the resort was ok, it was what we wanted, quiet, hotel based on the sea front. word of advice, dont leave your hotel, unless you enjoy being hounded.

purely a hotel resort with nothing to do outside of the hotel complex.
Loads of seaweed washed up on the beach together with horse and camel manure.
No evidence of entertainment as out of season when we went

Resort outside the hotel was bear and barren but it is a hot place, down side was when you walked outside the hotel gates (which were maned and opened the gages for you )the taxis and the horse drawn carriages men were after you just be firm (no thanks) busees were cheap also the trains, taxis were cheap but fix a price first, beach was a little dirty and full of litter this I put down to being out of season.monastir was good also sousse, and port el kantaoui and cheap to travel to under your own steam but be wear when you vist the medinas you will be pesterd to buy things but it was all good fun we go back in oct 2004 cant wait.

The resort of Skanes is quite small. Made up of a handle of hotels and a few shops. Nearest is Monastir where you haggle for your wares of most tourist items to bring home with you. The people are nice and kind.

we visited monistir which is a beautiful little town.it caters for the holiday makers.lots of bargains there, and lots of history.we found the tunisian people very friendly ,and helpful.there is no bars in the towns which we could see,and dont expect tunisia to be like spain.
there is a fairground in monistir which we visited a few times with our children on the night time.
we also visited sousse which is much bigger than monister.i found sousse not to clean but it had much history.i found sousse a very busy town.but there was lots to see there ,and again lots of bargians .
out of the 2 towns i found monister the better one.
yes we will be visiting sousse ,and monister again.
as for skanes were our hotel was we saw nothing of interest there.(but the hotel sahara beach made up for that brilliant hotel).

Skanes can`t really be classed as a resort, as it only really consists of hotels, each offering their own entertainment.

It was very clean out on the street, and on the beach. There were some camels on some scrubland opposite the hotel, but they weren`t a problem.

There isn`t really any entertainment outside the hotels, but we were warned that it isn`t always safe to go out at night anyway.

The beach was gorgeous, but the sand was so hot it nearly takes the bottom of your feet off!

It was the hotel`s own section of the beach, but there were some locals there. I don`t know how they could swim with all their clothes on, but they did!

And finally, yes, I would go to Skanes again, but at a different time of year, when it isn`t quite so hot.

The only thing to be wary of with the resort is the jellyfish. Small, almost invisible, sting like a ******* !!

Otherwise, spot on.

I would not advise anyone to go to Skanes. There are no bars or restaurants to go to in the evening. You would have to take a taxi to get anywhere.
