Roquetas is a great place for a family holiday. Very clean and friendly.

No loud discos or 18-30 bars.we ate out every night and didnt have a bad meal.

Choices varied from cheap cafe bars to nice restaurants.

Lovely long promenade, great for walks, long deserted beach.

All in all an excellent resort which we will visit again(next year hopefully).

Roquetas is a very clean resort, but be aware there is a lot of development going on especially around the Playa Serena Golf Course and towards the new area of Serena Sur.

I have been going to the resort for 15 years and for me it is beginning to lose its Spanish appeal by becoming over developed.

The prom is great and runs for abou three miles - all on the flat it is ideal for the disabled (infact the resort is ideal for the disabled) and those who are infirmed.

There is a restaurant called Oasis, with very friendly staff, say hello to Salvador and Adrian our waiters.

We hired a car for a week from Almericar(£120.00) We went to Alcazaba castle in Almeria town very good, we also drove to Granada to Alhambra Palace (booked in car hire shop), which wasn't as good as expected. We also had our best day at Mini Hollywood in Tabernas it was easy to drive to(about 40 mins)tickets were bought there 19 euros adults. It was well worth a visit a brilliant day, but very very hot!

The weather for our 2 weeks was fantastic from high 80's into 100's stifling somedays, good job there was a breeze most days.

We had no problem with mosquitoes, but they do have a big fly problem, which was very annoying.

The beach is fantastic looking but not sandy, it's very stoney, which we didn't like if you love sandy beaches it's not for you.

The sea is very rough, and deep, but still lovely to look off your balcony at.

We all had a good time, but won't return to Roquetas De Mar. Not because we didn't like it, but we've been there done that!!

The resort of Roquetas was superb.

There was constantly cleaners sweeping the streets.
The entertainment was practically non existent in the Urbanizacion Playa Serena.

There is a super bar/restaurant called The Highlander opposite the Portobello with friendly staff and very cheap food and drink.

It shows all televised Scottish football which was very good. There was a restaurant called Ayda opposite the Playalinda that was super, good staff and good food.

The beach was of great standards with there being plenty of sun loungers.

Roquetas is a great resort.

Staying at the Zoraida complex we were kind of half between the two different areas. It would take about a 20-30 mins stroll down to the old part of the town where the harbour is and the wonderful fish restaurants. The castle and lighthouse were there as well. In the other direction it would take about 20 mins to reach the Sabinal hotel with the small amusement park for the kids. There are a few shops and restaurants here as well but if you carry on walking pass the Sabinal for another 10 mins you will hit the main part of the resort with shops, restaurants and bars.

There are a few English bars here. One of the best was the M25 where the kids were made extremely welcome and were given lollipops and glowing bracelets. They could also use the playstation and computer there for a couple of Euros. The food is good (especially the gravy) and you must have some fudge cake (absolutely delicious).

There is a small train that will take you around the resort.

The Gran Plaza shopping centre (90 Euros by bus) has mainly clothes and shoe shops but is ideal if you want a couple of hours away from the pool.

Sun beds on the beach look very inviting with thick mattress cushions on them. A word of warning. How many other people have been sunning themselves on those mattresses. They are a breeding ground for fungal infections. As I found out.
Large beach, Sand and shingle. Watch out for jelly fish.
Nice walk along the front. Bars to stop off and have a drink. Lots of flies. There's a great deal of building work taking place on the outskirts of town.
For a cheap holiday it's fine.

The resort is lovely, a variety of bars and shops and easy access to other parts of the region. Most of the hotels are on the seafront with a promenade between them and the beach so you can walk for ages in either direction with no roads and traffic.

The resort of Roquetas De Mar is still very Spanish orientated, the tourist aspect hasn't taken off there yet, although there are plenty of hotels being built in the area, this didn't affect our stay which we thoroughly enjoyed.

In the area we stayed in there were a few bars and some souvenir shops across the road from our hotel, apart from that there isn't a lot to do in the evenings, ok if you like lazing around the pool or day or going on the organised excursions through your tour operator.

We did however, hire a car for three days and this was great as we were able to get out and explore the neighbour towns and experience the countryside and mountains.

The resort is very clean, plenty of street cleaners to be seen, people very friendly, has amenities, i.e. supermarket, doctors, dentist and pharmacist.

There is a small motorised train that runs in the morning and late afternoon which for €4 per person will take you around the resort area, this is worth doing as it enables you to get some sort of bearings.

The beach is a bit disappointing as there is no sand only shingle (very harsh on bear feet!) although never seemed busy at any time.

All in all this is a nice resort and I would recommend all inclusive for a holiday here as the tourism hasn't developed and you would struggle for food, entertainment and nightlife.

Resort was clean with plenty of bars and restaurants although you had plenty of dog mess in some areas.

Beach was clean and had plenty of space and loungers etc.

Masses of building work going on in some areas, although this was normally away from the hotel areas.
