I liked this hotel and its staff, its true that the middle aged woman on reception could do with customer care lessons. The head waiter runs around like a headless chicken. When you get to know him you realise its just his job that hes trying to safe guard. Our room was always clean as was our bedding and towels. The food is good, better than some 4 star hotels ive stayed in their. The managment and the evening receptionist (an old happy fella) even helped us collect plastic bottle tops (charity) for a very poorley little boy in England, they were so happy to help us. Nice out door area eg pools seating. Entertainment good most nights.

Pan Pawl Hotel, the staff were very unhelpful the dragon on reception needed lesson in manners, all the guest we talked also complained of the food being basic, the cockaroaches in outside toilets, the service in the restaraunt bacame shambolic. there is no entertainment for children apart from smallgames room (take loads of 25c pieces with you) the most saddest things is the pool its not safe for small children, there is no shallow end once off the steps and your head is submerged unles your over 6 foot You cannot see the botttom clearly very dirty. this hotel is mainly for older people we would never go back to this hotel.

We arrived at the San Pawl in the early hours of the morning and given our rooms. There had been a mix up with the rooms and we were put in a standard room instead of a superior room. The standard rooms were smelly and so small. The next morning we were changed to a supereior room, what a difference much bigger with air conditioning, fridge and hair dryer. The rooms were cleaned daily and the maids were very friendly. The food was bland and not that nice. There was a childrens menu offered daily which was quite nice. The hotel entertainment was repetitive and very boring. The Thursday night barbacue is nice but very busy so expect to wait a long time for your food. The hotel pool is very dangerous and deep unless you are a good swimmer i would not recommend swimming. The pool is also very dirty and my husband and son have both picked up ear infections caused by the water in the pool.

they have different standard of rooms, Basic is very below standard. chip board under mattress, every think smelt of smoke, worst rooms i have ever seen. superior rooms a bit better.

the food was just passable,You could tell that any leftovers appeared on the next days menu in some sort or another,

Swimming pools had a dangerous drop in levels.

Entertainment was ok but hard to get seats due to it being open to non residents.

we found the maid service ok.Towels being changed daily. We were told that hotel had deteriorated since cut backs by new owners.Outside the hotel is very poor for any one with a walking disability/or wheelchairs/prams.

The room were not cleaned properly linen wasn't changed often enough and towels where cream and they were supposed to be white and they where rough.
The food wasn't very nice but it was edible there wasn't enough choice. Every evening meal was followed by "cake",supposed to be apple pie, lemon meringue !!! All looked like they came from the same bakery and all tasted the same (somewhat soapy.)
The hotel location is fantastic only a 5 minute walk to the sea front and the local town of Buggiba. The Maltese people are friendly enough and say good evening to you as you walk past.
The hotel staff where lovely apart from the lady on reception with glasses and curly hair. The waiters and waitresses where very helpful and friendly always willing to please. The outside bar staff also friendly and have a laugh with there customers.
The entertainment was OK if you got there early enough to grab a seat as the "locals" come most nights but especially at the weekends.
We are going back to the hotel in September 2004 this year and are looking forward to it.

When we arrived (after a delayed flight and delays at Malta airport due to baggage handling problems)we weren't even offered a glass of water.
Our room was tiny and very hot.The "air-conditioning"
was a ceiling fan which made odd noises.
The room was not cleaned every day and on the days it was supposed to have been cleaned it was still quite "grubby".We upgraded to a superior room, this was wonderful.Proper air-conditioning and much cleaner.
The food.It was edible but very basic. Not enough "traditional" choices.
Good location.Just 2 minutes away from the sea front.Walk just to the street corner and experience the Maltese buses.Cheap way to get around the island.
Most of the hotel staff were really nice. One lady on reception was a bit of a "dragon".The Airtours rep was a very pleasent young man.
The entertainment wasn't brilliant but "entertaining" never the less. The Maltese people come to see it so you have to grab a seat quick.(More so at the weekends)
We are going back this year, looking forward to it as well.

The breakfast and evening menus provide a great choice of food, hot and cold.

The room was cleaned daily, at your convenience and you are provided with fresh towels. After a couple of nights you get used to the noise from the ceiling fan and from outside the hotel.

Hotel staff are kept busy and are very pleasant and helpful.

The entertainment was enjoyable and it was nice that local people attended so that different cultures come together.

I have been going to Malta every year since 1990 and have used the hotel from the start. I have seen it improve every year. It went under new management last year and it has kept its charm. In fact I am going next week for a wedding.

Facilities
1. There are 2 pools indoor pool has a section roped off which is shallow. The outdooor has a seperate kiddies pool.
2. A small games room.
3. TV Lounge
4. Gym
5. Sauna & Whirlpool
6. Live entertainment every night

Food - The meals I found very good for a three star plus hotel. Very good choice.

Breakfast
Select from full english or continetal (or mix and match).

Evening meals
Select from salad, fish, meat.

They do supply lunches (Extra) again you have a good selection.

I spent 5 weeks here and found the food really good plenty of choices. The staff were friendly, helpful, polite. The hotel is in a good location. 5 minutes walk to the sea,and bus stops to go around the Island. The Maltese are a wonderful race.and Around The San Pawl and throughout the beautiful Island it is safe to be out alone as the crime rate is low.The indoor pool is ideal for kiddies and adults. Both pools are clean and the hotel is maintained to a high standard. 24 hour reception.and good security. The only drawback was if one wanted to stay in the bar to enjoy the entertainment, it is almost impossibe to get a seat, due to non residents filling the place.I am returning to the San pawl in November, for 6weeks.I have nothing but praise for it.

This hotel is shabby and staff whilst seem to be friendly, we had the maid eat some chocolate bars out of our box left on the side, the food is awful and lacks imagination, the pools are really dangerous being so deep (nearly 3 m) there are no facilities
