Stayed in the HVRS from 8th to 22nd July.
Had emailed the hotel prior to leaving, asking for a room in either Block 5 or 6.

We were allocated Room 6208 - superb position. Overlooking slides & main pool, and 1 minute from the a la carte restaurants. Ideal for us - no more than a short stroll from any of the facilities (playpark, sports bar, buffet rest., entertainment and kids clubs).

The room itself was ENORMOUS. A huge bed and 2 camp beds fitted easily into the room, along with a walk-in wardrobe. Bathroom area was great too - split into a toilet section, washhand basin and big shower. It was kept spotless during our stay.

The buffet restaurant had very good range of food, from pizza and chips, sausages, choice of soups, local food, and a BIG range of bread/rolls/cakes. BBQ also provided a couple of times, with free cocktails on arrival ! Fresh omlettes at breakfast were really nice too.

The a la carte restaurants were OUTSTANDING. One visit to each (there are 3) per week, so we ate in each one twice. Mediterranean had things like pasta, mezze, gazpacho soup, veal. Oriental (think my personal favourite, but it was close) did nice chicken satay, chicken/black bean sauce, singaport fried rice. Indian was good for the usual range of curries - Jalfrezi/Tikka Masala/Korma/Madras/Vindaloo.
Service in each of these were EXCELLENT, and the kids were made to feel very welcome.

Daytime entertainment went on all day - activities in and around the pool (archery, water polo, etc) and the zip line was free too. Kids loved it.

Evening entertainment was definitely geared towards families - kids disco, quick game of bingo, game show, main entertainment, party dances, etc. Its all outdoors, which I heard some folk complain about, but I'd rather be in the fresh air (it was warm, but always a nice breeze) than stuck in any air conditioned room.

Two minutes walk down to the beach where there were large "double bed" style hammocks along with the usual loungers - these were usually free all day. Loungers round the pool were a bit harder to come by, but we were never up before 9 and always got at least 3. Pool staff will help (if you're POLITE to them - which shamefully a large % of folk seem to overlook). They also ENFORCE a policy of removing towels, etc from any beds not occupied at 1030, so you get a second stab at picking something up.

The hotel itself is VERY VERY GOOD - the whole experience was made EXCELLENT by the hardworking staff, who will go out the way to assist.

We stayed at HV from 14th/07-28/07 2009.
I would like to start of by saying that we preffered the 'Thomsons' plane, to the usual 'First Choice' plane. It was a far more comfortable flight, with more leg room and the little TV screens were great.
On arriving at HV, we were shown to our room, which as we had requested, was a ground floor room, over looking the quiet pool (Block 10). The room was very generous size for standard accomodation, with a huge walk in shower with seperate toilet area. If you wanted to be really nit picky, you could say the shower area is a bit dated and grubby, but what we used it for was acceptable enough. The beds were very comfy and we slept very well here. Even though we were located next to the lobby, we didn't really hear much noise.
The hotel was very well run and maintinence was of a very high standard. All the hotel staff were very polite and did their very best to ensure you were enjoying your holiday.
You can find sun beds if you try hard enough and don't mind moving them around. Or the towel boys do their best to help you find some as well. Even though people were complaining that their items were removed off beds reserved before 10am, I think it is only fair really to give every one a chance, after breakfast has finished .My only gripe was I don't feel the food was quite to the rating of the hotels 4 star rating. Especially in the main restaurant, I was going to rate the food 3 star on here but I felt the Al La Carte Restaurants just made up for it. Now the food was not the best we have had before (Coral Sea 2008) but it was far from the worst also, however I do feel I have rated it fairly.
Now the In2Action team were great. There was always something going on for the kids and adults. This team actually care about their job. They put effort into acknowledging you and giving you the time of day.
Also the production team, who are your evening entertainment are pretty good. We were most impressed with their shows. They do their very best and give their performances 100%. Well done Sammy, Ricky, Jonathon, Jodie and Russell, you are all doing a fantastic job. The outside entertainment was not bad either, especially the ventriloquist of Britains Got Talent, he was very good.
The only thing here that we felt we wasted money on was putting our daughter into 'Razamataz Drama Group'. What our child learnt in these 6 hours, could have been done so much better through 'Sammys dance academy' in which they would have learnt a decent dance routine, in half hour and for free! Instead of the poor show, put on by this so called professional organisation. Sorry girls but you were pants.
I would just like to end by saying a few thnak you to some of the people we met there. We miss, the mad as a hatter Craig (In2Action), hope you have found a new decent poker group! Thanks to Vicki (First Choice Rep) who was more than caring when I suffered 8 days of a dodgy stomach.
We enjoyed our stay here at HV and if the food improved I could probably put it down to our best holiday so far!

