The beach was disappointing as it was so crowded and the number of boats anchored in the sea made it feel like you were swimming in a port not at a beach. We only went on Mellieha beach once, we explored the other good beaches on the island and found Golden Bay much more to our liking and a very short drive once we had found the short cut through Manikata.
We were self catering and felt there was little choice in the Bay for eating out as none of us are particularly fish eaters and don't care for rabbit either! As there was only one restaurant that suited all 4 of us in Mellieha Bay we alternated each night with trips out to different resorts to find somewhere else to eat. The town of Mellieha itself had a few eating places but a bit too far to walk up the hill for the kids. The chinese there was very nice.
Car hire definitely recommended but Mellieha was a good base for seeing many parts of the island from.

One of very few sandy beaches so as you can imagine it gets packed. Reasonably clean considering how popular it is. Water sports and boat trips less than 5 mins walk from Hotel. Town siuated up a very steep hill recomend a local bus unless you are extremely fit. Regular bus service from directly outside hotel reasonably cheap (beware the express bus service is a lot more expensive)

Not being my first visit to Malta i knew what to expect from Mellieha Bay it is a beautiful village a bit hilly but with great views and one of the most spectacular churches i have seen. The resort itself was very clean and tidy and had plenty of small bars and resturants to choose from also plenty of car hire companys to choose from.Mellieha village is a good blend of modern life but with alot of history. The beach at Mellieha bay is perfect, lush sandy beach and crystal clear water (which stays waist high for ages!)Great for kids to play in!also on the beach is a couple of good priced snack shops selling icecreams rolls crisps along with a good sunbed hire aswell 3.75Lm about £6.50 for 2 beds and a brolly for a whole day.A bus travels from the village to the beach all through the day and will cost 23cents each 40p but make sure you catch the number 45 as any other bus is what they call an express route and will cost 50 cents each 90p! All in all mellieha is a great resort for those who want a quiet and relaxing holiday with a bit of hilly excersise.

Melleiha is a quiet resort with a good beach. Several bars and restaurants down on the sea front area but not all open in April. Water sports just opening up and boat hire available with very helpful staff at the Oh Yeah.
Our hotel was in the village near to the church. Most bars and restaurnts open nearby. Steep hill up from the beach but a good bus service.
Arches Restaurant reportedly the best in Malta and we were very pleased with the service and food.

I would recommend this resort for all age groups, families and couples alike.

Fabulous clean beach and sea, enough parking, bins and beach-shops. Also boatrips for the less and more adventurous, though the wind put an end to some of it. The village itself was fine - all amenities eg banks and restaurants. We recommend the Randi Pizzeria (yes really!)where the food is great, service obliging and surroundings pleasant.

Melehia is a lovely village and though the beach is at the bottom of a long winding road well worth a visit. As we went in November some of the shops and restaurants were closed but we like to travel about anyway so this did not spoil the holiday.

Pretty clean and the beach was nice but very crowded and small - I can recomend Stans Bar and Riviera Blue restaurant where the food is good and they will treat you well.

We visited the cafe on the tunny net harbour but the food was both dire and expensive and the service was very poor-very rude staff.

The Riviera blue is on its own at the start of the big hill but they are very nice people-a visit up the hill is a must must take a bus its very steep.

It was nice to see how Maltese people live-its hardly commercialised at all so I'll go back to Malta but probably not this resort.
