Have just returned from 2 weeks at the Phaethon Beach Hotel. There were 15 in our party including 7 teenagers.

We chose this particular hotel with the youngsters in mind because of the water sports and various activities available to them on the all inclusive price. We were not disappointed, the 5 boys were kept occupied all day with canoing, pedloes, football and various others organised activities. Daytime entertainment could not be faulted and the animation team worked really hard. However, the evening entertainment left a lot to be desired. The brochure stated that there was a 'nightclub' in the Hotel. This would have been ideal for our two 17 old girls, because we would not allow them to go into town on their own. But, the function room also doubled up as the 'nightclub' and when going down there at 11pm there were still young children running around. I believe that this time should be adults only as the children had the function room from 7pm onwards. Where was the adult entertainment?

The food in the Hotel was excellent. what a choice! There was a great deal of variety in the outside snack area, and the self service beer tap was great! The restaurant was spotlessly clean and again a wide choice of food available. We were also surprised at the cocktails being available on the all inclusive,( I think we went through the list quite a few times!).

The location of the hotel wasn't great, but it was only a bus ride into town and the buses run every 20 minutes.
The waiters worked so hard. As soon as your glass was empty they would ask if you wanted more drinks! They were all friendly and polite and great fun.

The only thing that spoilt our holiday was the fact that 3 of our party came down with ear infections, and 4 came down with dodgy tummys. And we know of at least 6 other people who came down with ear infections in the hotel. But the rep told us that all the pool etc had been tested and was all clear.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and all our teenagers would say the same.

We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful wedding and holiday at the Phaethon Beach Club Hotel. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left the hotel staff were fantastic.

On arrival we were allocated two rooms with a connecting door which was brilliant as our children are only 11 and 10. In our room was a bottle of champagne, bowl of fruit and a letter congratulating us on our forthcoming marriage.

The children loved every minute of the holiday and became good friends with the animation team who spent very long hours organising various competitions throughout the day and supplying the evening entertainment. Being all inclusive meant that they could help themselves to snacks, drinks and ice-creams throughout the day - brilliant!

We have a few family and friends join us for our wedding in the second week of our holiday. The hotel treated us like royalty and our wedding day was very special, when returning to the hotel from the town hall we arrived back to find a red carpet and the wedding march being played and all the staff clapped and cheered as we walked in. They had roped off the whole of the Atrium Bar for our wedding party, so that we could cut the cake and have a champagne toast. They also set out a table in a quiet area on the veranda for us to have lunch and also for us all to eat our evening meal, this was decorated with flowers. Anyone who is thinking of getting married abroad do so, as it is so romantic.

We could not fault the food, everyday it was excellent and even my 10 year old who is very fussy managed to find plenty of things to eat.

Our rooms were very clean and the maids very polite, we asked for extra pillows and within 10 minutes they were in our rooms.

Top marks to this hotel for making our wedding and holiday so enjoyable, we will be returning in a couple of years time to celebrate our anniversary!

We stayed here A/I for 2 weeks as a package for our wedding.

The hotel was kept clean and the staff were very helpful every way possible. Hotel was ok apart from the small room and bathrooms (Which I found hard on the wedding day. Getting ready with the 4 bridesmaids.)

Mosquitoes were also a huge problem we were bitten very badly. Which was a little bit of a pain as both of us were covered head to foot and it all showed up on the photos.

The hotel also didn

This was our third trip to Cyprus and our first to this hotel, maybe if we hadn't been to Cyprus before we wouldn't have been aware of the poor standards at this hotel. We would not return here again.

The pool being the main area used each day is far too small to cope when the hotel is busy (I heard the admin tell a rep it was 97% full) it was choc a block all day every day.

We made the mistake of booking a sea view room, big mistake we were regularly kept awake until 2am with people making full benefit of all inclusive alcohol singing at the top of their voices. People tend to come to this hotel in large groups because of weddings etc so a group of 20 at 2am can be very noisy. We regularly had to pass vomit on the stairwells from the previous evenings over indulgence. I watched one foreign couple allow there child to urinate at the side of the pool rather than take her to the toilet.

Evening entertainment for kids consisted of a 15min mini disco after that the kids had to sit down or shut up or run riot in the unsupervised TV room. If they dared go on the dance floor whilst bingo numbers were being called they were rather abruptly told to go sit down. In all entertainment was awful.

