Having just arrived back from our holiday at the Punto Jablillo on the 14th April 2005 I can honestly say that all the bad reports that I had read had made me wonder what on earth we had let ourselves in for.

HOWEVER when we arrived ( all 20 of us. as it was a surprise for my 40th birthday ) we found that the hotel receptionist spoke adequate english and was very helpful in explaining the location of our room.

Upon entering our room on the second floor my wife and i commented on the overall presentation and the view of the sea and pool area was great.

The kitchen area was clean and looked as though there had been recently fitted new units and worktops.
CONTRARY to earlier reviews there were no broken tiles, there were no cockroaches the bathroom was clean and presentable, the wardrobes were not broken and everything worked perfectly. If we had one small complaint it would be that there wasn`t really enough hot water to go round at peak times however this problem is a common one in a lot of resorts.

POOL...The pool was clean and checked every morning for chlorine content, this i know because i saw them checking it myself whilst i was sat on the balcony at 6am having a fag. The pool was cold but that didn`t stop us going in.
FOOD.. There was a good selection of food to cater for everyone however some days it could have been hotter. The roast pork was lovely.. If I had to complain about anything it would be that I have put on 7lbs in one week...
REPS....The reps were very friendly and went out of their way to help in any way they could and always had a smile and a hello for everyone.

ENTERTAINMENT... There was a kids disco and sing-a-long which they all seemed to enjoy.. Other entertainment could have been better and maybe the bar could have stayed open for longer..

BAR STAFF... Were absolutly fantastic, very friendly especially Abdul, a credit to the hotel

MAID SERVICE... cleaned every day with beds made and clean towels twice or three times.. also quite bizzarely they even changed the shower curtain which was a first for us!
OVERALL... All 20 of us had a really great time and would recomend it to families especially.

We would like to thank all the staff at Thomas Cook, Albion St, Leeds for making this holiday special.

We stayed for one week all inclusive. The food was excellent. Good variety and all was kept well stocked and renewed.

The place was kept clean and tidy the maid service was excellent. The only thing that makes the place untidy is people not putting rubbish in one of the many bins, and the Lanzarote breeze blowing it round.

The location is fantastic. Nice and flat with lovely beaches and clean sea. Shops and beach are less than 5 minute walk.

Staff are friendly and helpful.

We did not use the entertainment but it sounded ok.

I would definitely go back again.

This was our 2nd visit to Punta Jablillo, and after reading some of the reports was slightly worried but we needn't have been.

Our room was cleaned every alternate day with a change of towels once during our 1 wk stay. Wouldn't say the apartments are dirty at all, just that they are rather basic and could do with some updating. The pools were cleaned daily but were cold.

The food was good but not great, it does get a bit repetative and not a lot of choice for children (hope they like chips), however there is plenty of it and you can help yourself as many times as you like. As we had visited here before we knew what to expect so had already decided to eat breakfast and lunch here and then go out in the evening.

The staff were always helpful and spoke brilliant english, although the maids understand sign language better!

Stanley and Leia (S & L), the entertainers, worked really hard trying to get everyone involved in the daytime and evening activities. Daytime activities included killer pool, french boules, water polo, water bingo and rifle shooting to name a few. Evening entertainment consisted of 45mins of kids disco, half hour bingo session and either a show or S & L entertaining us. We were out most nights but did manage to catch S & L doing Grease (very good) and their Tropical Night (funny). Their job is made easier if people are willing to join in. If nobody wants to participate then they have got a tough job on their hands.

Punta Jablillo boasts a fantastic location right on the sea front and only a couple of minutes walk to shops, restaurants and the beach. We had great weather during our stay however it can become chilly in the evenings so take a cardi.

This all inclusive complex cost us the same as any self catering apartments in this resort and your food and drink is included. We will definately go again.

The rooms are ok, but very tired, with the wardrobe doors not working.

The rooms were cleaned 5 out of the 7 days, but being all inclusive we didn't take our own towels and the ones they supplied were awful.

Being a vegetarian I could not recommend this hotel. The food is not separated into meat and non meat dishes so there is meat or fish spilled into most dishes and not only by residents.

The entertainment was dreadful unless you were under 6 years old. It is held in the bar area but as they only have the one bar you either have to listen to it or go out. Then to cap it all on Saturday afternoon they put the amplifier outside so you couldn't even sit in the sun in peace!! The bar shuts at midnight, but after 11pm you can only get a drink in a plastic cup and the bar staff start dragging the tables around thus making you feel most un-welcome trying to have a drink.

The worst thing though was the staff smoking in the toilets then going back serving meals and not washing their hands!!!!!

This hotel is almost a hidden gem, situated in the shadow of the over-powering and almost grotesque Costa Teguise Playa Occidental Hotel (the Teguise Playa Hotel a hotel that would suit the big city, but not a seaside resort as pleasant as Costa Teguise).

Punta Jablillo fits into the local building planning superbly with 3 floors at its highest (beside the pool) and mostly just 2 floors.

Access to the building is adequate to wheel your case or wheelchair around the complex with ramps placed everywhere that they are needed.

There is usually a warm welcome in the reception with good English spoken. A lounge area is situated in this area with the only fault being a pool table between reception and bar. The Reps desk is also in reception. Thomas Cook have 2 excellent reps in this hotel, Angie and Laura have only been at the PJ for a few weeks and did a great job from what I saw during my week there.

The bar is situated beside the reception, excellently manned by Jose (aka the Halifax man due to his resemblance to the man in the Halifax TV ads) with 2 younger lads.

The restaurant was always clean and the food of a good standard. My main concern about the restaurant was the lack of space between the tables and the self service food tables. These heated tables were set down the centre of the room and may be better situated at the end nearest the kitchen. The staff were always quick to clear plates etc from the tables, which was a small irritant (you may get up to go for a drink, for example, and come back to find your plate cleared. Never leave your table unattended.

The pool is in front of the food hall. The pool was one of the cleanest pools I have ever seen. There were also adequate sun beds.

Beside the restaurant and the pool is a grill and bar where snacks and drinks could be obtained outside restaurant / bar times. There is superb seating space with a good amount of rubbish receptacles. The only time I saw this area untidy was when a family had just arrived at the hotel and chose to let numerous plates and plastic glasses blow from their table. The annoying thing was that the family had been sat beside a rubbish bin and were too lazy (and ignorant) to dispose of their rubbish properly.

A good supply of drink is available from this outside bar, but the choice of food is a little disappointing. Hamburgers one day and hot dogs the next, sadly there is not a vegetarian choice. One of the reps has requested they take action and include something else for veggies.

The rooms are of a good standard with bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and lounge / extra sleeping area well maintained. They are cleaned regularly too an excellent standard. The only downside is that one row of rooms has a bar (King Arthur
