after reading reviews on this site, i was a little worried, although we only paid about

We have just returned from Club Praira da Rocha and was pleasently suprised, was very worried after reading the reviews on this hotel.
We went half board and food was ok best thing about it was you got free drinks which was a added bonus. The hotel was very basic, needs attention and a makeover, bathrooms a bit tatty and sometimes a bit of a smell from the drains I think thats what it was anyway.
Was five Min's from the beautiful beach up a hill though so was a bit tiring on my 5 year old. The hotel staff were polite, the entertainment was great for the kids, we saw a magic show and a Brazilian dance show.
You really have to make your own mind up about the hotel for your self, we didn't pay a lot for the holiday so I suppose you get what you pay for at the end of the day.
The pool is big and there is a separate kiddies pool very cold ! We were on the tenth floor and would have preferred not to keep getting the lifts all the time as not a big lover of lifts.
I would go back on a cheap deal again.

Stayed at this hotel self catering. Room was cleaned regularly, although on arrival room had not been cleaned. Beds in living area were a nightmare they creaked every time you moved not good if your a light sleeper!
This hotel could definitely do with a make over it was very basic a bit shabby to be honest!!
It was a cheap holiday would probably go back if could get it as cheap again.

My husband and I and another couple have just came back from the club Praia Da Rocha.
I would describe the hotel as many others do, it definatly needs some refubishment and has very basic furnishings.
We were situated on the 9th floor, not sure which block, which overlooked the pool, which was thankfully being cleaned at the time, as it did look very dirty, but I guess that could have been because it is February!
The maid service was basic to say the least, they changed the towels twice in the week and I never noticed a smile no matter how hard I tried!
The rental on the tv sets was disgusting I thought, we paid 13 euros for 3 days, ive never stayed anywhere where you have to hire your telly in order to get your kettle and toaster free.
The entertainment at the hotel wasnt good at all, just karaoke or bingo, although again as it were mainly older people staying perhaps they prefer bingo!

We stayed at Club praia de Rocha was worried having read lots of bad reviews was definitely pleasantly surprised hotel was clean, room basic but adequate. Boys loved pool which was cleaned daily.
Found lifts a bit slow was on the eighth floor so needed to use them but all in all a good holiday got a good deal was excellent value for money would definitely go again.

Arrived at the Hotel at approximately 9.30pm. Allocated a room on the 2nd floor. Got in to apartment noticed long black hairs on the floors. Gave the benefit of the doubt as it was night time. Expected that the apartment would be cleaned the next day. On return to the apartment in the afternoon of the next day still was not cleaned. I returned to reception and asked when are the rooms cleaned and the reply I got was "never" and then a laugh. The guy at Reception said "well they are never cleaned properly are they"?. On the third day I decided having a 2 year old child in this dirt was not appropriate so I went off to the shop for some rubber gloves and disinfectant to do the floors. Bearing in mind I was 6 months pregnant also I cleaned the floors and took 2 buckets of dirty water off them. At one stage I was almost sick.
Reception staff were nice.
The entertainment was very limited only went once.
Towels were not changed regularly and cleaning staff were not very nice when asked to replace them. My parents accompanied us on this holiday. They stayed at these apartments in October 2005 and recommended them to us but unfortunately were totally disgusted with the apartments this time.
I thought the pool area was a bit dirty. I did not like the salt water pools either.
I would not return to these apartments again and definitely will not be recommending them.

I read all the reviews after I had the holiday booked and was dreading going.
However, got a surprise. We stayed in the Atlantico block and they were lovely.
Rooms were cleaned everyday together with towels. Bed clothes were changed once a week. The rooms were very spacious. We rented a television and there was also kettle, iron, and fan for rent from as little as one euro a day.
We knew it was a self catering holiday in apartments so got what we paid for.
Anyone that is fussy should be paying for and staying in a five star hotel. The pool was very busy; you had to be up queuing before 9 to get a sun bed (one euro a day).
There were four lifts and we never had to wait long for one and we got the tenth floor which we had requested.
The beach and main strip was only a few min walk from the apartments.
No air-conditioning but we knew this before we went. Safety deposit boxes in rooms.
Would definitely return.

The rooms we had were very spacious, but refurbishment is needed. As we were self catering a kettle & toaster was expected but only provided on a hire basis. The room was cleaned 5 out of 7 days, the sheets are only changed once a week and towels every 4 days.
Pool was very good for the kids, buy air beds it saves hire of sun beds and they can also be used at the beach
This was a very basic hotel which I had expected and I am glad it was a last minute bargain as I don't think I would pay full brochure price.
I would go back to this hotel if it was refurbished as it was in a good location.

Four adults two couples stayed at this hotel, nice helpful staff greeted us.
The rooms are very spacious but are a little dated but I have to say we had clean towels and bedding change every other day.
The pool area was a bit to crowded for us but anyone going with children wouldn't have a problem, easy acsess to shops ,restaraunts,and main promenade.
Take a taxi to Portomau for 3 euro buses go to most resorts from out side of the hotel.
The hotel provides a childrens club ,a baby sitting service, a large games room with 9 pool tables rides for smaller children and entertainment in the video bar in the evenings with parrot shows disco ect.
All in all we had a lovely stay here and are going back next year

The Hotel very well located. Five minutes from the beach and all restaurants.
Self catering, 1 week. Room was very spacious, could have done with a lick of paint (small details thats all).
Pool cold but would get used to it, would return there again.
