Babalu apartments are very very basic! The beds were painful to sleep on, so much so we had to take the foam from the sofa and add it to the bed to even attempt to sleep.
Take your own kettle as the kitchen consists of 2 rings, fridge and a sink (no plugs in kitchen or bathroom) this apartment was one of the newly furbished ones!
Staff seemed friendly enough but be warned when the lift breaks down it is 127 steps up to get out of the place.
Definitely go on the jeep safari - great fun. Food in the top commercial centre was fine.
Watch out for over enthusiastic sellers in camera/video shops!

My family and I visited this hotel in November last year this was my first self catering holiday!
The maids cleaned the rooms every day.
The location was good as we were only about 5 min walk to the Europa centre! This had plenty of shops, bars, a supermarket and pleny of places to eat!

Clean, nice hotel located close to local shops but at the top of a hill so quite a hike down to the beach and an even bigger hike to get back! (You could always get a taxi!)

The hotel is located at the top of the hill which some people may seem as a put off but believe me the breathtaking views from the rooms are worth it.
The Europa centre is only a five minute walk away and the main Commercial centre is about 15 minutes (about 4 in taxi).
The rooms are simple but well equipped.
I have been to Puerto rico 4 times and I have stayed in the Colina Mar twice, Puerto Azul, and the Babalu apartments. When I go again I will definitely stay in the Babalu as it was the best out of the three I have stayed in.

This is the WORST place I have ever stayed in all my years of holiday making.
We arrived and on the first day we hired a Safe to place all our valuables into on the second day we arrived back early to our room and found the hotel receptionist in our room with the safe open and half our belongings on him.
The next few days was spent in the police station and having to spend all the next day in a local court as witness to what happened then because we pressed charges on the receptionist the managment asked us to leave this hotel which makes us believe all the staff are involed in the safe scams.
Never ever consider staying at this hotel!!!!
p.s. I will make all the police reports are available to anyone who wishes to check this up.