There seems to be a major problem with mozzies at this hotel, a lady we met had badly infected bites and she had to visit the doctor who informed her that all people visiting his surgery come from the Phaethon or the Imperial, both Louis hotels!! In a conversation with another holidaymaker they heard that the hotel had not been sprayed this year, I don't obviously know if this is true or not. We have travelled worldwide and never had a mossie bite until we arrived at this hotel, they are everywhere in the room, in the reception, my husband even got bitten whilst having his breakfast outside. So make sure you have double mossie protection if you go here. All you saw was people with big pink lumps all over them!!

The staff we found rude in comparison to other Cypriot hotels, if they knew you were going for the lift they would rush to get past you, jump in and go before you got to it.

My husband informed reception that we had lost money in the air hockey that didn't seem to be working, she very abruptly slammed a sheet of paper on the desk told him to sign and almost through the money back at him.

The waiter service was very slow and on one occasion I had a lumpy Pina Colado and many many glasses of flat cola.
Otherwise I cannot fault the food it was excellent and always served hot.

Everyone looks for different things in a holiday but this was definitely not the hotel for us, we were delighted to leave.

We have just arrived home from a fantastic two weeks in cyprus, my daughter got married in st george's chapel and had her reception back at the hotel, the ages in our group ranged from 5 to 70.

All in all there were eleven of us, it was a bit hot for the older members of the group but there was plenty of shade if you needed it.

The hotel management and staff were great, very friendly and helpfull especially on the day of the wedding nothing was to much trouble.

They even laid on a waiter for our drinks to save us having to go back and for to the bar, the mossies were a bit of a problem but no more than in other hotels that I have stayed in, the food was brilliant always hot and plentyfull, even the childrens corner had a selection, we found the waitress and waiters very very polite and helpful.t

The cold snacks at the end of the evening were only sandwiches which for a lot of people wasn't enough, the animation team worked very hard but the entertainment did let the hotel down.

All in all a brilliant holiday.

The Lake Wedding Party

Our party went for a wedding which was very nice and relaxed, the hotel staff are very good, always on hand to help if needed, nothing is too much trouble for them, the rooms were very clean and towels changed daily, with telephone, television, hairdrier, luggage storage, settee, chair and coffee table, although bathrooms are small they are adequate, with soap and shower gel filled daily.

The food is excellent and there is always something you can eat. Even for fussy eaters like myself, with a carvery most evenings, look round the restauraunt first before choosing your meal as you might miss something you would have wished to have, like roast beef and yorkshire pudding(to die for), also there is always greek specialities,(yummy), breakfast is great with the usual bacon egg and sausage, porridge, cereals and fruit and yogurt.

There is also a healthy eating and diabetic section with half fat cheese and butter, sugar free jam and no fat milk and yogurt, this is helpful if you are diabetic like myself.

When the breakfast finishes at 10am the poolbar opens with pizza, pasta, toasted sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, fruit and a good salad bar, sandwiches and any drink you want you help yourself to, and if you want a short there are bar staff on the bar, this is open until 6pm so if you dont feel you want to move off your sunbed to go to the restaurant you can have lunch here, just to mention that men must wear long trousers and a sleeved top for evening meals.

The entertainment during the day was great and the entertainment team work very hard to get you to join in the fun, but if you dont want to its ok, on some nights the entertainment was ok to good and other nights a bit dire, although 10 out of 10 for the team.

The childrens club was good with activities during the morning and the afternoon, culminating with a kiddies disco in the nightclub before the entertainment starts for the adults, there is also a babysitting service if required.

Although I usually have an aversion to kids, this being a family holiday and a family hotel,i found it not to bad really.

The only downside to this hotel is the beach which isnt realy a beach, just a bit of rubble which you can't sunbathe on, the upside is the waiting staff in the Atrium bar, they are from other countries like slovakia and nepal, and they are employed on a training scheme for 12 months, and I must say they are very good, always wandering around with a tray asking if you would like anything to drink, and always with a smile.

I have been all inclusive to hotels in other countries and found this to be the best to date and I would not hesitate to re book this hotel in the future.

We arrived late at night but a drink and sandwiches awaited us in our room. The room was a good size but the bathroom small. As we had a 1st floor room the balcony was large - larger than the bathroom. The room was kept clean, towels replaced daily and the sheets a couple of times a week. The room was in need of some TLC - especially the bathroom as the gloss paint on and around the doors was peeling. There was a TV in the room and the only English channel being Sky News but with all the sunshine available who wants to stay in their room and watch TV?

Breakfast had a good selection - English and continental including Greek yoghurt. You could eat outside on the patio or inside the restaurant.

Lunch in the restaurant was cool as the air-conditioning would be on! Soup, salad or Humous/Taramasalata to start, a selection of hot food and salads. Deserts included gateau, cheesecakes, creme caramel, jelly & ice-cream, cheese & biscuits and sometimes hot sweets such as bread & butter pudding, rice pudding and Cypriot donuts.

