When we first arrived at the hotel we noticed straight away how big it was and how packed out it was, people coming and going in the reception all the time.

When we got to our room it was big but also it was dirty...the floor was dirty the walls were dirty the bathroom was old and I'd say it all needs refurbishing or knocking down and building again. While we was there for 2 weeks the towels were changes 3 times which was ok but the bed linen was only changed once so that wasn

I have just come back from a week in this hotel with my fiance. After reading the reviews like everyone else I was nervous. Reading the reviews however turned out to be a good thing. We expected the worst and so anything better is a bonus.

The hotel is not that bad, rooms were clean and the 1 bed apartment was huge for two people. Maids could have done better sweeping the sand off the floor but the beds were made everyday but one. The rooms are dated and need refurbishing but if you just use it as a place to sleep it is adequate.

I would not pay more than I did (

Hi went to Club Hotel in June of this year. After reading some of the reviews was dreading going there, all I can say is don't beleive everything you read.

Hotel is basic but clean, great for kids and teenagers plenty of company, pool area fine and plenty of space for loungers.

Resort very nice and lots of great places to eat and drink.

We had a great holiday met all lot of great people and going back next year.

A couple of more comments about the Clube Praia Da Rocha
The dreaded Block 3 is being refurbished at the moment, though I believe that there are people staying there. The fare to Portimao on the little buses is 1 euro. And although there are four lifts in Block 2 you can only call two of them from the ground floor. The buttons are blanked off on all other floors. I am still trying to work out why. I`ve tried to upload pics onto the website but having a bit of trouble doing so. If anyone wants them email me.

we were quite anxious about embarking on our week in club praia de rocha, having read all the stories of the dreaded block 3, lack of hygiene and rude staff. thankfully we were pleasantly surprised!
Our apartment was airy, clean and spacious, with lots of windows and a roomy enough balcony with a pool view. Granted, it was the thirteenth floor, but there were 4 lifts to use to travel up and down. The cleanliness was pretty good.even though it was october,we never needed to turn on the heating once, and the water was always hot. Didn't sample any hotel food, but the bars are fine. there is also a little supermarket on the ground floor which was great for crossaints oj and wine...
Staff were helpful and efficent, couldn't fault them.
Entertainment: the hotel organises a host of excursions to water parks, zoos, sightseeing and markets at a reasonable price
I would visit this hotel again as it was impressive for the price we paid.
A few tips i would give people visiting the hotel:
the balconies don't look very childproof, so be vgilant and lock patio doors
buy callcards and use them on the payphones near the main road, its much cheaper.
bring an extra towel or two as it is not permitted to take the hotel towels out of the building.
book your excursions early to avoid dissapointment
don't believe all the bad reports because it will cause unneccessary worry
have fun!

We flew back to Bristol Airport last Sunday 12 Sept 04 after spending our first visit to The Algarve.

We booked through a Travel Agnecy, in advance for one week, SC. We consider that we were 'ripped off' In total for one week self catering this holiday cost us

I was very worried after reading some of the reviews, and wasn't looking forward to the holiday as a result. Well I wasted time and energy worrying!!!

We stayed in block 1, floor 6 (2 apts). Apartment was huge, beds made everyday!!! Bathroom cleaned also, I brought an extra towel myself so that wasn't a problem.

Found the reception staff extremly professional and polite and I was so glad that I hadn't told the rest of our party of the bad reviews as they were pleased.

Location was great.

Maybe the fact that we went in September meant that the pool area wasn't too busy (we always got beds) and possibly we were just 'lucky' but I am submitting a 'good' review.

If you are going shortly enjoy I know we did

We were in the dreaded block 3 and to be honest it was not as bad as we expected. The room was very spacious and the furniture was showing signs of wear and tear ie it was quite old.

The cleanliness was fine when we went into the room but the maids could have done a better job maintaining this throughout our stay but saying this it was acceptable. The hotel is in a good location, very central.

Some people were complaining about the hotel being over a main road however there was a bridge to walk over the road right outside the main door of the hotel.

I never stayed in the hotel to experience the entertainment so cant mark that. The staff were helpful enough but not cheerful and professional.

The hotel had 3 pools and the pool areas were clean and a good size, the only downpoint was it cost 1 euro a sun lounger. The only reason I would not return to the hotel is we never vist the same resort twice. This accomadation is value for money with the size of the rooms and location being its best points.
