I stayed at the Onabrava for the last two weeks of October 2005. I had booked through a firm on the internet so I didn't know what to expect.

The last time I was on holiday in this area was in May 2005 at Malgrat, and promised friends at the Rovers that I would try to get back this year.

On arriving at the hotel at 7pm I was amazed at the size of the hotel, at reception the staff was ever so helpful and when getting to my room was in a state of complete amazement at the size of the room. Two double beds and the space in the room you could easily get a family in there and I was on my own. I was there for two weeks.

The first week the weather was terrible with storms, tornado's gales and a little bit of sun. I don't think the hotel are used to rain because in the mornings you tended to see buckets all around the main hall of the hotel collecting rain drops from the glass roof.

The food was excellent throughout my stay.

The entertainment was so so. I am almost 50 years of age so I am a bit picky in entertainment department but no complaint on the whole.

The cleaning staff was excellent courteous and always have time to greet and speak to you. The bar staff again in the same category.

Having spent 14 nights at the Onabrava hotel on a half board basis for

A lovely hotel.

I accept that the rooms would be large for two people but when you have a family of four they don't seem so big, however the room was adequate and was kept beautifully clean by the staff. Indeed the whole hotel was kept spotless from dawn to dawn!

The hotel was reasonably busy (at the weekend it was exceptionally busy with lots of Spanish peeps from Barcelona) and the weather was good but we had no problems getting a sunbed when we wanted one!

The animation team did their best with the daytime entertainment and also kept the children busy in the evening with the mini disco. With the exception of one night, all of the evening entertainment was first class.

The drinks prices were reasonable both soft and alcoholic and although the food itself was decent the hotplates do not keep it hot and invariably by the time you got back to the table it was pretty cold. There was however a good selection of food and I was pleased to see that they did not cater for the eggs and chips brigade.

The staff are all very helpful and the place runs like clockwork. On the whole it is a decent four star hotel and I would recommend it to anyone.

Arrived early in the morning check-in was strtaight forward with very well presented, friendly, English speaking staff.

Found our room on the 4th floor which was quite a good size, clean and tidy with everything you'd expect from a 4 star hotel. The room was quite spacious for the two of us....two large double beds, clean linen on the beds, a TV (lots of channels mainly Spanish and German, only 2 English channels, both news ones), a safe box (which you can get a lock and key from reception, costs

Spotless with an army of cleaners, very large rooms by package holiday standards. could not believe that we had a double bed each. Fridge and Safe hire is rather expencive compared to other hotels.

This is a hotel with conference facilities and while we were there we had 4 seperrate wedding parties and a couple of conferences with large numbers of guests during the 10 days so it is a little more upmarket than the most.

The dining room can be a little busy at times but is run like clockwork, this is a dress to dinner place even at breakfast most will dress in trousers and a shirt, you may feel very out of place if you want to hang about in sloppy shorts for the whole holiday.

Drinks have gone up about 20% this year but that is all over spain so you just have to pay up. There are cheaper places if you wish to spend the time looking to save 20p.

The hotel has its own theatre for the evening entertainment, most of which is quite good. Railway station accross the road will take you all down the coast for exploring if you wish and the local market once a week starts right outside.

No noise at night ensures a good nights sleep in a large bed. Microwave oven to re-heat food but kids are not realy catered for in the restuarant, on saying that we chose late september to get away from kids so it was fine.

If you have complaint with this hotel I can only guess that you must be that 1 person that complains about anything and everything.

Just returned from a two week stay at the Hotel Aqua Ona Brava. Having read the many positive comments about this hotel before the holiday, I was really looking forward to excellent break. Unfortunately, certain incidents occurred that left me feeling more than a little disappointed with the quality of the hotel and reduced the overall enjoyment of my stay.

All areas of the hotel are kept very clean. With rooms cleaned daily to a high standard. Family rooms are a good size, with plenty of space to move around freely.

Many people comment on the excellence of the food, which is well presented and generally prepared to a high standard. However, we had the misfortune to find a maggot in our food one day and then being over cautious on the next day we found iron filings from the can openers in our dessert. Futhermore, choice of dishes can be a little restricted by the large number of fish dishes and there was virtually no choice at all for our 2 children. They basically had chips and bread for 2 weeks. That said they are picky with their food, so if your children are as well you have been warned!

In the main, staff are helpful and pleasent. Although, they failed to resolve certain issues that we had to our satisfaction and often contradicted themselves when trying to resolve our problems.

Biggest problem we had was the lack of sunbeds available. In order to get a bed you had to be by the pool before 8.15. Most days beds were gone by 9.00 although many were not used until much later in the day. Hotel policy states no reserving of beds, but they do not enforce this at all. When given permission to remove towels which we did on a few occaisions, it was us that was left to face the abuse and anger of other guests, rather than the hotel staff who should have pointed out their policy. If you don't mind missing breakfast with your family and getting up early each day then you will not find the lack of beds a problem. Personally, I would rather go to hotel that allows everyone a fair chance to have access to a sunbed. Rather than the ridiculous situation that we faced each day!!!

Kids club is great. Very flexible hours. They worked really hard, for long hours trying to keep our two entertained. Both were happy to stay as long or as short as they wanted. Evening entertainment was mixed and got a bit repetitive after 2 weeks.

The hotel is located along the promenade, quite close to the railway station, which provides a useful link to Barcelona and other resorts.

The hotel in general was ok, the food however was always on the cold side & we heated it up in the microwave, there was very little on the menu apart from chips for children & poultry dishes seemed a little undercooked.

If you like a cup of tea with your breakfast then take your own tea bags, the hotel brand is no good.

As in most hotels the bar is expensive.

The rooms were spacious & kept very clean
The hotel belongs to a complex of hotels situated in a row with various mini shops & cafe's also owned by the complex.

If you want a sun lounger, forget about it unless you want to join the mad 8am towel dash. We never got a sun lounger once!, the beach is only 5 mins way & that's were we went daily.

Holiday makers here are mostly Spanish & the entertainment reflected this, but why not we are in Spain afterall!

Upon walking through the doors into this hotel, I was very impressed indeed, very large reception area, which incorporated several seating areas to relax in, as well as a bar area.

Games room for the kids, the only down side with this was the cost. There was even 2 PC's available if you felt the need to surf the net. Room was well presented,a nd had maid service every day.

Food was OK, well presented, but very limited for kids. Entertainment was very poor, although there was a kids club available for the young ones. My only word of warning to others is pray that it does not rain.

It rained very heavy on the first Saturday we were there, and within 1 hour, the whole reception area was flooded, rain was coming in through the roof, all of the staff were mopping out the reception and bar area, it was really a site to see, I have caught it on video, so subject to Thomas Cook's responce to my complaint you may see it on TV...Not what you expect from a 4 star hotel.

As long as there is no rain, the hotel is fine.

This is my 3rd time in the Santa Susanna resort but the first in this hotel.

I was amazed when we arrived on how size the hotel is. It was lovely and the rooms were brill the staff were really good especially for kids were there was a lot of entertainment at the hotel.

The food was really good but a lot of fishy things not thinking about the British.

I have booked for next year in June saving 700 per couple.

Recommend go to Barcelona on the train 6 euro return also try the cr

I stopped a the Auqa Hotel Onabrava which is opposite the railway station in Santa Sussana. The hotel was very good; clean modern and with nice rooms. I went half board and the food was also good with a varied selection well presented. My only complaint here is that you have to buy your drinks in the evening as no water is provided at the table and they take advantage of this with the price.Entertainment on a night in the Hotel was suitable for families, enjoyable and fun.

In summary, I can recommend both the resort and the hotel and I intend returning in September this year.
