I've been going to the Palm Court Hotel every year since I was 3 years old, sometimes I have visited more than once a year. I am now 16 years old.

My great grandparents also visit every year and stay for up to 8 weeks.

The staff are always friendly and the rooms are clean and tidy, with fresh towels and linen every day. There is plenty of choice for food including fussy eaters like me. You can request for specialty vegetarian and children's meals as well.

The outdoor pool is ideal as is the indoor pool, although this is slightly small if it is crowded. There are plenty of places to sun bathe including the pool area, terraced area above the pool and the roof top area with a small swimming pool, although this is just strictly for 16 years and over.

There is entertainment on every night which all ages can enjoy...from bingo, kareoke in the bar and a live DJ who gets people up dancing and singing who also plays the guitar and piano an sings.

The location of the hotel is perfect...you turn around the corner and your at the sea front and the bus station is about a 2 minute walk away where you can get a bus to anywhere on the island including sandy beaches. There are several parks and churches dotted about all over the island and there are many shops and places where you can book day outs and trips and also exchange money. There are many of restaurants and cafe's for those who like to eat lunch out or are self catering.

For those you like a bit of a pamper while on holiday there is a hair salon just past the reception area near the luggage room and also for the internet addicts among us there are 2 computers which you can obtain vouchers for to use the internet-mails etc. If you don't want to use the one's in the hotel there is a internet/snooker/pool/darts conjoined cafe across from the bus station with many pool tables, computers with lots of software and internet access including MSN messenger etc.

The locals are really friendly people and have a smile for everyone.

I would definitely recommend staying in the hotel. It is ideal for families of all sizes and ages.

We have recently booked to visit the hotel once again in July.

We visit Malta yearly and have used Malta bargains many times, some good and some not so good but last time I was pleasently surprised.

Hotel was clean enough and our room was clean and air conditioned. Clean towels and sheets daily were a welcome surprise. Food was basic but edible especially the breakfast.

Got a bit fed up with the evening meals but we prefer to eat out anyway and as the holiday cost less than

I can't believe all these bad reports on the hotel. I only went last year and a lot must have changed I was there.

We went to this hotel in a party of 10 adults for a 50th Birthday bash - all couples.

I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget and who wants a cheap and cheerful holiday. We were all inclusive and there was plenty on offer for us. I never ate in the restaurant personally but friends with us did and said the food was great - roast beef dinners, fish etc. There were sandwiches, ice cream, crips and a BBQ on offer to keep you nourished throughout the day. There were also hot and cold drinks available.

The hotel was very clean and tidy and the people there were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were cleaned everyday. They were basic but had all working amenities - just what you need.

The hotel is very near to shops and bars and restaurants. There was entertainment on in the hotel bar in the evening which varied from Kareoke to disco to a couple singing songs about Malta itself. Great, Great Fun !!

We stayed at the Palm Court hotel for one week and found no problems at all. The hotel is quite a bit basic but then so is the rest of Malta, and it's something that you just have to accept.

Between us we had 2 rooms on the ground floor with balconies and ensuite shower rooms. They were both very spacious, clean, tidy and functional. We also had sky TV including the movie channel.

The maid came daily and cleaned our room thoroughly including the toilet and the shower and clean towels were left. The rest of the hotel appeared clean too.

We used the outdoor pool with no problems, I have 2 young children and had no worries about them going into the pool.

The food was fine, 5 different choices every night, including a fish dish and a carvery of 2 meats. The food wasn't exotic, just edible basic dishes.

The location of the hotel is good for the bus terminal and very close to the sea front.

We did find the restaurant staff very miserable, but they did work hard and keep everything clean and tidy.

We didn't use the entertainment, but we didn't hear any complaints.

I have visited Malta several times and have now stayed in 3 different hotels, this hotel is no worse than the others. It's very basic but we paid a very basic price, we will have no hesitation in using this hotel again.

Anyone thinking of going to this apology for an hotel -just don't do it!! It is absolutely awful. How the Maltese authorities can ever have accorded it a 4 star status (the hotel itself claims to be better than some 5 star) I will never know; believe me, the Maltese version of 4 star is very diffrent indeeed to what we see elsewhere in Europe.

It was so bad that we were on a flight home within 24 hours - and we were by no means alone in wanting to get out of this place as quickly as possible. If you saw the Holiday from Hell coverage then it was every bit as bad as was shown.

The room that we were allocated was filthy. The bathroom a disgrace. The bed was damp and not somewhere you would want to sleep once let alone twice. The electrics in the room were highly suspect to say the least. The rooftop pool had items floating in it and was black (albeit it was shut when we were there). The children's pool was so opaque that you couldn't see the bottom - it just would not have been allowed in the UK. The seats in the lounge area were ripped and had that shiny greasy look that comes from many many many years use.

And as for the food - suffice it to say that having taken one look at it we immediately opted to eat out for the remainder of the 24 hours we were there.

Yes, it was a cheap holiday - and we didn't expect the Ritz. But we did expect somewhere that was clean, tidy and had at least a modicum of edible food.

And to make matters even worse, it took the hotel ten months to reply substantively to our letter of complaint (and even then only when ABTA's legal people became involved). The video recording that I have is testament to everything that I say above.

As I say, if you are thinking of going and you are of sane mind - don't!

This hotel is a disgrace; you would be better off staying in a doss house because this is what this hotel is like. Grey threadbare sheets, grey smelly towels, it made us feel dirty. You would have to be mad to stay at this hotel.

When we all arrived at the hotel at 2.00 am we were tired and expecting to go to sleep but could we? No!!

The hotel was disgusting. First of all the coach left us at the airport so we had to wait an hour for a man just to pick us and some other people up.

When we got there our suitcases were just left outside unattended. It looked pretty nice on the outside and as you go in, but you turn round that corner to go into your apartment and the walls are falling down, lifts are small, dirt everywhere, stairs breaking it was disgusting.

Arrived in our room which was boiling no air con and the room was in pieces, we wanted to change rooms for air con the 5th floor which was hardly no different it was 40 euros just for air con and 10 euros for a remote to the television.

Staff are moody and there faces need a smile they look so moody. Balconies are horrible you feel like your going to fall off them.

Swimming pool is green and you cant see the bottom, we didnt try the swimming pool as somebody from the hotel walked down the steps and could not see the bottom of the pool and slit all her leg.

There was no entertainment really only if you go out. Bar was empty, seats to sit in were gross and ripped. So we all wanted to change hotels as well as loads of other people waiting in line we had to pay about

The Palm Court Hotel, well what can I say?

We arrived in the middle of the night, we were doing the same I wonder which one's ours hoping that one of the cleaner more modern hotels were going to be. When the rep announced were at the end of the road everyone for Palm Court. I looked up and saw the dusty road with the weathered and what looked like a block of flats from a council estate scheme.

Then had to queue down the road to book into the hotel. Once in we soon found out we were on the top floor which had a very unsafe looking balcony.

There were message boards up with information of several cases of food poisoning; one mother had spent two days in hospital when her children had been taken ill by the food. WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T EAT ANYTHING THERE
