I got back from Club Praia de Rocha 6 weeks ago and wouldnt go back. It was horrible! When we arrived in the middle of the night, the room we had was disgusting. The sheets were dirty and so were the towels - big holes in it and covered in dirty marks and lipstick! The floor was filthy and so was the bath. The tiles and shower curtain were covered in mould. The kitchen had also been used and not cleaned. We were moved to the block accross which was a bit better. At least it was clean, but the tiles and shower curtain were still mouldy. The pool was fine but the sun loungers were filthy and really uncomfortable - u also had to pay for them!
Overall, the staff were OK but I would definately avoid going to this complex.

I have been to Portugal every year for ten years, and this was the first time i have ever been to Praia de Rocha, and the last. We drove in to the high rise hole and was given keys to a room in which we found a fridge in the middle of the room unplugged in a puddle of water and its entire contents on the floor in bags. There was urine in the bathroom and dirt ingrained in the bath and all over the walls. We overlooked a mud bank which had rubbish thrown all over it. The reps were non existent and we were not 'allowed' the reps number. After eight phone calls to England and one night of hell we were moved. Don't let this put you off Portugal because the rest of it is incredible and beautiful.

What an absolute disaster this holiday was - the room was absolutely filthy, beds had been changed on our arrival but nothing else had, and they didn't get changed again for the fortnight we were there!!! Had to go and buy disinfectant to clean fridge and bathroom. The room was in a sad state of disrepair, cupboard doors hanging off.
Had clothes stolen, no air conditioning made sleeping unbearable and you couldn't leave the windows open because of the noise. Loads of drunks and fighting every night. Cockroaches the size of rats in room and the maze of corridoors. A child cut himself in the pool on a broken tile, and the pool attendant didn't even have a first aid kit.
You had to pay for loungers by the pool, and it got so packed there you couldn't get 1 anyway.
I haven't got 1 nice thing to say about this hotel, it was appalling and we would never stay there or recommend it to anyone, not even your worst enemy!!!
Just one thing - thank god we weren't there full board like one family we met, they went for the first meal and then had to find money to eat out as it was so awful.
Dreadful dreadful place that should be demolished and since coming home we have found that most of the travel agents in our town have stopped advertising it, just a pity they hadn't before we booked!!

This was the worst holiday we have every had. On arriving to this "oversized wedding cake" of a building we were (eventually) shown to our room.
After booking the block on the other side of the road, we were told that there had been an error and we were in Block C (surprise, surprise). The lift wasn't working therefore we had to cart prams and luggage up 4 flights of stairs to our grubby, smelly room which delightfully looked out on the rubbish collection area (which incidently was collected at 5am every morning and not quietly!).
The patio door had a big crack in it (filled with putty, but actually looked like chewing gum.

The hotel was very poorly managed and the apartment we were very gruby and in need of maintenance. It was infrequently cleaned and I dont think the towels were replaced in the week we were there. Never saw any of the staff even near to a smile!
The worst thing was the pool - very dirtly around the pool area and lots of flys - and take care! in the morning the Chlorine was so strong both my son and I could not see after diving under. We stayed around the pool for about 1 hour in our weeks holiday - that was enough!
However the sea (very cold) and beach were great - good rocks and caves and we had sun the whole week.
Good eating out (recomend the "Steak House" at the back of the hotel with good reasonably priced food including Indonesian and also the "Sol E Mar" on the beach.
If you are self catering take a case of essentials (tea/coffee/cereal). They are quite expensive in the shops. The utensils in the apartment are so sparce you will do well to be able to cook anything so take more money and eat out.
I would never go to this hotel or area again. Back to the Canaries or Greece for us next year.

This was our first family holiday abroad and really looked forward to it. I really enjoyed Portugal overall but this place would have put me completly off. Rooms and bathroom grubby! I acually seen the maid clean the bath with the mop and then clean the floor. Food was absolutely mingin they must think we all eat chips. Towels where changed once a week and we had to queue at 8 in the morning to pay and leave our sunbeds over. The pool was great the kids loved it as long as they enjoyed it that was okay. Entertainment was crap I think the female reps enjoyed doing their aerobics and dance routines though and the males enjoyed dressing up as a woman he was very funny. All in all I wouldnt like to think this is how clean the apartments are all over Portugal as I think bleach carpet bombs need to be dropped all over the place!!!!

After booking a late deal on someone's recommendations and having never seen 'Holidays from Hell' this hotel was a BIG disappointment.
The pool was packed and noisy and the bar the same.
The accommodation (thankfully self catering) was very basic and had bizarre rubber curtains. There was building and noise from diggers etc outside of the complex for about 12 hours a day. The reps were next to useless when asked for advice or information.
Despite the fantastic beaches in Portugal the experience has certainly put me off ever going back.
