If you don’t mind the noise from the main bar area in the evenings then the rooms close to reception/around the big main pool are ideal as their close to everything, pool, daytime entertainment, restaurant, reception, bar etc
Rooms further back behind the gym are better if you have smaller children and prefer not to be disturbed by the evening noise. The pools further back are quieter and the middle pool has a nice splash play area for younger children.
If you have rooms on the lower level you do hear footsteps of people walking around above you.

The Faro shops at Maspalomas are well worth a visit. You can walk along the front which has nice shops and restuarants it is clean tidy and has beautiful plants, flowers and a waterfall. A lot of the tourists are German but most staff can speak some English.

Maspalamas is undoubtedly the place to go if you are seeeking a holiday for the family in a hot climate with a touch of class about it. There are quality restaurants reasonably priced and an excelllent taxi service. The beach speaks for itself and is amongst the best serviced and maintained I have visited.
For those looking for the 'boom boom boom' tacky nightlife scene Playa Del Ingles is equally a short cheap taxi ride away. Therefore for a family group of mixed age groups and interests, this offers a good compromise.

The actual resort i found to be fairly clean although it could have been that bit better.
Venesol was at the bottom of the hill and so to walk anywhere is not really an option, luckily the taxis are cheap and quick, remember your map so you can point out where you want to go!
We spent most evenings in Paddys Irish Bar, which is just at the top of the hill, staff very friendly and gives that british feeling if your homesick. Entertainment there is great and especially the drag act on Tue nights.
During the day we visited Kasbah, when we arrived it was a let down as the local people have a siesta for 1 til 4pm so not much was open.
Attempted to get a bus to the beach, after waiting 30min in the baking heat we flagged down a taxi.
The beach was great to relax and just get away from the local area. Be aware that you are expected to pay 7euros for sunlounger or you can burn on the sand!
I was very dissapointed that there was not much to do and i realised that most of our money was spent trying to find some good places.Reps could have told us some more info.
Not my idea atall of a holiday, will not be coming again.

Maspalomas/Meloneras is a lovey resort. We have stayed in this resort twice before and would certainly go back. We have noticed changes every time we go. Right on the sand dunes with plenty of restaurants, bars and shopping centres. This is a quieter resort than Playa Del Ingles but has enough for everyone and only a short taxi drive away if you wish more nightlife. There is also a bus station and plenty taxis which are extremly reasonable. Very picturesque with the El Faro lighthouse and a lovey promenade for you to stroll along whether in the day time or evening. There is also the Faro 11 Centre which houses restaurants, shops and entertainment. This is a lovely building and there is nothing nicer than sitting here having an evening meal. Beautiful scenery in this resort. Mostly bungalows with very impressive 4 or 5 star hotels. A very clean resort, friendly people and handy for that all important camel ride on the dunes.

Never really ventured much. Faro centre too commercial but the nearby promenade with restaurants and bars very pleasant.

Maspalomas is certainly quieter than neighbouring PDI but it is geared more towards families than revellers. It's clean and tidy, with lots of restaurants and bars down at the beach. The dunes are perfect for exploring but don't stray too far - the nudists are about! The beach is exceptional but bring flip-flops - the sand can be roasting!!

sonneland is still very much in the developing stages so not much to do,but didnt bother us as kids preffered to stay on complex, not much in way of pubs, discos or restauarants, but taxis are very very cheap to anywhere in maspalomas and p.d.i,so we used them quite a lot.the beach in p.d.i is better than maspalomas as there is a bit of drifting sand in maspalomas which my kids hated as it got in their eyes.

Cleanliness wasn’t even an issue...we didn’t notice anything that looked unhygienic or mingin!
The entertainment was...eh.... Funny! A couple of guys juggled and changed their clothes all at the same time and a wee cowboy dude balanced everything he could on his chin...sun loungers, tables, totally fab. Beach was too sandy (I know that it a mental thing to say) the sand was so hot you couldn’t walk on it. That’s the only bad thing I can say about this place!
