Everything is just fantastic about this hotel. This was our second time in a row and will Definitely be back next year.
1.It is cleaned from top to bottom everyday and the rooms are bigger than most hotels that we have stayed in.
2.The food is yummy and you will always find something that you like (you will put on weight because you just have to try everthing)
3. Location-Everything you need is all around, plenty of shops and not far from the beach, try the strip or bars down by the side of the Vulcano, the Soul Suite and the Hole In The Wall have great entertainment every night. 4.Hotel Staff-Very friendly and always smiling would bend backwards to please you.
5. Well we didn't stay in for the enterainment but my daughter and her friends stayed in and enjoyed it..
6. I just didn't want to leave can't wait till' next year...

This hotel is in a very nice up market part of PDLA. It is close to the beach and to the shopping centres. The hotel itself is an absolute jewel. It is extremely clean and well maintained and seems to be cleaned constantly. The staff will bend over backwards to accomodate every request. On arrival we were on the first floor and didnt have a very good view of the pool. On asking to be moved it was done straight away without any complaint.
The food is of a very high quality with plenty of selection and variety. On a particular note, the steaks are excellent and so are the wonderful gateaux.
The only criticism I would have is that the childrens section is limited so if your children are fussy eaters this has to be taken into account.
Breakfasts are also of a high quality consisting of cereals, toast, cold meats, omlettes, muffins, cakes and cooked breakfast. This list is endless. I did not try the sausages and have to agree that they did not look nice, but that is only a minor thing and not worth bothering about.

The entertainment was ok. Some of it wasnt to my taste but they are catering for a wide age range so you cant please everyone. On a special note the entertainment staff were great. They were really friendly and had a "hello" and a wave for everyone.
The daytime activities were well organised with many activites ranging from water polo and archery to a demo on cooking pealla with free samples to all.

There is the early morning sunbed snatchers but I think this is silly. The are enough beds and umbrellas for all.

There is so much to say about this hotel I would be here all day. If you are lucky enough to go there I envy you. It is a stunning hotel and I would go back there in an instant and I am a really fussy person to please!!!!

I stayed in the Hotel Bitacora for two weeks half board, and it was the best hotel i have ever stayed in on a package holiday - so good we are even booking to go there later in the year again!

The Bitacora has everything i could possibly wish for in a hotel, it was very clean, the staff are amazing even down to remembering where we liked to sit in the resturant when they were showing us to our table. The food was extremely good we have stayed in a lot of Half Board/All Inclusive hotels before and the choice and quality of the food far exceded any of these - there was even Champagne at breakfast every few days!!!

The location of the hotel is a massive selling point, it is in the nicest area of Playa de Las Americas, near to a sandy beach, there are numerous really nice shopping centres and bars in close proximitiy to the hotel, but the main commercial area (Veronicas etc) is only about 10 mins walk away if you fancy a more lively evening.

We went out most evenings and so never really saw much of the evening entertainment, however we spent most of our days round the pool area and there were plenty of activites going on all day for children and adults alike.

Many people have mentioned that there were a lot of older people staying in hotel, but me and my partner are both in our mid twentys and i didn't feel out of place at all, there were still plenty of young couples and families.

I would recomend this hotel to anyone, young or old! And i can't wait to return

We stayed for 2 weeks (7th - 21st May 2004) at the Bitacora. The location was ok - we were within easy walking distance from both Playa de las Americas & Los Cristianos centres.

The hotel was indeed very clean - from the impressive marble & glass lobby, to the actual rooms. The rooms were quite impressive - very spacious, and the balcony (which was quite important to us as we liked to end the evenings on there) was quite roomy too, with a nice view of La Gomera, and (when the clouds subsided!) Mount Tiede. We could also see most of Playa de las Americas. The only 'downside' was the lovely view of a now-defunt bar-cum-parrot park, which was not too attrctive! Also in the evenings we got to hear the 'musical ramblings' from the nearby Patch bar & entertainment strip. At times this was quite loud - and really in all fairness, out of the hotel's hands.

The staff were friendly and helpful (though we didn;t really spend enough time at the hotel to need much help), but sometimes it was quite difficult to be served in the restaurant when it got busy. There was one man there who seemed to bt the entertainment specialist, and he was also doubling up as greeter for the restaurant! He was a very busy man.

