The resort of gouves is ok if you just want to relax and do nothing on your holiday, there wasn't enough to do for us. Local buses are good, but main road is quite a walk for some, we spent most of ourtime visting other resorts such as hersonnisos, heraklion and stalis. As gouves is mainly A1 hotels, it was so quiet at night time not many people in the bars and restaurants. It might suit other people but we would not go again.

Gouves a vey small town with one main street of shops and tavernas not much night life. You need to walk a cpl of hundred yards either to the left or right to find a decent beach to lay out on and swim. But other towns and entertainment are available at nearby towns and bus easy and cheap to get there. Dont be concerend about reviews of this hotel as im sure like us you will really enjoy. Thanks to all teh staff of the Edieri for making our holiday an enjoyable one.

Just returned fron Astir Beach, and found everything miles better than expected from reading other reports.They cater for a european clientel and therefore food is very mixed, and of good quality. Staff very helpful and friendly, especially dining room staff and Nicos the barman. Only downside ( if there is one) is that if you have walking problems the main road is a fair walk away, so you really need transport to travel around the island. Locally things are as good as anywhere, shops, tavernas, restaurants,beaches etc. We still had ENGLISH holiday makers complaining, but would suggest in future think about where you are going. This is Crete, not Benidorm or Blackpool. It is not the sole preserve of the English, and long may it remain so. Also thank again to (Manos) at Hellenic for another first class holiday.

The resort of Gouves is a nice relaxing place to stay. There is a small beach behind a breakwater,but there is a larger beach past this one. A short stretcch of promenade where you can sit and have a drink and watch the world go by.

Gouves is very random.
It seems in the middle of nowhere and has lots of unfinished buildings and scrap yards but once your down near the beach things are more cleaner and tidier.
A nice place to relax but also to club! It depends what you want to do but I think I’ve found a winning place now!

The resort gouves was brilliant there was bars there aswell and only a 15 minute walk away from the hotel the beach was clean and the water was clean

The beach was a 10 min walk which was not bad, a few bars on the main street were ok but all played the same music every night which got a bit boring.

The beachs although small were clean and the umbrella man serviced the main ones. Pleanty of bars in the main section if thats your fancy.

The apartments are located approximately 5 minutes walk to the main sandy beach in Gouves and less than that to some of the local shops & tarvernas. The main town of Gouves itself is a good 20 minutes walk away.
The roads leading to the main town are a bit hairy as there are no paths and you are walking on the road with the local traffic and there can be a 6 foot drop beside the road with no barrier etc to stop you falling should you trip.
