Quiet, hotel based resort. No town or village to walk into too but thats half the beauty of the place as it is for beach lovers who wish to stay at reasonably good standard hotels, who are looking for a Caribbean ideal with out the massive expense you would expect in places like Barbados, St Lucia etc. The beach and Ocean is breathtakingly lovely!

The Cayo Guillermo resort consists of four hotels on a stretch of white sandy beach stretching for about 1.5 miles.

The beach was kept clean of sea weed by a morning patrol. Whilst the beach is narrow at high tide the sea is relatively shallow a long way out. Not very exciting if you are a strong swimmer, but ideal for the nervous and the young.

There always appears to be a wind, while we were there it varied from a pleasant gentle breeze to a full on gale on one occasion. The wind helped to keep it bearable when the temperature touched the 90s.

All hotels grounds are landscaped and generally very attractive.

Not much to see but a reasonable walk from one end to the other.

The beach was one of the best I have ever seen!!!!! so easy to find a secluded spot, absolute paradise! occasionaly some seaweed on the beach, but this was cleaned up every day, Lovely when the tides goes out as little small banks of sand appear in the sea, and you can pull your sunlounger out to them. Most hotels have waiters who come down to the beach to collect your drink order and bring it back to you, so you don't have to lift a finger!!!!

Outside the hotel was kept nice, although the colour of it puts you off!! Entertainment was awful and nothing else to do at all in the evenings. What your not told is that the hotel is miles away from the main island and going any where costs!! The sistering hotel wasn't much better but try one as you enter the island - standards much higher.

Beach was stunning - although you have to get up early to get a space.

I would NEVER go to this resort ever again - It would have been bad enough as a normal holiday but something as special as your Honeymoon please don't.

The resort was very quiet - only 4 hotels on Cayo Guillermo. We had entertainment in our hotel and could also use the facilities of other hotels on the island and Cayo Coco. There was also a bowling alley next door. The beach was beautiful and very clean - heard some people moaning about the seaweed - unfortunately you can't control nature so wish they would stop whingeing. A tractor came down the beach to gather up any seaweed that was on the shore - personally, it didn't cause me any problems.
All in all a fantastic place.

I find it difficult to report on the resort as the hotel was/is the resort and was for me substandard. The beach itself was beautiful and kept clean. As for the entertainment, my wife and I took in only two shows during our stay. We would visit the area again but definitely not the hotel, it spoiled our first visit to Cuba.

If you take the courtesy bus from the Hotel to the more remote beach's you will find more finer white sands with little fishes, excellant waves.

This is what the carribbean is all about.
What more does one want!

Take your book, hire a bed, get a drink and enjoy - Bliss
