Roquetas is a mainly Spanish resort but having been there before this was no surprise. The resort was clean especially along the promenade towards the Lighthouse. The beach is mainly shingle but it doesn't blow in your face in the really strong winds that the coast is prone to! Entertainment was mainly hotel based and low key. The famous flies were few and far between. We've been in June and the resort is full of them at that time of year. We really love Roquetas and hope to return in 2007.

The resort was quiet but well maintained with many bars and restaurants offering good food.

Not too much in the way of entertainment - the hotels are relied on to provide this. The beach was clean and well kept.

Although we wouldn't return to this resort the Costa Almeria is well worth a visit and we have bought a property there.

The resort is undergoing some building work and a 'facelift'. This activity did not impinge on our holiday at all and we did not hear any noise from it.

The area was quiet, but boasted a lovely promenade, taking you to the town, where there were plenty of shops and bars.
Make the effort and drive out to the small villages of Mojacar.

The market there was good, and Nijar for all the ceramics, and a taste of the real Spain!!!!!!!!!!!

The spanish holiday in Almeria, but it doesn't get busy on the beach really. The sea was chilly with waves, but loads of people were in there enjoying the water.

Loads of great places to eat and our son liked the m25 english resturant which is five minutes from the hotel with a full english menu and english tv with a big wide screen inside.

If you like your breakfast I would recomend the miners arms which is just around the corner and does a beautiful breakfast. There is also Europa which is nice if you like pizza and also a place called the tavern which I did not rate much along with a resturant called the highlander.

There is a train which takes you around the whole resort and takes around 40 minutes in total and costs aprox 5 euros and there is a few horse and cart rides which cost around 4 euros per person.

Also great fun is the quad bikes and for 30 euros you can hire a quad bike and rip up and down the whole resort for a whole hour ( great fun )

At the very end of the resort is a little fun fair for children with a few rides and not packed out and loads more shops and places to eat along there as well and place to hire paddle boats out.

On the whole the resort is very very clean and the beach is not bad but not sand and there is plenty to do around the resort and would I go back well the answer has to be, YES YES YES YES YES !

During our cab journey from the airport, I was shocked at how big Roquetas is. I had read that it was a small Spanishy resort, but seemed huge to me, with a lot of construction going on. I was getting quite worried until we reached the Playa Serena end where we were staying, which has wider, cleaner streets with some beautiful villas and nice hotels.

The beach was very nice but the sea was extremely rough when we went. Therefore we only went once, as the kids weren't keen.

We found some very nice restaurants, La Grappa (Italian), El Meson Jamon - very Spanish always busy, El Bodegon. And our favourite was Aida - huge plates of food, very good service and rather large measures - watch out! For evening entertainment we found the Caribbean Breezer music bar great fun. Errol who runs it with his wife was very welcoming and obviously wants the business to work. They have live music every evening and some special theme nights - a definite must if you want a bit of life - but watch out for the cocktails - they're lethal!

The lady who runs W da Wakes was extremely helpful on our first night, suggesting places to go and she even gave us a map!

We did a boat trip - glass bottom - but don't expect to see anything. It was good fun. We got the tickets from the little land train kiosk and were picked up and brought back included in the price.

All in all a nice resort with plenty of little shops close by and lots of restaurants to choose from.

Nice selection of bars and resturants. Good for shopping. To get around the resort if you wish you can pick up the mini train wch runs each hour, or get a hourse and trap ride!Beach quite nice with shingle. Always very quite. Not sure why? The sea was quite rough too! Lovely promanrd, which is nice for a stroll along each evening, with bars long some of the strip. Spanish people in the area quite plesant, very Spanish resort which was great! Lots of Tapas if you like this. Area also very clean and tidy!

The resort is mainly Spanish Family's which is good, no larger louts, plenty of bars and resturants, not a lot of places to visit unless you want to travel a fair distance,
Ideal for a relaxing holiday and safe for children.

Resort is v spanish orientated and some people we met complained about this but I love it.

There isnt a great deal of nightlife, its mainly bar orientated rather than nightclubs. there are some good bars though. try the Newton Loungue, v trendy place popular with the young spaniads. fudpuckers next door also looked fun. we stumbled upon a small bar called the Queens which was part of the Hotel Playa Azul. They made magnificant massive cocktails which cost bout 5 euros but were as big as a pint. I recommend the gin fizz!! stay clear of the one called La Bombe tastes like mouthwash.

The restaurant Ayda served really good pealla. yum, waiters a bit pervy but what can you do?

There isnt actually that much to do in Roquetes de Mar. I do want to visit again but Id make more of an effort to do things.

There's a really cheap and frequent bus service which you can take to the city of Almeria, the surrounding villages, the waterpark and the shopping centre. The water park costs about 16 euros but well worth it if your into that kind of thing and the shoppping center, the Grand Plaza is also a good afternoon out. It had fantastic huge supermarket which is really cheap and I would totally recommend if your staying self catering, much cheaper than anything in town, theres also perfumeries and tobaconists as well as lots of restaurants and shops like Dorothy Perkins and Top shop.

Lovely place, looks like its going to get a lot bigger and busier within the next few years, so go while you can.

A lot of litter left for days.building sites everywhere but this tended to be at the back of the resort away from the main resort area where all the bars and nightlife is.
Not a lot of entertainment OK if you want a nice quiet relaxing holiday.More of a resort at the moment for the Spanish which is fair enough by me but also more for the 40+ or families etc.Definately not for the Benidorm mob!!
Beach we found to be very good and clean with a lot of water sports etc.
Would visit this resort again but in a few years time.
On last thing that started to spoil our holiday were the flies, everywhere through the day, in your food, I suppose this is because of the heat it was over 100 degrees, so much so that lots of people were buying fly swotters.Local shops must be making a fortune !