The entertainment was a bit cheesy, so in the end, we went elsewhere! At 8.30pm, every night there was a mini disco for the kids - only for half an hour, and then they stuck on 'Finding Nemo' for them to watch. We played pool in the games room, adjacent to the entertainment room. This has 3 pool tables (all seemed to have some form of slant LOL - costs 1 Euro per game)a driving game, and one of those air table tennis tables (not fully working!).

As for the pool area? I didn't go to that part at all as we spent most of our time travelling around the island and exploring the resort. What I did see though was that overlooking the area was the hotel Siesta which was being demolished, so I can't imagine it was too relaxing there with the sounds and sights of demolition work in the background. Again - not the fault of the Bitacora.

The food in the buffet style restaurant was on the whole very good, though at times a bit repetitive, and sometimes the lables on the display didn't match what was on offer! When I asked one member of staff what what looked liked vegetable in pastry was, as the label above indicated fish, he shrugged his shoulders and said my guess was as good as his! I was a bit disappointed there was little Canarian style food....and I must say I've never eaten so much steak in my life! I must say though, I enjoyed both the omlettes & scrambled eggs, though previous reports about the sausages were correct! They were definitely boiled! The drinks were a bit pricey, so we limited ourselves to 1 each (2 Euros for a coke!) - and brought in our own drinks from nearby stores such as Spanish Style (1.35 Euro for a 1 litre bottle of San Miguel for example).

Would we visit this hotel again? Well, it's a lovely hotel, but the clientelle were a lot older than expected (average age of guest around 60 years old!), and as they all chose to dress up a lot for the evening meals, I felt a little under pressure to do the same. I would have been comfy in my casual clothes, but instead felt I couldn't relax because of this. I think I would stay again if I could be self catering, as I felt a bit tied to the meal times, and dress codes. If you are an older couple or, indeed a family party, then this is a good place to stay.

Have just returned from Hotel Bitacora, Tenerife and I here is our review.

We arrived at the hotel about 7pm and our first impressions were very good. Hotel lobby was large with a large amount of comfy settees to relax in and the place was exceptionally clean. Hotel reception staff were very efficient and the booking in procedure was done very quickly. Our room was on the 7th floor so we needed to use the lift which was no problem. The room has a swipe card key system which you then put into a slot for the electric lights etc to work. Our room was lovely, very clean, large with two beds pushed together and a bed-settee, the bathroom was large with a good supply of towels, toiletries etc.

Because of the late arrival we did not unpack straight away, we went to explore the hotel and get something to eat and drink.

The evening meal was very good, infact the evening meal was excellent throughout our 1 week stay.

The breakfasts were not as good in our opinion. There was a good variety of food, e.g. cereals, bread for toast etc, fruit, omelette's cooked fresh, but the scrambled eggs were very often runny, the bacon was streaky and swimming in grease and the sausages look as though they had been boiled rather than fryed and look a washed out - not cooked colour. After saying all that, we still had enough to eat at breakfast that was very nice and we did not need anything to eat during the day, it was just that it was not "as good" as the evening meal, which was excellent.

You cannot fault the hotel staff, from the reception staff to the waiters who were always happy and ready to help you. The hotel itself was spotless.

The hotel was only 56% full, so there was always somewhere to sit and watch the entertainment at night. To be honest we did not stay in the hotel much at night, for two reasons.

1) The prices of the drinks at the hotel were very expensive. The service you got from the waiters was excellent, very professional, but a pint of local beer and a Malibu and lemonade was 8 Euros and 80 cents, very expensive. The measure of the Malibu was only 1 and a half pub measure at the most.

2) The entertainment at the hotel was not to our taste, the first night was an Acrobatic act which was ok but after half an hour it finished and that was it. We did not look often at the board for the other nights, but noticed one night was a fashion show!!

After a couple of nights we went out and we found a row of bars which have been mentioned on this site before and had a drink at one for the rest of our holiday, that was the Soul Suite by the side of the Vulcano only a five minute walk. Excellent evenings, well worth a visit.

The weather in Tenerife was very disappointing, with a lot of cloud, some rain and some sunshine. We therefore did not sit around the pool very often, but when we did it was very pleasant with plenty of sunbeds, but remember the hotel was only 56% full.

We went for a walk everyday either into Los Cristianos or Las Americas, we preferred Los Cristianos. The Time Share - Scratch Card people were a pain, but we just said no thankyou and kept saying no thankyou and then ignored them and they soon got bored with us.

During the day there was plenty of bars selling a pint of local lager for 1 Euro and plenty of bars selling food. One day we got up too late for breakfast and had a lovely breakfast on the promonade for under 2 Euros with unlimited tea / coffee for 1 Euro.

