We arrived at 3:30 a.m. and were overwhelmed by the appearance of this hotel. By the end of our stay we were less impressed.
On the plus side the food is much better than we expected and the building work did not affect us that much. We knew before going that there was no entertainment but apart from the pool area there was absolutely nothing for our 7 year old grandson so go next door to the Belle Vue where there is pool and table tennis.
It is well sited, just a short walk from the bustling resort centre and far away enough not to be affected by the all-night bars.
My main complaint must be the staff.
Apart from a very small minority of friendly people they are definitely the most ignorant, surly and downright unpleasant bunch of individuals I have ever met!

For anyone reading these reviews please do not be put off going to the Victoria Palace. We were there last week, I was dreading going after reading the reports and was pleasantly suprised.
The hotel is amazing, absolutely stunning. The staff - if you are polite and friendly treat you in the same way. The girls in the bar don't leave much to the imagination and are a bit stand offish but everyone else is very helpful and happy.
The food is not great but my advice is have a nice lunch out (all very cheap) and then use the hotel half board for a snack later in the day.
The pool area is amazing, generally a beautiful hotel. It is being constantly cleaned, the maids never stop.
The entertainment is non existent but the reviews about the pianist were unfair. I would like to see how many people could play solid for three hours. The bars have music in them so for better nightlife go into the main square where there is plenty going on.
All in all a great place. So as long as you don't expect Gordon Ramsey style dinners you will get on just fine!
The only other thing is to be fore warned that at the moment Bulgaria is a massive building site with lots of new hotels going up, it didn't effect us and it won't you unless you are going to sit in a hotel room?
Enjoy the leopard skin carpet. Pure class!!

Best holiday I have ever been on.
Staff were excellent, cleaning? they never stopped.
Food was lovely lots to select from.
Location was good every thing was mainly very, very, very cheap

I went to Victoria Palace in June 2005 and hoping to return this August.
Nine of us went to the hotel. My friends had been twice before. We had a great two weeks and was not disapointed by the the hotel. To be honest when i arrived i was speakless by the decor of the main reception and the rooms, The brochures do the hotel no justice.
The hotel is stunning in its own right. Very very clean and rooms fantastic.Food can be unsual but you could never go hungry.
The main strip were all the bars and restaurants are, the reps working for the bars etc can be very pushy but after a while you get used to it.
On the whole a holiday that was fantastic! Bulgaria is definatley worth a try!!!!!

Victoria Palace is a 5* hotel which lives up to the rating. It looks impressive and is impressive.
We were there at the start of the season and unfortunately all the amenities were not up & running.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable and could not be faulted.
The meals are buffet style, dinner would have between 8 - 10 choices of main courses, so one would be very fussy not to find something - although the standard would not be 5* as generally accepted.
The main fault I had with it was that although it advertised both Credit Card facilities & Internet room as being available, this was in their dreams only.
Their spa facilities rate with the best in the world in my opinion. - but I was disappointed to find that residents had to pay to use the indoor pool, which is in my opinion very petty.
One night I left my purse on a settee in the foyer, next evening the staff had it for me - I was impressed.
It is the best hotel there.

Far and away the best room we have ever stayed in - if a little bizarre (leopard skin skirting boards?). The hotel is done out in a kind of African Nubian style and is very nice.
Hotel is kept very clean and the linen/towels changed daily.
As others have said before me, the sunbed situation around the pool is ridiculous and the water was freezing when we were there. One other point about the pool area. The beer sold at the bar is the worst I've ever tasted - flat & warm & expensive.
The food can get boring but there is always something you can eat and the breakfast is downright good.
The staff are OK when things are going well but buck-passers when things are going wrong - and disappear when things really go belly-up.
There is no, repeat no, entertainment.

Having read the reviews and been to the Victoria palace I would warn every one not to go. We spent two weeks in the so called palace!
The food was cold even if you had a table.
The beds had sheets that did not fit, and we had leaks in our room.
On the first day in Sunny Beach we had spoken to many people who had been ill and even on drips. By the fourth day my wife was confined to bed for a week...on a drip. I was then taken ill myself the doctor told us we had become one of many in the hotel who were ill. Even after writing a report in resort and when we returned Airtours told us they knew nothing of any problems at the Victoria palace, and we must have taken the illness with us.
I will never travel with Airtours again or go back to this hotel.

It was clean but this was due to the only happy members of staff, the maids, the rest were rude.
Food was a disgrace it was cold on many occasions and had to be re heated in microwaves which is dangerous from a hygiene point.
The only entertainment was a sad person on a piano.
I will not visit this hotel again and I have written to complain to First Choice.
I would rate this hotel as a two star

The food was disgusting, the staff ignorant except the maids who where cheerful.
The drinks in the hotel were 2 or 3 times dearer than anywhere else. The phone in the rooms are very expensive.
The hotel was about 1 and a half miles away from the centre, the shops you had to pass on the way to the centre sold all the same stuff.
At the end of my stay I was glad to come home.
