What a fantastic hotel the bitacora is,i can not reccommend it highly enough.

Food was absolutely amazing, and such a varied choice.

Rooms cleaned everday and rest of hotel spotless.
Two lovely pools, set within area of palm trees, though water bit cold, even though 1was heated.

The staff are always on hand for any queries and were extremely helpful, and took a big shine to our 18month old daughter who loved it,first time abroad and the resort/hotel brought out the best in her.

I only have a couple of slight negative points,1,as stated elsewhere, bit of a fight for sunbeds, maybe a system could be brought in where you stood a chance of getting one of the better placed beds, and 2,evening entertainment was a bit poor, but obviously there was plenty going on outside of the hotel.

Book the Bitacora, you will not be dissappointed.

The Bitacora is very well run and a very clean hotel.

The staff are excellent and cannot do enough for you.
We read the reports before booking and expected to find some sort of problem during our stay - nothing!

The hotel has an excellent location and easy access to the beach and the night life of your choice.

The hotel has won many awards over the last five years and the Awards can be viewed in the Hotel Foyer we believe they were well merited and we met people who go back to the hotel every year.

The food is really very very good and the choice great.
Chefs are also in the dining room cooking hot dishes e.g. Barbecued Pork - veal cutlets - Sole on the bone - Steaks -
Dining room staff are most attentive -friendly even although most eating is done buffet style. The range of food and quality is really excellent.

The pool areas were generally quiet - no music and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

The entertainment in the hotel was not bad but not the best we have come across.

No significant noise at night - slept well in very comfortable beds in large - very clean spacious air conditioned rooms (if required) with well equipped mini bar if needed. (No cockroaches in sight).

If our experience is the standard set by the Bitacora for everyone then we would certainly recommend this hotel at this time of year

One of our best holidays of late.

Will be back.

Stayed in the Bitacora for the first time (first time in Tenerife too) and we weren't disappointed. Its a lovely hotel. The staff were always so helpful and so friendly. They always had a smile for everyone, nothing was too much trouble, genuinely lovely people who create a wonderful atmosphere in the hotel.
The hotel is very clean and well presented. The pool and surrounding area is lovely and we didn't once encounter the 'sunbed scramble' during our stay and certainly never had trouble finding a sunbed, although I admit this may be due to the late season date of our holiday. The food was delicious but it did get a bit repetitive and I can imagine that guests staying for more than a week would end up bored and seeking local restaurants for variety. The sea is only a few minutes away and the walk to the sea is lovely.(Arent the plants in the warmer countries always so vibrantly colourful and luscious looking!!)A walk along the sea front is a must.
The entertainment was enjoyable but I think it was more geared to the older guest.
This hotel is definitely worth a visit.

We chose this hotel due to the excellent reviews on this site, and we certainly were not disappointed. The cleanliness of the hotel was the best I have ever seen, and the bedrooms were the most spacious, the reception area just sums up the hotel on your arrival and sets the scene for the rest of the hotel. There was always a wide choice of food in the restaurant with two dishes freshly cooked as you waited and a roast being carved elsewhere. There was also three choices for soup and salads, not to mention the prepared meals that included Lasagne, Paella, spaghetti, stew etc. There was also plenty to choose from for sweet with cakes, icecream, fruit or cheese and biscuits. The staff were very attentive.

The location of this hotel is excellent with a short stroll to the beach past the Vulcano, the area is certainly being well maintained, clean with lovely palm trees and grassy areas, the shops are also high quality (nice to window shop) ie Gucci, Rolex etc.

The entertainment in the evenings is good but caters more for the older clients, but that is fine you just have to go out and about and as mentioned in another review the bars past the Vulcano on the way to the beach are excellent and plenty there to keep you amused.

I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone looking for good quality accommodation in an upmarket location, and we will certainly be back.

The Hotel is without doubt one of the best I have stayed in ( 12 times in 6 years speaks for itself ). The staff are very courteous and helpful, nothing is a problem and they seem to go out of their way to make your stay as good as possible.
The rooms are large and very clean, bathroom is a good size and clean towels are provided every day, the shower gel etc is replaced when required without having to ask, balconies are a good size with a table and 3 chairs and a small clothes drier. There is a mini bar in the room which has a good selection but we preferred to buy from the local supermarket as the prices were far cheaper, but at least you had bottled water in case you ran out.
The dining room was large and cool, the staff worked very hard clearing tables and serving drinks, there were 6 of us in our party and sometimes a small wait was necessary to get a table for us but we always got one. The food was excellent, plenty of choice, a wonderful salad bar, freshly made soups, freshly grilled fish and meats and even more choice at the carousels, desserts were plentiful although I didn't sample them as I havn't got a sweet tooth, but comments from others said they were good.
The pool area does get very busy ( plenty of towels on beds but not always people on them ) but we always got 4 together wether we went after breakfast or after lunch, the poolside bar / restaurant is very good and caters I believe for all choices.
I can't comment on the entertainment as we always went out but there were always plenty of people there.
Overall the Hotel is in my opinion excellent, we will be there again in May and September and would recommend it to anyone.