In conclusion, we had a lovely weeks break, we would go back to the Hotel Bitacora again, it was very clean, in a nice area and well worth the four stars.

If anyone wants to know anymore information, we will be happy to help.

We go to Hotel bitacora twice every year and have done for the past 6 years.

It is a large, clean hotel with friendly staff who cannot do too much for you to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Over the past couple of years the restaurant has been made bigger, the pool bar has ben made a lot bigger and the cafe bar has doubled at least twice the size.

There isn't a bad thing about Bitacora, it's suitable for families and is only a short walk from both playa de las americas beaches and los christianos.

We have just returned from the Bitacora Hotel and have had a fantastic time. Four of us were celebrating a 30th birthday and although the majority of the hotel was occupied by people that were older than us or families this did not bother us one bit. The food was fantastic as I found out when I went back to Weight Watchers and had gained 7lbs in a week and the hotel was absolutely faultless. We tried to find something wrong with this hotel but was unable to do so. We enjoyed it that much that we are now in the process of booking again for the same time next year (October). I would strongly reccomend this hotel.

We got back from Tenerife yesterday morning. What a FAB hotel!!!

Having read all the previous reviews I had quite a high standard in my mind and we weren't disappointed at all.

We arrived late at night (around 1am) and had a quick look around this impressive hotel before crashing. Our room was a fair size, which comprised a large wardrobe, twin beds (pushed together), a sofa (which folds out to be a double bed) an armchair, TV, air conditioning, a safe, a mini bar/fridge, ensuite bathroom and patio doors leading to a balcony. The room was very clean and tidy as was the rest of the hotel.

At breakfast you can have freshly made omelettes with your choice of filling, there are also cereals, fruit, yoghurts, meats and cooked breakfast all self-service. The breakfast was so filling it would last us up until the evening meal.

We thought the choice of evening meal was very good and also very filling with a variety of vegetarian, meat & fish dishes as well a nice desserts! I couldn't even have a drink after because I was so full. Really yummy and fresh food.

You could have one meal at the sister hotel across the road called The Vulcano so we went over one evening. We found their restaurant a little old fashioned and there definitely wasn't as good a selection of food.

The weather was perfect for sitting by the lovely clean pool. The slide was great fun too!!

The drinks were 2 Euro for a Sprite/Coke and 2 Euro 60 cents for a beer. (If you pop over the road to Spanish Style you can get a can of Pepsi for 60 cents and Beer for 75 cents - good for keeping in your room).

There was a mini bar which had a key and you can store minimum cold items in there. They do come and check it every morning which could be a little annoying when you have someone banging on your door.

We didn

What else can one say I went in October 2002 for 2 weeks 1/2 board I never once saw anyone complain the whole time there was nothing to complain about.

I went along with 2 young children 7 & 8 years old they had a superb time with the kids entertainment.

The best thing about it was there were people of all ages and nationalities all getting along great together.

For a good night out I would recommend Los Angeles Bar a short walk from the hotel great entertainment kids welcome.

We met people there who had been going there every year for some time and stating for months at a time.

Small bar to the left as you come out the front door very clean and surprisingly quiet. Good pool table and very freindly owner. Probably the best coffee in Tenerife.

I am actually on line looking to book the same hotel for later on in the year.

Enjoy it David Gilroy.

We stayed at this hotel in August 2002 and travelled with Unijet.

This hotel is outstanding there is absolutely nothing I can fault. The rooms are huge we requested a double bed which we got, which seemed to give more room, not that you needed it, the bathroom was right near the bed, handy for those middle-of-the-night dashes.

There was a very comfortable sofa which can be used as a bed, I don't know how comfy it is when used as a bed as there was only 2 of us so we didn't require it, the air conditioning was very powerful but, you can leave it overnight if you wish as it doesn't blow over you as it blows towards the sofa area so leaves the room nice and cool for those hot, sultry nights.

The food was the best part of this hotel, the breakfasts were probably the standard of most 4 star hotel's maybe a bit more, but the evening meals were gorgeous top class food! We sometimes eat out a couple of times when we go on holiday but, we didn't not once here because the food was so good. The cost of the holiday was worth it for the food alone!!

The pool area was lovely and the pool bar serves gorgeous lunch-time snacks and also our fave ice-slush drinks, perfect in the heat of the day!!

I would definitely go back here.
