Having read previous reviews, we were wondering what to expect, well, we were quite surprised!.
The hairy bacon did not arrive until day 5!. Nothing was stolen, and the room was o.k [apart from the noisy fan]and maid service was quick and quiet. The t.v was not working when we arrived on Sunday, but, it was fixed by Monday lunch.
The food was edible [even though the curry tasted like a 1970's Vesta one!] and there was plenty of it.
Yes, the place can do with a lick of paint but, the whole island resembles a building site at the moment.
Apart from one member of staff who moaned about his hours and low pay [within 30mins of us getting to the bar on our first night!] we found them very accommodating.
We are looking forward to returning for 2 weeks next year!.

I was pleasantly surprised after reading all the derogatory comments on the web. The hotel is reasonably clean and the staff are discreet, but helpful. The food was satisfactory although there was a very much of a muchness about it. So don't be put off by moaning minnies, it's fine!
And there are so many restaurants at reasonable prices. One thing I think Malta should address is the "time share touts" (mostly British) who are quite often quite rude when you have told them a polite no thank you! There were a couple by the hotel who were obviously drunk and would get quite nasty and I found this quite menacing.
All in all we had a great holiday and are looking forward to going back to the same hotel next year.

All the complaints about this hotel are deserved with the addition of fleas in the bed. Air con didn't work, pool filthy, food poor. We renamed it Alcatraz.

I thought this hotel was just as I wanted, got what I paid for, I am going again next year. (Did not like the hairy bacon), but you can always miss breakfast.

Booked this holiday with Malta Bargains as a late deal, we travelled with an open mind believing that you get what you pay for, but hey I have standards and the Venus was nowhere near them.
Entrance to hotel was ok but reception staff ignorant, waited 10 mins for key one day cos he was to busy on the phone.
Room was basic but no complaints there.
The pool area was filthy you can see the black line of grease from the main building to the dining room were they have carried the food across.
Now the food! maybe it would have been better if they had left it in the main building! First breakfast - first come best served, otherwise cold, dried up & very poorly presented. Dinner, same again get there first and it was still below standards but edible. One day the bainmarie had broken down but they still put the food in it (chicken & other meats sitting in it for 2-3 hours) did not reheat it unless somebody complained. As for the floor Torvill & Dean with a pair of skates on would have struggled.
If you don't have any standards & not to fussy what you eat then this is up your street, if you have standards stay away you have been warned.

When we booked our holiday we knew nothing about the Venus/Palm court hotels at all, up even to the hour od departure I was breakin out into cold sweats after all the reports I had read. After a soso flight with British jet and a short coach trip we arrived through one eye I peeped..... not to bad I thought have seen alot lot worse.
Inside ok, given key and had to guess where we went from here, rooms were a good size, and clean, we had asked for two rooms next to each other and we got them.
The food was fine plenty off it and hot and good selection.
Staff.... some were friendly some not (there white shirts needed some daz!!!!)
The location was fine close to everything especially time share reps so be aware they try everything.
Entertainment lol did not see any apart from footie in bar. would I go again ....not a chance as alot of our stuff went missing out of our rooms when reported no one interested, also deposits on items change per staff member, as do bar prices.....!

This hotel offers a cheap, value for money holiday. The buildings are in need of some tender loving care.
Our room was clean, the towels were changed regularly and though some of the fixtures and fittings were dated,all worked.
There was always plenty of hot water, though of varying shades.
The staff were not too professional or curtious. I assume that they wre low paid and poorly trained.
However,I did enjoy my week there and would maybe return.
The hotel location was not too bad. The only entertainment at Venus is tele, pool and some indoor games.

I would advise every person staying at the Venus Hotel to lock up all their valuables as they are likely to be stolen! The manager will not care if your room is broken into or if your posessions are stolen as "you can claim on your insurance". The swimming pool is so dirty that you cannot see into it. The food is brought over from the Palm Court. There is never any change. It is hells hole a danger area! Do not stay!

The most dreadful holiday I have ever ever been on. Staff rude, cleaners steal from your room and the management do not care.
The food was ok, but after cockroaches were found in fellow residents food we stopped eating there.
Location was ok, time share seem to thrive on the occupants of Venus/Palm court like flies round dung......
The hotel in bad need of attention as do the staff need some training they are doing nothing for Malta tourist trade in fact it has put us off ever returning ...........
Enter Venus or Palm Court at your own risk if it was in the UK it would be condemned and closed down.

If you are staying in A block make sure when you leave your room you insert the key in the lock and turn it fully to the left twice to bolt your door to stop theives entering your room.
Something we found out after we had our mobile phone and charger stolen also a cd player. The manager could not care less and just said "go to the police and claim of your ins" then left before I could reply.
The room we stayed in had a dirty floor and half the lights were broken as were the hot water taps. We had to buy a fan as the cieling fan looked unsafe to use and was very noisey. The pool was disgusting. The barman was the slowest I have ever met.
Also the people bringing the food round the pool at 7am every morning on a trolley woke everyone up with the clatter of dishes.