Just returned from a fantastic week at this hotel. The cleanliness was excellent, food good and staff very polite and attentive. My daughter learnt to swim with the swim academy and enjoyed the kids club.
I was most impressed with the bacterial hand cleaners on the entrance to the main restaurant, I am sure this contributed to the fact that none of us were ill.
The bamboo restaurant was fabulous , food great and the service impectable.
The only down side was that most of the sunbeds were reserved before 9.30am, which needs to be stopped.

But on a whole this was a great hotel, loads to do for kids, clean and safe. The pools very clean and the kids area was brilliant.

I will be booking for next year.

As we had never been all inclusive before we were wondering what to expect but i have to say that we had a fantastic time at the holday village, the staff are lovely and always ready to help, our room was cleaned every day, the restaurants and food are great with plenty of choice with something for everyone, the entertainment is a good laugh more so if you get involved with the team who are, russell, jodie, ricky, jon and lauren, at night down at the ampitheatre we got served quickly at the poolside bar and the drinks were really strong, we never had any trouble getting sunbeds in the morning, we did go on a few trips but we booked with aquarius as they were slightly cheaper than first choice. Im sure most people going to the HV will have the same opinion as us with regards to how nice the place is, but there are some people who are really hard to please and would never be 100% happy regardless of where they are.

We are just back today after two weeks at the Holiday Village Sharm and we had a fantastic time. I travelled with my husband, two boys (10 & 4) and my mother in law. I will attempt to break it down it to different sections to try and cover everything.

Room
We were all in standard rooms in block 10, I was in one room with my husband and one of the children and my mother in law was a couple of rooms along from us with my other son. We were on the ground floor and could walk out our back door and was 30 seconds from the quiet pool which we went to every day. The rooms were massive, very clean and had everything that we required of a room. The cleaner was very good and was in everyday, he was always polite when we seen him and nothing was too much trouble. We did have chocolate about of the bar and I think we paid

we stayed here in June 09 and I must say this was a excellent hotel .there was always something to eat even for the very fussy children..for an all inclusive we were quite surprised as to the range of choice of food everything from beef, lamb to pizza or chips..
the drink on the other hand was ok taste wise but don't think you are going to get drunk or even tipsy as the alcohol level was almost non existent.all the soft drinks was just too gassy but the cappuccino were great..
the entertainment was good if you like the butlins type of stuff and ONE game of bingo each night (until they ran out of tickets). the kids club was excellent and kept them entertained all day and evening but be aware some activities are on a first come first served basis as they are only allowed so many children on some things and you try telling a 9 yr old he cannot go in.
the beach is right on the hotel grounds where you can do water sports or ride bobby the camel, there is also small quads to hire but beware they are not insured and you ride up and down a walkway past the hotels and there are little lights all along there if you hit one it will cost you

the hotel is spotlessly clean, the gardens well maintained, the food has improved since our last visit in october 08.

the location is great, right on the beach, 10 mins or so away from the airport, half an hour drive from naama bay

the staff are the most attentive and polite people

entertainment was not as good as last year, however if you take it tongue in cheek you can have a good laugh with them and at them

definitely returning next year

I went to the holiday village red sea in may 2009, The hotel was very nice and clean and everyday you would have some one to clean your room, they will put lots of effort in with or without a tip,the beds were always nice and tidy without fail,I had a swim up room which was excellent because you didn't have to get up really early and go down to put your towels on a sun lounger,There were 2 waiting outside your backdoor.I shared a double bed with my mum and my brother had a camp bed in the corner which was more comfy than the normal beds,The toilets were always clean and the shower was just next to it,The shower is really nice,it was like rain drops. The whole bathroom and toilet was as big as my room at home. You have a walking wardrobe ,which is good because you don't have to search through stuff you can just go in and take what you want to put on with no hassle,There is air-conditioning which is very nice on a hot night!,but watch out for the mini bar they charge you for taking food out of it.The food in the hotel is really good because you have many different selections to choose from everyday and can have food made in a matter of minutes by the chef
