Set on an incline on the outskirts of Elounda. Peaceful setting among olive groves and with panoramic views of the 'Gulf of Mirabello'. Basic Cretan SC Apts with pool and bar facilities. A 10 minute walk down to the main road leading roughly 15 mins through the high street down to the harbour and main square of Elounda. Ideally located for a relaxing away from it all break. Perhaps not ideal for party animals because of the walk back - uphill! Would suit mature couples. Not a lot for the kids unless they like swimming pools. Over all a beautiful scenic and peaceful place to unwind. Very settling.

Just got back from a very pleasant holiday staying at the penelope apartments. The apartments are of a good standard ( by Greek standards) The usual fridge, 2 ring hob, and a kettle and a toaster which you do not always get in 2 star apartments. The pool and bar area is lovely and Penelope will make you a snack or Greek Salad etc. Sometimes late afternoon if we were having a drink at the bar she brought out some home made cake from her mum which was lovely or some melon or cherries etc which we thought was a nice gesture. The walk into the village only takes about 10 minutes from the apartments to reach the main road into the harbour, then another 10 minute stroll past all the shops bars, taverns etc to reach the harbour. This is were you can get the boat over to Spinalonga Island. We had a meal in a different taverna/restaurant every night and although some where much better than others we never had a bad meal.We used the local buses to visit Ag Nik and then went on another bus to a village called Krista up in the mountains. We also went to the Samori Gorge which is another story but to be honest dont bother going if you are staying this side of Crete as getting up at 3am is no joke but we are glad we have done it as it was fantastic but the hardest walk I have done in a long time!! Enjoy this lovely part of Crete and the hospitality of the people.

Accomodation was excellent (by Greek standards), the pool area and bar always clean and well maintained. These apartments are run by a family who were happy to go out of their way to help. Bar food was simple but good value.
