Got back on 4 Feb from my 3rd visit to this hotel in the last 14 months, and it really was superb.

I had emailed beforehand and requested a particular room, which I got

Myself and my partner were desperately looking forward to our holiday at Hilton Sharks Bay, we've had a tough time with family bereavement and illness since our last holiday in September. Unfortunately, we are not the type of people who enjoy the false, fawning and over-familiar attitude of the majority of the staff employed at Hilton Sharks Bay and it was this behaviour which cast a very dark cloud over our stay there last week.
The catering facilities at this hotel, and mass catering is exactly what we are talking about here, are desperate - if you're looking for fine dining or an enjoyable, well cooked evening meal in pleasant unstressful surroundings, forget it. The 'restaurant' on the old side resembles a Works canteen. The restaurant on the new side is a more pleasant environment but the food in both places appears to be of the same poor standard. I read another review about the quality of the food at this hotel and the reviewer said something along the lines of ' there's lots of choice and we always found something to eat, we never went hungry' - you're on holiday for god's sake, it shouldn't be a challenge to find something to eat!!! And as for 'not going hungry', good grief! This is an All Inclusive hotel which people pay good money to stay at - the chances of 'going hungry' should be absolutely nil!!!
The other negative about the old side restaurant is the 'challenging' staff working here who are extremely overfamiliar and if they don't get the response that they expect to their inappropriate comments they can become either cheeky or downright insolent. It seems that the majority of the staff 'latch on' to those clients who put up with their over-familiar banter, probably in the hope that they will get a tip. This means that the clients who prefer to keep themselves to themselves receive either indifferent service or are just ignored when it comes to waiting to be served drinks.
Entertainment was dire. Best night was the night of the storm which we watched from our patio.
Bars on the new side are completely lacking in atmosphere. The Chill out bar on the old side is like an Eastern european knocking shop. Drinks are watered down apart from the white wine which should have been.
We stayed in a two bedroomed suite on the old site which was OK, nothing special and a bit dated.
The only positive I can report on was the weather, which was fantastic and great for sunbathing - but of course this was down to nature and involved no input from Hilton Sharks Bay!
As you've probably gathered, we hated this place, would never go back and will tell anyone interested about the disappointing time we had here. I do actually wonder what level of involvement senior management from the Hilton Hotel chain have in this hotel and if I have the time will be contacting them to find out.

Spent Christmas week here and was very relieved to actually arrive, as airports were closed and flights cancelled due to snow in UK. Arrived on time with Easyjet and was out of Sharm airport in record time and our Hotel taxi waiting for us.

Check in was also smooth and quick. When reception realised we were H Honours members, they told us we didn't need to fill any forms in but just to sit and wait. After a couple of mins we were whisked off to new part of hotel in buggy. One of the rooms we had booked were in the new part but not the other. They put us both next to each other in the new side and did not have to pay to upgrade. Another point here about Hilton Honours, it is worth joining as we didn't have to pay for a late check out.

Our rooms were the closest to the airport and after getting woken up by planes taking off at 6.00 am on the first morning I thought it was going to be a problem but didnt seem to notice after a while.
The rooms were excellent and housekeeping was great. Lots of towel art and plenty of Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries left every day.

Restaurants were good. I actually preferred eating in the new side but we often would wander over to the old restaurant as you had the choice of the Italian and Lamb kebabs being cooked outside which you could take into the restaurant, so there was more choice. The hotel put on a Gala meal for Christmas Eve which was very nice. When we arrived back at our room there was a Christmas stocking on the door handle with a satsuma, cookies and nuts in it.

The pools on the new side are massive. It is actually 3 pools interconnected with 2 slides. I think only the middle pool was heated. When we first arrived it was empty but even when it got busy over Christmas, there were still plenty of sunbeds available. There was certainly no need for an early morning sunbed run here! The pools in the new side stay in the sun for quite a bit longer than in the old part in winter.

Snorkelling off the jetty was fabulous. The hotel beach is very small and sunbeds are crammed together here.

Soho Square is a 5 minute walk away. There are shops, and ice rink, ice bar and ten pin bowling.

Entertainment at the hotel isn't that good but they do try!

There are gyms on both sides and a spa on the old side with steam room and sauna etc. Didn't get round to using it but it looked nice. Also a spa on the new side but I think this is where you went for massages etc.

I found the staff in the whole resort very friendly and helpful.

I would definitely visit again and at this time of year. The temperature was about 27C, the sea was warm and only a light cardi needed for the evening. I had read it can get cold of a night, so maybe we were lucky. Days are short though, so we got up early to make the most of the sun. Sun was gone by 4pm.

This was our second visit to the hotel, having been there in November last year, and I decided to do another review as we stayed in a different part of the hotel this time.

