We went to the Venus with my parents who had been there before. We had a fantastic holiday.

Loved the hotel, food did seem very repetative but good. We were lucky our daughter who was only 9 loves all meat so she helped herself.

The pool area was spotless and so were the bars.

All the staff were very friendly. Will go back again.

Hotel Venus - Got Kids? Read on.....

We are a family of 4 - Husband & Wife and 2 kids aged 8 & 3.

Arriving at the Hotel at 11am we were advised to wait for our room until 1pm as it wasn't ready - I kind of expected this as it had happened at other hotels on early arrival.

We sat in the air conditioned bar and waited. The reception staff were friendly enough and had our room ready by 12pm an hour early.

I had phoned direct Holidays 5 days prior to departure and asked for a high floor (As I had read a report about ants on the lower floors) and also for a room in the residencia part of the Hotel. (The Hotel is made of two Blocks the Venus and the Residencia Venus - The residencia being the newer more modern Block) We were granted our request and got room 6007 on the 6th Floor out of 8 in the residencia Building and an unexpected Bonus - We had a pool view.

The room Had 4 beds in and was a little cramped but not as bad as expected after reading other reports.

However I did speak to a family of 3 from the older half of the Building and they had to climb over the 3rd bed to enter the room.

Our Bathroom also had a Bidet and was a good size - Again the older half had no Bidet and was smaller.

Balcony has a Table and 2 Chairs on it.

Air Conditioning was Great as we had the Sun on our Room from 3pm onwards.

The Pool
Was great for Kids and Adults - The Kids end was Shallow and separated by a metal rail from the main pool so no worries of the younger kids getting in to deep - There was also a play area next to the kids end.

No problems getting sunbeds there were always some available right through the day.

Kids and adult games were played throughout the day if you wanted to join in - Killer pool - Darts - Table tennis etc - very well organised. Also Bingo at 5pm.

Restaurant.
A slight Downside if you Have Kids.
There is no Kids Menu Whatsoever.
Breakfast is Fine - Full English inc Chips - Fruit - Cold Meats - Rice Crispies - Sugar Puffs - Corn Flakes etc - Milk is Fine and Fresh Juice is supplied also 10/10
Lunch is ok - Soup Bread Potatoes Veal Omlette Runner Beans - All the Salad you can eat (Salad was Plentiful)
Dinner is much the same as Lunch but little for Kids. A typical choice is...as you came to it - Veal - Battered Hake(Fish) - Boiled Potatoes - Peas/Carrots - Pasta - Pork on a Skewer(Kebab) - Ham & Cheese Bake in Breadcrumbs - Omlette and Pizza.
Luckily my kids got a liking for Fish Omlette and Pasta otherwise we would have been snookered - we only got chips for dinner once in 2 weeks.
Dessets are superb - Ice Cream machine - cakes - bread and butter pud - Profiteroles - Jelly - Custard etc etc.
All food was Buffet style and you could help yourself to as much as you want.

The food in my opinion is fine for the More Mature adult but me at 36 prefers spicy foods Mexican etc as an option over and above the carrots and potatoes and meat.
Dont get me wrong The food was cooked well and I came home half a stone heavier but the choice could have been more.

Rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels every day - beds were changed twice in the 2 weeks.

All staff were excellent - no problems.

The Location of the Hotel was great too - 5 minute walk to the Beach - 1 Minute walk to the shops - There is nightlife across the road but the main nightlife is 50 yards round the corner and you dont hear it.

The Entertainment in the Hotel got better as the week went on and a new stage area and lighting rig was being erected as we left - The Music in the Hotel was Loud at night and did not finish until 12.30am.

All in all a nice Hotel with Good Food, Good staff and Clean rooms - BUT with no Kids Menu I would not go Back.
For Couples and Mature Adults with no kids it's Great.
I have posted a few Photos on The Holiday Truths Photo Gallery.

Just returned from the Venus. We thoroughly enjoyed or 2 week stay. We were located in the Residencia part of the hotel on the 2nd floor, pool view. The room was spotless, the furniture was new and plenty of storage (even coat hangers supplied by hotel). Towels changed whenever you wanted you just had to put them in your bath to be replaced. A rubber mat in the bath too.

Restaurant = Food was plentiful, but not always piping hot. Selection of salads, desserts and fruit was excellent. Downfall is the choice for children, if your child is a fussy eater I would not recommend this hotel. As mentioned in the previous report the selections are more for the mature.
The waiters were really friendly and always having a joke with the kids.

The pool area was alway clean. Plenty of sunbeds but you have to be careful where you sit as the trees surrounding the pool do create a lot of shade. With the fruits of the tree falling off when you least expect it.

Entertainment was typical of any hotel abroad with Bingo, spanish dancers etc.

Fernando was excellent he kept the kids entertained most of the day and night.

But there is plenty of shows to see outside of the hotel.

Some to see are Matthew and Son, Pete Loaf, Bobby Diamond, Martin Kent all very good.

