My hubby and I stayed at this hotel 17th july-31st July.

We had prebooked a gold room. we were given a room on the lagoon side of the hotel which in hindsight was great because the 2nd weekend there, the hotel was invaded by a very large number of mexican teenagers celebrating end of term and they were the rudest and noisiest bunch ever. especially annoying as the hotel admitted some were 14 years old!!!! Not good for an adult only resort. They were very loud and very drunk most of the time and especially round the pool area.

The room itself was nice. Large jacuzzi. Could have done with a bit of redecorating but we werent in it much. maid service was excellent. clean towels everyday and lots of them too.

The restaurants;
the old barn-great steaks, fantastic service.
pier 12- didnt like at all, food wasnt very good and staff didnt seem overly bothered by the fact we waited 45 minutes between starter and main course!
shangri-la- food nice, staff good.
sumo-food too salty for me but staff were nice.
paradise buffet-should be open for evening dinner. food lovely and wide variety. staff were excellent in here especially samuel.

Activity staff were hard to keep you entertained. wasnt too keen on the 'stevie wonder' take off during the elvis show, thought it was abit offensive.

They do all try very hard and are extremely friendly.

beach is fab but unfortunately it was never a green flag when we were there, mainly reds!!

Overall I enjoyed the holiday. Did joes jeep adventure-excellent and tulum and xel-ha-excellent.

Highlight of the holiday has to be watching the turtles laying their eggs in the sand right by our hotel-wow!

My Partner, Lorraine and I, Stayed at the GP From the 31th May to the 13th June 2007.

On arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff with a cold drink and colder towels to cool our faces, Fantastic!!
We stayed in room 620, and were extreemly pleased with our large bed, jacuzzi etc...

We had read reports of the rooms being below standard, but ours was very clean and pleasant, and the view of the sea from our balcony was breathtaking. Only 2 faults in the room:

1 Not enough water pressure in the shower.
2 Electricity supply was not strong enough to charge Some nokia phones (uk) and hair appliances.

All the resteraunts were of a very good standard, and we found the service to be of very high quality. All the staff were excellant and we tipped regularly.

The tikki bar staff were the best ever, Carlos, Alfonzo and Jose are the best bar men ever, and remember everyones drinks.

We met a lot of very good friends at the GP, Dennis and Karen, were great fun, especially on the Cancun Queen (booze Cruise). IF YOU BOTH READ THIS, PLEASE SEND ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS, WE THINK WE HAVE WROTE IT DOWN WRONG, HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT YOU.

Other great people we met there were our friends Elaine and Gary from uk, Phil and Jo from Belfast. Christine and Tony from Boston, Mr and Mrs Canada (from the booze Cruise), Jay from the booze cruise (my fellow Finalist), plus many more.

The entertainment staff, (Fabo, Pocahontas, Chris, Amy and Louise) are very hard working and all are fantastic people, They do a very good job and you would find it hard to meet better people.

This place has had a few ok reviews and lots of great ones, I agree with the great ones, We loved the place and all the staff, and met so many great people.

Ps , The dolphin trip was out of this world.

If you want a quite no children romantic break in a great location, this place is perfect.

The only 1 thing that was out of place here, were the couple having open sex in the pool during a water polo game, but fortunately, they were very quickly removed from the hotel. (maybe they thought it was the Blue Bay Getaway).

PPs, Coco Bongos is a great night out

We went on holiday here in September 2006 for my father-in-law's 60th birthday. We chose it as it was adult only. We found the hotel very clean no complaints at all.

In respect of the food, we thought there was a very good range from your basic chips and burgers to the impressive selection at the Shangri la. You have to wear a shirt with a collar and proper shoes to go here and we were surprised to learn that a number of people didn't have those items of clothing and were therefore unable to eat there. This was by far the best food and service in respect of the restaurants. I also particularly enjoyed the sumo place tuna sushi was fab!!

We were in a ocean view room with a jacuzzi in it (club room) It had a huge balcony and the room was massive. We had a fridge which was great and was refilled every other day with a selection of soft drinks and local alcohol. We had read that the beds were hard before we went and were a bit worried as we are quite picky in this area but it really wasn't a problem.

The location was great, close enough to grab a bus into the shops or a bit of a stroll if feeling brave in the heat. Close to the facilities to go scuba diving which was great for us.

The hotel staff excelled themselves. My mother-in-law slipped over after being there 2 hours - dislocating and fracturing her shoulder and arm!! Nightmare. The hotel staff were excellent at the time and for the duration of the holiday - they couldn't have done anymore to ensure she was happy and comfortable.

I would however, say the entertainment at the hotel was a little poor with things being repeated the second week in the exact same order. They do however, offer nightly trips into Cancun to the different night clubs which we did tag along for on one night. We went to Daddy O's as we were tempted there as they said it had 'rock bands' doing covers. We went for my father-in-laws 60th. When we got there it was full of very drunk American youths and it ended up with a full on 'wet t shirt' contest in which the first two contestants stripped completely naked!! I've never been so shocked (i'm only 27) and we still talk about the 'titty show' we took my partners father to for his 60th - that's one to tell the grandkids!!

I would definitely return to this hotel if I was visiting Cancun again (maybe not daddy o's!!)

We had an amazing time at this hotel, the staff are well above average on hospitality and care, the food was above average too with a wide range of choices for everyone.

The beach here is beautiful but very rough to swim in, we stayed round the pool which is lovely, make sure you dont leave it too late to go round the pool as the sun loungers get taken quite quickly.

We upgraded to a club/honeymoon room with sea view and i can not express in words how very much well worth this is, the rooms are huge with a lovely shower, queensize bed, cd player, satalite tv, coffee maker, jacuzzi, and lots more little treats.

We had the best time here and would definately return again !
