The hotel is very basic.
Do not arrive and expect luxury as you will be very disappointed. The accommodation was clean and I found the staff very friendly.
Our room had a fridge, ceiling fan, shower, WC & sink. The accommodation is very basic, but what else do you need? Remember you are in a 3rd world country.

Dismayed with previous previews of this hotel. First impressions are not good from outside, - sign is broken! Once inside hotel - its a peaceful haven with fantastic swimming pool.
Small hotel ,so its got a very communal atmosphere. Hotel is very clean. Hotel food is fantastic- if its not on the menu ask!!. Hotel staff will bend over backwards to accomodate you!.
Location is excellent, just a small walk to the beach, internet access just outside hotel, shops just outside hotel, taxis outside hotel, elephants, cows and dogs just outside hotel , sometimes inside hotel!
Entertainment is the pool and chatting to the other guests around the pool. Loved the place as everyone else in hotel didWithout hesitation I will return to the hotel-location,pool,staff and food are excellent

First impressions of the hotel were very off putting as it seemed dirty from the outside, even though we did arrive during the night!However, when we went inside the hotel staff were very friendly and were so through out the whole of the stay, as you get to talk to them.
Once inside, the hotel looked more promising, as the garden was kept clean!!The rooms were okay and basic, though we only ever used them to shower, change and sleep and the staff did clean the rooms everyday!!
As we went during the beginning of the season, there wasn't that much of entertainment less you went outside, though people made friends very quickly and the pool was a source of entertainment. (The pool too was cleaned everyday in the morning)
The hotel food was okay and only ever had dinner there twice and breakfast was basic just tea and toast-but it was good!!There are many other great places to eat!!
The location of the hotel is brillant!!Only a few minutes walk away from the beach or you could catch a taxi for a rupees!!There are many shops right next door for bags, basic needs, food and drink and internet access!!

When my partner and I arrived we were put in a back room, we had booked a poolside view. First impressions were not good, and when I complained and got my poolside room I saw the hotel differently.

Hotel cleanliness was diabolical, dirty used bed linen, stained towels, cob webs on walls, dead mossies on windows decayed insects on window sills.
Hotel food basic with the added insect in the jam and on the toast, even had breakfast in rain in non monsoon season.
Location is not bad but out on the outskirts of Calangute nicer further towards Baga

I stayed at this hotel in Jan 05, Before I went I saw lots of reports on this hotel well when I got there the place is a **** tip.
The sheets are dirty, the place needs a good clean the staff rubbish, I am a single lad and only wanted a clean bed to sleep in I did not want much more I dont want to moan on regarding this hotel but I would think long and hard before booking this hotel its so basic. Nothing in the rooms, you have too pay for everything there.
The holiday was fab, people great but the **** tip of a hotel, please please think long and hard before you book. You have been warned look at the other reports on this hotel it does not have much to offer apart from dirt and mess everywhere.
Please be careful if you do go,, good luck if you do go!

The hotel is in a nice area just away from the main Calangute area on the way to Candolim. You are able to walk to the beach easily.
The hotel was in 3 blocks. Two were situated by the pool one was just away from the main pool area.
Our group had two rooms booked these were in the same block. When we checked in the staff were not very friendly. Our sheets and towels were filthy. Our plug socket in our room did not work and the plug socket / light switch in the bathroom was hanging off the wall with live wires showing.
Every time we took a shower it would trip the electric in one of our rooms we were told this was because of a faulty water heater and it was dismissed by the staff.
The other room we had the door would not lock properly. We complained to the management about these faults, nothing was done about them. We complained to the holiday rep who was brilliant and spent a lot of time making sure that everything was put right, although after that the staff were even more unwelcoming towards us.

Myself and my family stayed at the Tio in November of 2004.
It was my husband and sons 1st time and the second for myself so i knew that the standard of accomadation is not like it is in europe. The Tio is in an excellent location in Calangute,close to the beach and away from the hustle and bustle of Calangute centre.
The rooms were basic and clean but we don't go to Goa to stay in our hotel room and only use it for sleep and a wash and change. The hotel staff were friendly and the cleaning staff lent my son their frizzby for the duration of our holiday.
I will admit the breakfast that is included is very basic but ok for just a quick bite 1st thing in a morning. We never had any problems getting served at the bar or getting a sunbed.
The reception staff were always pleasant and lent us some candles when we arrived as the electric had gone out.
We would definately stay there again.

Resort Tio De Carmino is in a good location away from all the hustle & bustle of the market end of Calangute. You can actually walk out of the hotel and on to the main street without any hastle from beggars.
The waiters, Tony and Robinson are good to have a chat with at the bar. The cleaners always model something out of your towels and clothes, and display it on your bed for when you return from your travels. One day it may be a crab, then a snake etc Beware! you may even find a man on your bed!
The rooms are very basic and the beds are quite hard and take some getting used to, but hey! this is Goa and once you settle in, the place grows on you. I would stay here again.......if there are any vacancies.