Dinner again cool with the air-conditioning on and again you could eat out on the patio. Same arrangement as lunchtime but the main courses were different (chicken, fish , meat - some English style some Cyprot) and included vegetables, rice, lentils/pulses and potatoes.

Pool bar & restaurant opened at 10 am where you helped yourself to cold drinks, beer, hot drinks, ice-cream, salads, sandwiches and hot food. There was always pizza, chips, burgers etc. At lunch-time a limited selection of the restaurant main courses. After 2.30 pm jacket potatoes with various hot fillings or spaghetti Bolognaise.

The pool was large enough to accomodate all ages. Shallow end where the kids played including an area seperated by metal railings used by parents with babies/toddlers. The deep end was 3.30 metres mainly used by adults or older children who could swim. Water polo was played every day at 11.30am in the deep end and Aquagym in the shallow end at 3.30 pm. You could use inlatable toys or lilo's.

There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool, some by the beach and plenty in the gardens. The beach was small with very few swimmers as too much sea weed to walk through on the shore line. Water sports were available on the beach.

The bars were all waiter service and generally quick unless you arrived at opening time in the evening (5.30pm) A different cocktail on offer each day as well as a choice of others if you did not like the cocktail of the day.

The Vienna Cafe offered hot, cold and alcoholic drinks from 10am. Again this was waiter service. The cafe also included an internet cafe with pc games and a TV.

The Animation Team worked hard around the pool area by day offering different games including archery, rifle shooting, shuffle board, darts, keep fit, football etc. By night the Animation Team ran the nightly kids disco at 8.30pm, bingo at 9pm and then a show at 10am. They worked very hard but the show was not sung live just dancing to various musical show songs. Some nights were different either a Magic Show or Karaoke.

There was a kids club from 10am - 12 noon and then 3pm - 5pm. The kids disco was followed by kids cinema at 9pm.

There was also a gym, indoor pool and whirlpool bath.

The hotel staff were all friendly and looked after you well. The public areas were decorated to a good standard and included a shop, car hire office as well as an optican's as spectacles are about half the price of the UK! I did not think that the hotel bedrooms were of 4* standard due to the decor but the rest of the hotel did come upto standard. I am glad that we only paid half the brochure price for our all inclusive holiday as we booked last minute. I would have been disappointed if we had paid full price.

The Thomson reps - Yes sometimes there were 2, were available twice a day except on airport duty days. We did not have the need to speak to them apart from saying hello.

A lovely holiday in a good hotel. The location might not suit all as the hotel is the last one in East Paphos. All shops & bars are a walk or bus ride away. The buses were air-conditioned, frequent and cheap either 72p for the no 11 to the harbour and then the market or 83p for the no 15 to the harbour and then to Coral Bay.

Second time at this hotel and it seems to have got better.

Food great(hot and good selection). Staff could not do enough for you, local beer or Carlsberg. Best cocktails we have ever had.

Downside is the entertainment in the evening when the children seem to take over the night club.

If you go in the sea take old trainers with you as it is very rocky but with something on your feet you can enjoy the sea.

I will be going back so manager (you know who I am talking about)look out.

This was our first visit to Cyprus, so we picked the Louis Phaethon on a a/i basis.

This is a large hotel but you could always find a quiet spot if you wanted one. First the rooms were tidy but you could see slight wear and tear in the room, plenty of draw space, wardrobe a bit small, tip take extra coat hangers.

Hotel pool was great very big lots of sun loungers yet you still get people putting towels on beds early in the morning, I dont know why.

The Atrium bar is a nice place to relax and have a drink, waiter service is good all the staff were friendly. Evening shows start at 8.30pm with kids disco 1/2 hr, then bingo 3/4 hr then about 10pm the shows, boy oh boy were they hard work, got to give them 10 out of 10 for effort, and 4 out of 10 entertainment value. In the 2 weeks not one show did anyone sing (exept karoke) it was all mime and dance.

Just got back. The staff and entainment crew were fantastic. The bar and restaurant staff are nearly always there as you finish your drinks or food to clearaway the empties, the bar staff asif you need another drink.

We would recommend that when you go into the restaurant to take a moment to have a look at all the food before making a choice as there are different choices of meals.

I would recommend the chefs specials. Pool was cold but you warm up after a short while. The entertainment crew are brilliant and try and get everyone involved in the various games - air rifle shooting, archery, french bowls, killer darts, shuffleboard.

Fun and games and also a quiz if you are lucky to win you get a certificate awarded before the bingo.

Brill hoiliday and the rest of the guest were also friendly.