I had emailed the hotel in advance to arrange pick up from the airport: we needed 2 taxis for 4 people at $12 each. The guys were waiting for us, and it was a quick transfer to the hotel.

At check in, I could see the room numbers we had been allocated in the old part of the hotel, where I had expected to stay. We were then offered an upgrade at

We had a wonderful time during our week here.

we stayed in a superior room in the new development within this vast complex. The entire complex is around one kilometre in size, with the facilities now shared between the old section and the new. the old part is only 7 yrs. old, and it houses the main reception and wonderful garden areas that wind their way down to the small private beach.

there are numerous areas around the 4 pools on this side where you can relax, also there are 3-4 different terraces where you can lounge on sand before getting down to the beach where you can partake in water sports or swim around or snorkle to view the magnificent sea life that is just amazing around you.

there are 3 further pools on the new side, which are joined to make an overall 1000 meters or so of bathing area including a kids in land beach in the middle, these 3 pools are seperated with 2 pool bars
including swim up areas from the water.

in total there are 3 restaurants at present, plus a further asian restaurant due to open very soon over on the new block.

on top of this there are several other outdoor eateries around the pool and down by the beach on the old side, plus snacks are available from the 2 pool side bars on the new side. The food was excellent, however as we are notoriously fussy eaters some times the choices were not to our liking, but saying this there was always some soup, or a salad or even pizza from the italian always available.

the standard of the food was excellent at all times, i just wish that we could be more adventurous to savor more of it.

the whole place was maintained impecably at all times, and by the way the maids in the room maintenance dept. were all male.!the one who attended to our room for the week was amazing with the towel animals that he could do, a different 1 every afternoon, swans, elephants, boats on the water, even a monkey dangling down from the ceiling.

we are fotunate to have travelled the globe extensively, but the people here were probably the friendliest we have encountered anywhere, their only concern was your enjoyment, whether you tipped them or not.
we befriended a few waiters and they were really nice and interesting people to get to know, and the commitment that they put in to the 12 hour days for 28 days in a row was amazing!living away 100's of miles from their families.

i must admit we only selected egypt last minute as we were in need of a sun filled break, and we were a little apprehensive having never visited there before,i can assure you we enjoyed without any concern when we got there, and we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for anyone thinking of visiting the area.

and finally, we marked the entertainment lowish, this was only as we never really went to see any, there was an animation team that looked after that on site but we just enjoyed our times in the evenings relaxing amongst new found friends mainly in the same q adult bar on the new side.

without a doubt we would not hesitate to return here in future.,

I visited the Hilton Sharks Bay alone for a relaxing week in the sun. The hotel was excellent and the staff the most pleasant, hard working people I have ever come across. Even the paths throughout the complex were swept daily and a man came around in the evenings with a smoke gun to repel mosquitos. The food was very good. Hot and with plenty of choice. The Hilton Sharks Bay is a resort in its own right. There are two separate hotels covering about a mile in total. There is a regular shuttle bus which runs from the beach to the new building which is the furthest point. Visitors can use the pools and restaurants at either hotel. This gives a great variety of choice and, in my case, enough scope for a weeks' visit without having to go outside of the hotel.

We booked a week at the Hilton in a twin room in the older part of the hotel. On arrival we proceeded to check in along with several others and were offered an upgrade to the new section for $50 per night...we declined. We were allocated a room with a Kingsize bed, which we pointed out wasn't acceptable and we needed a twin. We were told this room also had a bed settee, again unacceptable. Eventually we were pulled to one side and offered a free upgrade to a twin room in the new section.

The hotel in ALL areas was spotless both old and new section. There was cleaning going on all day & night and it showed as the place was spotless.

Our ground floor room block 400, was at the far end of the 1,000 metre pool area. Large room with 2 x 3/4 beds which were the most comfortable beds possible. We had patio doors leading to a terrace with 2 seats and a grassy area. Decent size flat screen TV with 100s of channels including MTV. The unit also housed a small fridge & tea/coffee facilities and kettle. More than enough wardrobe, drawers & storage space. There was alos an iron & ironing board in the cupboard. The bathroom was enormous and had a good size bath, huge sink & surround and a double glass shower enclosure and a very decent shower too. No complaints at all with the room here and this is predominantly why I would stay here again.

Your extremely close to the airport in the new hotel, there's literally a road between you & the aiport perimeter fence and the airport building is clearly visible. We did hear planes taking off and landing from around 6am until 2am, however it was never enough to keep me awake.

The pool was awesome and it really is 1,000 meter freeform which is made of 3 pools all joined by 2 bar and seating areas. The largest of the 3 at the rear is not heated boy was it cold ! The middle pool is the childrens pool and was very, very warm and shallow. Finally the first pool is slightly heated. The 2 bars also have swim up stools as well as a seating area to enjoy drinks and snacks.