We were extremely pleased with the Bitacora which is ideally located for the nightlife of Veronicas (15min stroll away), music bars, the beach front or whatever ....and you have a good nights sleep as its nice and quiet.

We took our sons aged 20, 18 and 11 and its everyone was happy.

Trips to the parks etc leave from across the road - so easy

Staff exceptionally helpful and certainly we found sending an email 3mths before arrival ensured that we had rooms on good floors and together (we had 3 rooms) - as you know these arent guaranteed by holiday companies.

Pool was spotless and cleaned in and around every night - and sunbeds are locked in stacks around the pool every night (except Sundays) and not opened until 8am - and in our experience there were always sunbeds unused (although of course not necessarily in prime positions). There was some who got up for 8am to get best positions but very often strolling down at 9am for breakfast wasnt a problem - or even much later if you werent fusy where you were. One pool has a slide - which is great.

Overall cleanliness couldnt be faulted.

Plenty of games for children and adults during day and childrens area is shaded (including ball pit and bouncy castle).

Entertainment in evenings wasnt too great although a couple of good acts. Certainly an area for improvement, and beware of those nights involving the audience (cheap entertainment at your expense - but sometimes fun).

Food was fine - plenty of it and lots of variety and in keeping with 4 star hotel and for the family generally - but gourmet not. Queues do develop but not a problem.

Rooms are spacious and suit most people. We had our youngest on the bed settee which was fine. Air conditioning was very good.

Tips - If you have a superior room (pool facing) you get free safe, pool towels and bathrobes to use. Choose a floor on level 4 and above (there are 8 in total). We were on floor 6 and faced the sea. This was very good. Also suggest you get the Spring Hotel Card (Bitacora and Vulcano Hotel are in that chain) - this gets you 10% of your drinks and and extras bills at the end, and also 10% off future direct bookings.

Lastly hotel was being renovated next door but it didnt bother anyone at all - and Im extremely fussy.

Overall would return again without doubt

The main reason we went to the Bitacora was because of the good reports we had read on this site and we were not disappointed.

Every area of the hotel was very clean and our room was one of the largest we had ever stayed in. It was well worth paying the extra for a pool view, as some of the rooms overlooked the derelict parrot park. The pool area was thoroughly washed and cleaned every evening. The sunbeds were stacked and chained up and not released until about 8.30am the following day, which was a good idea as it gave everyone a fair chance to get a good spot, although there was always plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas throughout the day.

The pool area was well laid out with flowers, waterfall, fountains, etc. There was a small pool for children and an adjoining pool with a slide where the daily activities took place, such as arobics, etc, leaving the main pool free for a nice relaxing swim, which we thought was a good idea. The pool bar was very clean and staff were friendly and food very good.

The food in the main restaurant was absolutely delicious, there was plenty of selection and we didn't find it at all repetative, infact we both now need to go on a diet. The restaurant itself was clean with a pleasant and unhurried atmosphere. Even when people came to dinner late, you didn't get the clattering and banging of plates and dirty looks like you do in some hotels, the waiters were always very polite and accommodating. On some mornings there was even free champagne with breakfast, if wanted you helped yourself from the bottles left in ice near the tea and coffee machines.

One small criticism would have to be the evening entertainment, there was a show most evenings, acrobats, dancers, etc, which started at 10pm and lasted approx 45mins and were reasonably good. Once it had finished, although there was a chap playing a keyboard and singing and the bar remained open, the majority of people disappeared and you felt as though the evening was winding down, which was such a shame.

The daytime activities were good and its a shame that the hotel doesn't put a little more effort into the evening entertainment, the hotel would benefit by people spending more money there rather than the bars around town, which we and alot of other people seemed to do.

There is some excellent bars around with plenty of entertainment, try the strip of bars down the side of the hotel Vulcano. We saw some good acts at the Corner bar and the compare was really funny. If your feeling brave you can always take the Rolf Harris challenge and possibly win a CD. If you like Billy Connelly go there on a Sunday evening, the man who took him off was brilliant. You could always try Buda's bar next to the Tenerife Princess hotel, there is a couple who sing and play good music.

We would recommend taking the excursion to mount Teide, we went on the half day trip and it was worth every penny. To take the cable car which almost reaches the sumit of the highest mountain in Spain, was an additional 20 euros per person and well worth the cost. The view from up there, (11.660 feet) above the clouds and over the volcanic craters was fantastic. If you were feeling extremely fit you could always walk a further 535 feet up the rough pathway to the very peak. If you go on this trip, whatever you do, don't forget your camera.

To sum up we had a really good holiday and would highly recommend this hotel and one more thing, its well worth applying for the Spring Card, its free and you get a 10% reduction from your extra's bill, (food and drink) and a discount from some of the local shops. Reception will give you a form when you arrive.

We nearly forgot to mention that the hotel behind the Bitacora is being refurbished, it did not interfere with our holiday at all, there was no noise, etc, went largely unnoticed behind a high wall and it appeared the work would soon be finished.
