Stayed at apartment from Jan 1st for a week.

Apartment very basic, not even a kettle. Cleaner came in every day although did very little. Building work next door although we were lucky that because of bank holiday did not affect us to much. Built into cliffside with lots of steps, you are okay if near the top but we were right at bottom.

Bar quite nice but only criticism is the owners seemed to spend a lot of their time drinking with friends.

Would not go back.

Stayed over the Christmas period of 2006. Hotel was very clean but very worn around the edges. Due to Christmas we did not get any maid service from Saturday when we arrived until Wednesdy. Shower would only give enough hot water for one person then you had to let it heat up again. Major building work next door as the foundations for a new hotel were being dug out and work starts early about 8.30 so hangovers are not advised.

Reception seemed to open and close to suit them and would not comment about the building work which we undersand to have started about mid November 2006.

Good location but I suggest the use of taxis for uphill travel, very cheap about 2.5 euro.

The on site bar was franchised by a Scottish couple who were very friendly even though it appeared they drank more than the holiday makers. They were fun and entertaining.
Would we come back? probably not I like a little more comfort than this facility offered

Me and my family decided to go to Gran Caneria for a ncie time away. We were looking on the internet at the comments which had been made about Roslara and saw that many people had put very nice comments about the hotel so we thought we might as well check it out.

We arrived at Roslara at 2:30 in the morning and there was no one at all to greet us. We were really disappointed because we had to wait outside for about an hour...if we didn't ring security number then we would have been out there all night.. from then we knew it would be a bad holiday!

In the morning we went down to the bar and the staff were not friendly at all. They didn't talk to us apart from when they asked us if we wanted drinks, they didn't smile or make us feel welcome. We all felt disgusted!

We ordered our food and it was lovely.

Also in the hotel rooms it was boling. No air-con and full of ants everywhere! even on the cooker in the kitchen. Also very small. The cleaner would come in every day but wouldn't clean anything. She left the same bedsheets on all week and most of them were mucky!!

If anyone is looking to go to Peurto Rico then I definately wouldn't recommend this place. It gave us such a bad view on the resort because of the hotel and we will definitely not be going again!

We went to Roslara Apartments on a self catering holiday, although we didn't do any self catering. Every morning we would have breakfast at the pool side bar, which was very nice. We would also have a snack from the pool bar almost every day. Considering that all websites advertise Roslara as budget accommodation we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms all have great sized balconies and pay per view TV. Kitchenettes are well equiped with toaster, kettle and various other kitchen accessories. Our room was cleaned very other day.

The Europa centre (which has various bars, restaurants and shops) was about a 5 minute walk away. Taxi stands and bus stops are also located at the Europa Centre. Amadores beach is beautiful and is about a 20 minute walk away from Roslara and Puerto Rico's harbour is the same distance (all down hill). We would recommend getting a taxi back to Roslara, which costs about 2.50euros.

The hotel staff at Roslara are very friendly and helpful. The hotel always has music playing around the pool, which made a very nice change. They also have a live singer on every Sunday.

The position of the hotel is good as it gets the sun all day every day. If on the opposite side you only get the sun in an evening. The pool is heated via solar panels so if its cloudy the pools usally cold. the staff where nice, the bar staff where great and the food was excellent.
The hotel is only a short walk from the europa center and taxi stand and bus stop, it takes around 15 minutes to walk to amadores beach.

The only problem i had with the hotel was there was rust in the bath and a big crack in the door and when it rained the water came in, Goog jod it only rained once the whole week for about 5 minutes. That was the first time i have ever been there and it has rained.

There is entertainment every sunday and music is played all day around the pool area.

There is a hotel nextdoor been built but its nearly finished so noise is at a min.
Rooms 1,2,3,4 get the best view as they are not blocked by other apartments, the balcony is very big, the window in the bedroom can be left open as there is a grill on the outside to keep the bugs out. The grill also opens up.

Playstations, microwaves, hairdryers, and a safe can all be rented

The apartments were clean and spacious. The facilities were good with a TV which you paid a euro for an hour of TV. You could order food from the bar near the pool. We ate there one day and we could not have what we had ordered as it had 'gone mouldy' however we chose to stay there and found the food quiet nice. The location was good. Set on the side of a hill you could see the other hotels and the sea. Two hotels near were in the process of being built however I did not find this bothered me. When you could find the hotel staff I found them very helpful and friendly, but like I said, when you found them!!
The entertainment was good. It was nice to relax in the pool and listen to music.

The only disappointing thing about the apartments were cockroaches. We arrived at the apartments at half past four in the morning and found two cockroaches in the bedroom, one running along the head board. However, after this the maintenance man came into our room, sprayed something around and we did not see anymore all holiday.

The Roslara has no air-con, and when we were there the temperatures were sky high, and after having been delayed for 8 hours and arriving in the early hours, we needed water and air-con, which the room didnt have. It was an okay place, but a bit out of the way for my liking.

Poppy one of the singers was entertaining, especially her rendition of wonderwall!

It was nice to be able to go to the Europa palce, and also to the amadores beach which was lush! Defo go there .

I stayed at the Roslara Apartments as a last-minute booking this April.

The apartments are located at the top of the hill (cliff ?) on the right hand side of the valley. One of the advantages to this is that usually the apartments would be very quiet, especially at night.

For budget accommodation the one-bedroom apartments are attractive. The twin beds are comfortable, with bedding that actually fits! (Which is rare) The bathroom has a bath as well as shower, and the combined kitchen/living room is reasonably well equipped - the only essential item missing being a kettle. There is a pay for view TV, which has Sky news, CNN and a movie channel - one Euro equals one hours viewing. The balconies are a very generous size, and I was lucky to have a sunbed on mine, which meant I could sunbathe with some privacy if I so desired. The cleaners come every other day, I wouldn't say they were through, but adequate.

Now for the bad news: Unfortunately, at the moment building work is taking place on both sides of these apartments, consisting of a large development on the left side, and a smaller one on the right, both approximately at the same stage...which means there is a hell of a lot of drilling and hammering going on during the day, which is virtually impossible to ignore! So if you are someone who likes to stay close to base, I really wouldn't recommend these apartments. It did seem such a shame, there wasn't much of an atmosphere at the apartments, as I think most people spent as little time as possible there, just to keep away from the noise! Luckily the work only takes place Monday to Friday.

So I would say wait until this time in 2006, hopefully all the work will be finished, and these apartments can go back to being ideal holiday accommodation.
