lindos is a beautiful village situated down a steep hillthere is a free bus up the hill every 10 mins every 3rd bus also goes to the beach.there are pleny of very nice resturants and bars door men are a little pushy trying to get you into their resturants,.
we visited in early june the beach was clean and not over crowded after sunning ourselves the free bus back up the hill was very welcome.
we had a car for a few days and visited a lot of the island if we returned to rhodes we would look forward to staying at lindos again and using the lindos gardens as a base. The only bad thing to say is the steep hill out of the town ,.

Lindos is breathtakingly beautiful, all little white buildings tumbling down the hillside to a blue sea. It looks lovely in pictures but is a hundred times more lovely in real life.

St Pauls bay is gorgeous, very Mama Mia! And the donkeys are very sweet, although in my opinion able bodied adults should not be riding them, they should be for children only.

Visit late afternoon when it is cooler and quieter and spend some time getting lost down the little cobbled lanes

This was my third visit to Lindos, and i would recommend it as a beautiful and quite unique area. However, not an area to visit if you have any walking difficulties.

Lindos is one of those places that once you've been you fall in love with it. I have been twice previously and once again found it fantastic. The thing that makes it stand out is the friendliness of the people.

There are numerous good bars for every taste, special mentions to George and Alex in Socrates Rock bar, and Pericles in Lindian House for their hospitality.

Restaurant wise, i would recommend Acropolis roof top restaurant and also the only italian restaurant ( cant remember the name but its on the road down towards St Pauls Bay.

Talking of which, St Pauls Bay itself is a stunning little beach and if you are lucky you will catch a wedding in front of the church there

Lindos, Lardos & Pefkos were fantastic & as we had been there before, we knew what to expect. Lindos, Lardos & Pefkos have some fantastic restaurants & Lindos beach is a lovely place to relax & laze around at all day & St.Pauls bay is nice to look at. The evening entertainment in Lindos was superb with an array of interesting bars & clubs in the village area, Pefkos was mainly bars showing British sports which were not as good. We visited Haraki, Agathi beach which was nice, but the best one was Glystra, about 10 minutes drive from Lardos village heading towards Kiotari & the bus goes straight there from Lindos. We love Lindos, it is unique & very pretty with a good atmosphere, the only thing we didn't like was the poor Donkeys who have to take very heavy loads of people up to the Accropolis in scorching heat, which we felt was dreadfully unfair.

Lindos is a very popular destination, and many visitors find themselves returning year after year. From the affectionately known 'ooh-ah corner' on your approach to Lindos, arguably one of the most breathtaking views in Greece can be seen.Under the imposing 2nd century BC acropolis lies a maze of narrow, vibrant streets surrounded by whitewashed, sugar cube houses with elegant doorways and intricately pebbled courtyards. The 4 beaches, all within easywalking distance of Lindos centre, are also diverse. A large, sandy, family friendly beach with Blue Flag status shelves gently into the crystal clear waters. Several beachside tavernas and WCs are found here, and pedaloes, motorboats and other watersports for the more adventurous are offered during summer. An excellent glass bottom boat trip departs from here, and is a must-do during your stay! Pallas beach is more intimate, and is the home of several excellent tavernas, some of whom will serve you from your sunbed, such as Skala on Pallas beach.

For complete tranquility, head to St Pauls bay, a quaint unspoilt cove, usually peaceful enough to relax while listening to the soothing sounds of the sea. This area is also fabulous for snorkelling amongst the surrounding rocks. The shelved sandy beach close to St Pauls chapel offers spectacular views of the acropolis and St Pauls bay, and a small taverna offers drinks and snacks - and champagne for celebratory drinks after wedding ceremonies, which popular at this location.
One of the unusual features of Lindos is that even though during the day the village thrives with visitors, the streets are totally pedestrianised, the only transport being the occasional moped or the traditional Lindos donkeys.

Shops selling a wide range of cosmopolitan goods and gifts line the streets, along with a diverse range of tavernas and bars to suit every taste. One of the best ways to spend a lazy afternoon is with a cold frappe in Yiannis bar on the main street while people watching or listening to local chatter.
The climb to the acropolis is arduous but worth it, for the views of Lindos, St Pauls bay and the neverending blue sea from the ancient castle walls are nothing short of spectacular. On the path towards the acropolis, Lindean ladies sell traditional, hand-embroidered tableware. If the walk is too strenuous, take a donkey (Lindos taxi) to the castle walls.

Within the ancient acropolis site is a relief of a ship, carved in 170 BC by the Lindeans. Walk through the Doric columns, up the "stairs to heaven" to the top level of the acropolis, where the part-renovated Temple of Athena stands, constructed during the 4th century AD.

Directly below the acropolis, adjacent to the newly built town square, lies the ancient theatre. A good proportion of the seating area carved into the rock remains today.

Also within the village are many chuches in different styles, often with intricate frescoes lining the walls. There are many 'Captain's houses', built the 16th to 18th century, whose exquisite architecture is unique to Greece. Many of these have been recently restored under the supervision of the Greek Archaeological Service, and several are now open to the public.
Nightlife in Lindos is vibrant and friendly. The majority of visitors experiencing evening culture in Lindos are couples and families, and increasingly popular wedding parties.Choose from romantic evenings dining on one of the many rooftop tavernas, or relaxing in one of the many welcoming. All bars are English speaking, and make you feel like a local on your first visit. Local children often play in the streets in an evening, and children are welcomed in restaurants and bars until late at night.

There are several nightclubs in Lindos, playing Greek, European and British popular dance music. By law, no loud music can be played after 12pm, so the nightclubs are soundproofed. Nightclubs are easy to find in the evening, yet unimposing on the traditional streets of the village. At the top of the village, at 'ooh-ah corner', an outdoor all-night dance club, the Ampitheatre, can be found, with great views of the morning sunrise. Free taxis to this venue are available from the town square

Lindos village was busy, very pleasant and clean, but involved alot of steep hill walking, however there is a regular free bus service up and down the steep hill to the village, also plenty of taxis. Theres also plenty of donkey rides available.

Lindos has plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. We found the Dionysos the best by far for food and the Ikon cocktail bar later in the evenings the best for drinks.

The beaches were pleasant nice and sandy and the sea was shallow, clear, warm and good for swimming, with beachfront bars and shops.

lindos gardens is well maintained and is on a par with other resorts i saw. there was in house entertainment but we didn't attend any of those evenings. lindos is a pretty cobbled town with little alley ways leading here and there with a nice relaxed atmosphere. lots of roof top restaurants, expensive tho, more than the uk. if you want to see the island take the jeep safari trip, fun guides who know their stuff and worth every penny. a trip to the acropolis is a must, but dont take the donkey ride... would you like someone sitting on YOUR back going up hills in 44degree heat?! beaches are ok, but just ok.