I would definately stay and recommend this hotel.

When we arrived here there was a slight hiccup with some suitcases that were offloaded with us by accident, we sorted it out and the rep agreed to let us leave them in our hotel reception for collection by her later. However our hotel reception staff were less than fluent in English and didn't understand what we were explaining and seemed uninterested when they realised the suitcases weren't for paying guests at their hotel but agreed to store them until pick up by our rep later that day.

Once into our room on the second floor, we quickly ralised the shortage of space in our room as we had 3 beds crammed in and were expected to fit a travel cot in too. I ended up asking them to take a bed away and the eldest 2 children to share one of the beds to make more room which was still then quite scarce. The decor was very poor, wood chip walls, and not very homely but we made do.

We then had a problem with ants in our room later that week upon return to our room one night. When we went to reception we were told we could swap rooms or they could give us an ant spray until the morning when the cleaners would sort out the problem more thoroughly and change the bedding etc for us. I was dismayed the next morning when the maid came to our room and metioned the problem we had had the night before with ants and quickly blamed the 3 pieces of fruit by the TV for attracting the ants! I had never heard such rubbish, the ants were at the other end of the room and in the beds not near the TV or fruit. If that was the case and ants are attracted by their fruit, I'd hate to have inspected the kitchen there in the restaurant.

Apart from the poor room decor and the ant problem and space in our room the rest was fine and the food was 5 star excellent, i would go as far as to say it was out of this world' and by far the best asset to the hotel.

The restaurant staff were excellent and very willing to help, they loved the kids and gave them a lot of attention at meal times. The variety of food and service was first class we never had a single complaint or bad meal there at all. Only comment I would make is, you do have to buy all of your drinks with your meals apart from breakfast. A 200ml bottle or small glass of fizzy pop, (probably 2 mouthfulls) was

We have visited the hotel Venus on 5 occasions now. It is a great hotel and still is.

The only fault we had this time was it does seem to be catering more towards the Spanish. The menu was made up of lots veal and omelette's. Ok if if you like to eat them regularly. The food we did have was very good.

The entertainment even thought we didn't see much of it was all spoken in Spanish. Even so it wouldn't put me off going again as the hotel its self, and the friendliness of the staff more than made up for the negatives

We stayed in the Hotel Venus in June 2006. There was 4 adults and 2 children in our party.

The hotel was lovely were the reception area is and the rooms was cleaned every day. I didn't rate the food which was provided as we had children with us and they really didnt like the food e.g roast rabbit.

As for entertainment there was someone singing at night near the pool area but she only sang in Spanish which wasn't really fair and she was there till 12 midnight.

If I was to go back to Benidorm I wouldn't stay in this hotel. Only reason is food and entertainment reasons. I must admit during the day the 2 guys was great with the kids playing games .

Me and My Partner both aged 19 at the time were put in the Venus after a mix up with our booking we were meant to be staying in the Calypso hotel.

On arriving at the hotel we found it nice our room was located on a high floor with a pool view the furnishing inside the room was lovely with a nice sized balcony.

The pool area was clean and tidy many umbrellas went flying into the pool due to wind but thats the weathers fault not the hotels .

The food was ok seemed to be full of veal everynight do not think it would at all cater well for children apart from the ice cream machine with hundreds and thousand dips lol overall I wouldn't rate the food very well.

The location of the hotel itself was good round the corner from Bahamas etc with a few bars right outside the hotel but far enough to get a good nights sleep on the pool side view anway.

Overall hotel was nice but its the resort which I wasn't to keen on overall

We have just returned from the Venus Hotel in Benidorm.

A really nice decor greeted you and we found this hotel really clean and spacious. There were plenty of sun beds around the pool but sun parasols were very scarce, but very much needed.

The restaurant although quite busy at times offered a really good choice of food, so be prepared to come back a few pounds heavier, especially if full board. The waiters were very good, and all the staff worked very hard to keep tables cleared. The rooms were kept nice and clean.

The hotel was situated in a very good location near to the beach and numerous bars with some really good entertainment.

Also if you dont like high rise accomodation this one is not too high.

What a great hotel. We stayed here for 1 week from 13th of May we had a lovely time.

The food was the best we have had than any other hotel we have stayed at. The sweet trolley was a bit disappointing (too much the same everyday)

Entertainment was ok but nothing to rave about but Benidorm has so much entertainment that was no problem.

Thank you Venus for a lovely holiday we will definitely be back in the future

We stayed here for a week on full board. Put on half a stone with all the great food we munched through.

Helpful and friendly staff, although the head receptionist can have off days. Seemed miffed when I extended my stay and got it cheaper by booking through internet. Made me jump through hoops before giving me the room, but I got it in the end.

Can't really find anything to complain about this hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

If you bring a car, parking can be difficult sometimes but I always got one eventually. There is a hotel car park but you pay extra for this.

Price of drinks at the bar are not high and the quality is good unlike some other establishments.
