The hotel is very clean and tidy , the rooms are cleaned daily by the maids and we had our towels changed daily. Room was a bit small for 2 adults and 2 kids though.

The food at breakfast was a strange mix of eggs boiled and fried bacon, sausages, bread and lots of fruit and cereal although I saw no one eat spaghetti for breakfast.

The location was very good with shops and the beach close by and a few bars and restuarants.

Hotel staff were friendlyish when spoken to but seemed to eye you with suspicion when not engaged in conversation.

Entertainment was non existent aside from a cd player by the pool playing explicit lyric songs while you swam and sunbathed.

We will not visit this hotel again.

We booked with Balkan to the Korona who subsequently changed our flight times a total of 4 times, 3 times during our stay in the hotel.

The Flights:

The Tu 154M can be likened to the ford Sierra, functional. The inside was painted in white emulsion and the overhead luggage carriers banged and shook like an outhouse door in a force 10 on take off and landing and for most of the flight, however the main problem on the planes was the seating. Fine if you are around 5ft 7 or shorter but if like me you are 6ft 2 or maybe taller then its very uncomfortable, not to mention the seats had a habit of self reclining when you did not want them to.

The inflight meal consisted of a stale roll, some manky butter, a small container of water, some cheese and ham and a chocolate bar. Thank god we had a McDonalds at gatwick before boarding. Other than that the filght was fine and actually very quick ( 2hrs 30 mins on return).

The Transfer :

Now this was amusing, incident free until the coach reversed to let one of the mini trains go through and hit car behind. Bulgarian road rage ensued...quality.

The Hotel :

Very impressive on entry until the check in desk (don't think the receptionist's face would crack if she smiled but obviously she was taking no chances) The porter was rather surly too.

Arrived in the room and though ok its a shoe box for 2 adults and 2 kids but very clean and equipped. After staying at the Rui Everika last year if felt very small.

Air con was on but I am sure there was a Bulgarian with a glacier mint inside it blowing the air out as it was not very good. I must mention the lifts, oh god the lifts. Simplely DO NOT use them unless you really have to. People were getting stuck in them at regular intervals including ourselves, but they don't stop when they are stuck sometimes, oh no, they go up and down at an a alarming pace like a nutter so beware.

A big point to note is that invariably they try and charge you for something when you check out, this can range from towels to ashtrays to tv remote control so stand your ground as they back down eventually. The restuarant was clean too and food ok for breakfast, although the manager would look more at home in jack boots and looks as if you lost your card to eat that he would drag you in front of a firing squad, after a few days we affectionalty referred to him as " Adolf" .

The pool was not huge and most of the time quite cold as the sun does not hit it until mid to late morning. Also be aware that half the sunbeds only get about half a day actually in the sun, those closer to the pool bar are best for sun. Pool was cleaned every day so was very clean all the time.

The Beach:

The beach is accesible by walking from the front door of the hotel down past the hotel Burgas. It is very clean and the sand hot as you would expect.

We went down near the water to paddle our feet and were told by a older man and a couple of burly lifeguards that if we wanted to do this we would have to rent a parasol or some sunbeds, parasol 6 leva, sunbed 12 leva. After saying we didn't want them he said I am sorry then you will have to leave the beach area, again stand your ground they do not own the beach only the parasols and loungers. We only visited the beach 3 times and one was at 2 am, strangely it was very quiet then.

Money :

We only used the ATM at the Hotel Pomorie during our stay which was always working so we had no problems there. Charged

We stayed in Hotel Korona, Sunny Beach

There were 13 of us and we were all placed next door to each other. When we arrived the first thing I noticed was how bright the hotel was. It's a relatively new building, and it was kept clean, and the cleaning staff were constanstly working.

Breakfast was an experience. It was self serving, and was laid out like a huge buffet. They had everything on there, including, cereal, toast, cooked breakfast, fresh fruit and even cakes! The cooked breakfast was a little too greasy for my liking, but I enjoyed the fresh fruit (watermelon) and toast. There was also a choice of fruit squash, orange or forest fruits. The small crossants with the chocolate filling also went down well.

The hotel was in an ideal location for us, as we had a 6yr old and a 10 year old with us. We were in a quiter area of Sunny Beach where we could enjoy a quite meal and a drink, but we also had the choice to travel into the city centre for something more lively. There's a train you can get from just outside the hotel for about 50p per adult, and about 20p for children aged 3-7. The hotel bar is also open 24hr.
They had a few medical professionals at the hotel, including a dentist and a paediatrician.

The hotel staff on reception, I found to be somewhat unapproachable. They seemed more interested in talking to each other than finding out why you're standing there trying to get their attention. However the domestic staff seemed nice, and though they couldn't speak english, they were still polite and smiled, which gave a friendlier atmosphere.

The one thing I would mention that I found disappointing, was the lack of thought that went into the arrangement of the dissabled rooms. The only thing that was different, was wider doors. My friend is in a wheelchair, and we had some job getting her in and out of the bathroom because of the step, and the toilet was not any help to her. The towel rail was too high up so, she was constantly needing help to do the simplest thing.

As for entertainment, well, I didn't see any, I didn't hear of any. But that wasnt a problem as far as I'm concerned.

We visited Bulgaria for the first time and stayed in the Korona On arriving we found it very clean and in a good location.

The staff were friendly and the rooms were bright and large enough for 2 people.

We enjoyed our holiday so much we are returning to the Korona again this year.

we stayed at the hotel korona b+b, the breakfast wasn't great but you couldn't go wrong with ceareals and coffee. the hotel was absolutley spotless, and when we arrived the cases even got brought up to the room for us. the staff were helpful but there is no entertainment at all. we liked the location about 15min walk to the centre but plenty going on where we were.brothers house is a must for the sizzler! didn't have any bad meals out apart from the fat cat (kids chicken was raw). bulgaria is really as cheap as everyone says. i would visit this hotel again maybe next year. if you enjoy a g+t for 60p you will love bulgaria!

We stayed B+B. The breakfast was an odd mixture which attemped to suit all nationalities. As well as the usual continental, eggs and bacon there was various salads, spaghetti. raw fish and cream cakes!! But every thing was fresh and plentifull and the kids thought choclate eclairs at 8:30 am were fantastic!!
Location was ideal not to noisy but close to everything you need. (beach 2 mins, small supermarket next door.) It is good 15 min walk to the main centre, but a mini train gets you there for fifty pence and stops round the side of the hotel every 20mins or so.
reception staff efficient but 'reserved', but the maids are fantastic they are very friendly (especially love the kids) and try to speak english and clean the rooms spotlessly every day. No entertainment still but plenty in the local bars and restaurants.

stayed for a fortnight at this hotel and would definately stay there again. Basic but pleasant and clean accommodation. 2 mins from beach, about a 20min walk from centre of resort, but with plenty of shops and restaurants close to hotel. Great pool, helpful staff, Only down side was lack of atmosphere at the hotel, maybe when they get an evening entertainment programme, guests will mingle better! on the whole a great holiday and gret hotel.

we stayed in hotel korona last year when it was just opened and not quite finished, but it was lovely spotlessly clean and rooms large and comfortable. we only had breakfast but that was good and plenty of it. staff were helpful but not over friendly. we enjoyed ourselves as it was near to all amenities. we are going back to the same hotel this year and our only complaint was lack of entertainment but as we are senior citizens it wasnt a problem, and we ate out every night and enjoyed entertainment and floor shows near by
