food was great some nights but other nights it was terrible, the staff were fine apart from the odd ones as when you spoke too them you never had a reply.

Entertainment same every night very poor unless you want to be a karaoke singer or shout house all night. And the swimming pool I can say is very nice but on the evenings you have too bare a smell, it either being the pool or the sewers rather nasty too be honest as we would sit in our room on evenings watching the entertainment from our balcony too avoid the smell.

Hotel rooms were comfortable but air conditioning only worked when you

On arrival we found the reception to be clean and at first it impressed us.

The pool area was large and well set out.

Although we were all inclusive we had to eat out almost every night. We were aware that it was only locally produced drinks but they were of the poorest quality imaginable. The wine was the cheapest available on the island and the cocktails were a shot of vodka topped up with fruit juice and there was no choice. The food was of similar quality, i.e no choice and tasted awful.

The entertainment was a disgrace, although the reps tried their best. Your choice was bingo or a quiz and that was about it.

The staff were very unpleasant and abusive. One member of staff tried to a slap me across the face as he didn't like me playing music. This is not a 4 star hotel.
