Ayia Paraskevi is ideal location as it is in between Skiathos Town and Koukounaries. Beach is lovely - such clean water and sandy beach. If you snorkel you can see quite a few fish but nothing fantastic.

There is a shop just across and down the road (opposite Kohili bar) which changes travellers cheques and GBP for only a fee of 2%.

Koukounaries is lovely - not the beach if you are looking for a quiet day but at the same time I have been to rowdier beaches! Water is lovely and clean (agean blue) and the sand so soft!

I highly recommend doing a boat trip round the island - we went on one called Efthia. It stops at Lalaria (the only stone beach on the island) and a few others. Gives you a good idea of the island's beaches to explore further.

Restuarants which i can highly recommend is a family run fish tavern on a mountain over looking the sea in Acropolis. It's name is Amfiliki. We had the lobster and spagetti and then went back again for the craw fish and spagetti - so tasty!! (rather pricy though - but no more than one would pay back in England). Another nice one was called Scuna which was overlooking the port in Skiathos town. (you are literally sitting over the water!) We had a fish platter which was very nice.

I will definately be going back to this island!

P.S. the landing wasn't scary at all!! (it's over exagerated)

Platanias has a lovely sandy beach, with areas to sunbeds but also sections for people to use their own beds etc. Watersports are available and refreshments at one end of the beach. Terapins are can also be seen in a pool at the back in the bamboo. Plenty of small fish to be seen in the sea which is extrenely clear. This beach is only a short walk from the Magic Hotel

The resort was a quiet one but it was perfect for us, there were quite a few bars and tavernas and the place had a chilled out relaxed feel.

The beach was sandy and really nice. I wish I was back there now!

Aghia Paraskevi is a fairly quiet resort but has some nice restuarants serving mostly traditional Greek cuisine. There is a bus service approx every 30 mins which will take you to Skiathos Town or alternatively along the coast to Koukanaries which has a busy beach, but there are various other beaches you can get to from this bus service which are mostly deserted. Skiathos town has lots of restaurants and bars serving all sorts of foods, but it hasn't lost the character of the place - take a walk round the tiny streets in the older part of the town. Recommend Aghia Paraskevi not only as an ideal location to relax in the resort but also as a great place which is not far from other places to visit. We hired a jeep (recommended for the dirt track type roads) and saw some amazing scenery and deserted beaches.

Aghia Paraskevi is a nice, relatively busy, 'resort'. (Really just a road with a few restaurants and hotels on it)

We stayed here in 2004 and came back as we enjoyed our holiday (at the Atrium Hotel) The beach is really lovely, very peaceful with sun beds not packed together so nice and quiet.

Handful of good restaurants and easy access via bus stop 16 to rest of island. Unfortunately didn't stay in A.Paraskevi as studio (Roula) was horrible so moved to Troulos which we loved, but would come back to A.Paraskevi again (just not to the Roula !)

Quiet and laidback with easy access to the main town and the other beaches. Public transport was a definite experience. The beach at Aghia Paraskevi is reached by a track which runs past the small church and bus stop, the track itself runs for about 50m from the main road and although its not maintained and may at first glance look uninviting, the beach at the end is an absolute gem with fine white sand which safely and gradually shelves into a crystal clear waters. Expect to be able to walk out into the Agean for quite away whilst watching the fish swim around your feet. The usual watersports can also be found here.Nightlife is low key based mainly around the tavernas. I heartily recommend Avili - set back from the mainroad but its an unpushy family run taverna with great food.

It was a very pleasant stroll from the appartment to the beach, the beach was very clean and not to crowded, we had proberly and hour of rain every morning, that was OK though as we had breakfast at the appartment and then went to the beach by which time we had wall to wall sunshine, Skiathos very green and beautiful. You can get a great meal at any of the busy tavernas, great holiday we will definitly be back.

The resort had about 10 restaurants and tavernas, some along little roads. There was a lively restaurant/bar which filled up very quickly, the food was good, but you did feel as though you were on a conveyor belt here, made me think of butlins to be honest.

In the evening we took the bull by the horns, (okay okay, the bus!)and ventured into Skiathos town ( 1 euro each way). Ohh my! it was fantastic! the harbour with its array of beautiful yachts and more modest boats, scores of tavernas and restaurants along the harbour front. Tiny Winding cobbled streets with yet more tavernas and shops. Bars with big cushions to sit on, sofas and comfy chairs. How wrong first impressions had been. We went into Skiathos town nearly every night and each time found something new.

To be honest, the worst meal we had in the whole 2 weeks was had at the top of the hill where there are about 8 tavernas. That said, everywhere else we went the food was lovely.

We hired a jimny (small jeep) which is a must on Skiathos if you want to explore or even go to any of the 120 or so beaches. The terrain is hilly and in some parts, inhospitable to small cars. We found some lovely beaches, some we shared with goats, friendly enough but they leave you alone and didn't try to eat our belongings.

You must use the Jimny and climb the hill up to the Panorama restaurant on the road to Profitis Ilias monastery, approximately 2.5 km off the main road of Skiathos.
What a surprise! stepping inside for a drink and finding a dark interior with some tables. But beyond that - the most fantastic view of Skiathos town and the sea beyond. The food here is fabulous, whether the home made cakes or a meal, the whole thing is wonderful. We even travelled up here every afternoon for the week we had the jeep, just for the view. Watching the ferries come in and out, marvellous stuff.

All in all a fab holiday and we will return.

The resort has a good selection of resturants, some like your local at home offer theme nights, we used "Alvi" which is just a short stroll from the Roula, it is run by Kosta and his family, allways a nice welcome, and home made food.
The beach is very good never too crowded, safe swimming, and water sports if needed, the bus service is spot on one road in and out, that goes to all the beaches, and Skiathos town, we used a few resturants in the town, our favourate was "Dinos" it is down the main street going towards the front, its run by a lady called "Roula" and her family (no connection with the appartments). It is a loverly town with nice people. Enjoy