Was glad to be in the new section as the original hotel had too many smaller pool areas which seemed cramped with sundbeds and as the hotel was full during our visit people were moaning terribly about the dreaded sunbed reserving with towels from 5am onwards ! The other problem is that you had to chase the sun in the old part due to the situation of the rooms surrounding the pool areas. The beach was again very small and not many beds available. We went down there to view the jetty and the beach, which is very small and the beds are on tiered areas again small and cramped....not our cup of tea. We ventured down there one night around 1am for a drink in the Sunset bar and 2 couples (English!!)were putting towels on beds at that time !!!! How very sad.

The staff were generally excellent, especially our room attendant...what that boy could do with towels was an art in itself. The waiters in our restaurant were excellent and very friendly. I wasn't so impressed with the waiters in the original restaurants, they certainly weren't as attentive and it was nigh on impossible to get a drink with our meal. They all seemed somewhat jaded. Having said that we prefered the bar staff here as oppose to the new part, they were great characters & always made us welcome especially in the Chillout bar. In the new part the bar staff were pretty sullen and not really great at interacting with customers at all.

Breakfast: Good choice, everything you could possibly want including porridge ! An excellent egg station which were all made to order, fruit, cereals, beef bacon, chicken sausages. Juices and 2 large toasters with an abundance of fresh bread. Great coffee too.

Lunch: Acceptable in the restaurant for salads, breads, fruit and a couple of meat dishes. We used the bars around the pool to have a hot dog, cheesburger or sandwich and found it fine although often a VERY long wait at lunchtime and many a "lost" order.

Dinner: I'm afraid this could only be described as okay. I'm afraid if your a fussy eater or like me you eat with your eyes then you'll struggle to accept some of the main meals on offer. I just don't think they've mastered the art of what should be served with what ? Which is strange given the head chef at the hotel is English. The vegetables were almost always served in a saunce of some description, the potates were always swimming in sauce or covered in onions/cheese/veg puree. The meat dishes apart from a couple of nights were also a little odd. There was a rabbit stew on one night, when I lifted the lid the sauce looked awful and there were 100s of bones sticking out of the liquid...again not to my taste. The better evenings were when there was a roasted turkey/beef on, however you do only get one slice of anything unless you hyng around and did an "Oliver" and asked for more !

The hotel had an animation team of several young Egyptian men and 2 girls. I'm afraid they have a lot to learn and the entertainment or rather lack of it was dire. Their whole programme relied on audience participation during the day and evening and you were constantly hassled 24 hrs by them to join in. For many reason people didn't want to and therein lies the problem, there was no other form of entertainment on offer without the guests !! No back up plan, nothing. There was a Bingo night in the old part and apart from the obligatory Karaoke every other night there was nothing at all. This situation would have to change or they're really going to suffer, they have to remember that guests in the main are in the hotel day & night and without a decent enterainment programme your going to go stir crazy with nothing to do except sit and listen to the "DJ" banging out 80/90s old tunes. The aim of the animators seemed to be how much fun they could have themselves without a care for the paying guests. Very poor indeed.

I will most defnitly be back to Sharm next year as I enjoyed this first trip very much and had excellent weather. But I wouldn't go back to the Hilton as I'd like to try somewhere else. We did visit friends staying in the Baron Palms and much prefered the food and beach here, so perhaps that's where we'll try next year. However having said that if the deal was right and we could gurantee the newer part of the hotel then I wouldn't hesitate to go back to the Hilton......would just have to hope the evening meals have improved and the "entertainment" had been sorted.

After a ten minute journey fron the airport we arrived at the very impressive looking Hilton Hotel at Sharks Bay. On checking in we were asked if we wanted to upgrade (FREE) from our sea view room in the old hotel to a ground floor room facing the pools in the new hotel.
Were we glad that we did! What a difference in the luxury between the two sites. Chalk and Cheese.
The room was immaculate with huge widescreen LCD TV, mini bar, walk in shower (easily big enough for two!)and a sizeable bit of lawn at the front.
The room service was first class and everyday the cleaner made animals from towels for our little boy. 10 out of 10 for that.
The pools were unbelieveable. It took a good 5 mins to push the pram from one end to the other. Huge!!! Two pools are heated in the Summer months but all three are in the Winter.
Food was very hit and miss. The best of the food was definitely to be had in the old part of the hotel so make sure you try there if you're in the new part.
The hotel isn't near very much but I wouldn't say that was a problem. The snorkelling is amazing around the hotels reef. Absolutely fascinating.
The staff were excellent. First class hospitality; a credit to both the hotel and Egypt.
Entertainment was very average so take a good book or enjoy the TV later on in the evening.
A wonderful place that we'd definitely visit again.

In late February early March 2009 we stayed for 12 days. Having previously stayed at Hilton Waterfalls and Holiday Inn Sultan Gardens which were good we considered this to be the best. We always want a good hotel with good house reef for snorkelling.
