Get a ground room floor as it will help as there are no lifts to the other floors so it can be a bit of a walk with a pram.
Make sure on the strip you visit the Meze restaurant with the funny symbols in the name. It is one of the best Meze places in Protaras. Also Molti was a great restaurant to stay in.

Penera has reached saturation point with its building plans.
Areas are now being joined up with roads and promenades that have given the area a lift that it required.

When you go into protaras it is nice,beaches are nice but a tight squeeze to get onto one.

If you like to be in a commercial area with lots of Elvis/Michael Jackson impersonaters then this is the resort for you. Unfortunately not being to Cyprus before I was looking for something more traditional from the resort. A day trip to the 'Troodas mountains' was definately worth a visit. The best attraction about Protarus was the beach and the sea as this was faultless with beautiful turquoise waters and plenty of watersports on offer.

The resort of Protaras is perfect for anyone wishing for a holiday with a variety of things on offer. The beaches are clean and the sea like glass. The main street has many bars and restaurants if you wish to take advantage of this type of holiday. Otherwise there are also many quiet places. The transport is excellent with buses that go to the other resorts and the fare is very reasonable. About 1 or 2 euros each way. There are lots of trips available to the historic parts of Protaras and neighbouring towns.

We have been to Panera 7 times absoultely beautiful part of Cyprus, the new walkway from Panera to Protaras is fantastic and the people are second to none. Avery special place.

A nice enough resort but nothing special, just the normal shops, restaurants and bars mainly with karaoke running all night. The prices for items were pretty much the same as England with supermarket produce often more expensive.
The main difference from the Spanish resorts is that air conditioning is not the normal in Cyprus in restaurants and bars so it's so hot at peak season that it's really uncomfortable at times.
The Flamingo beach was nice but they were crammed in like sardines at Fig tree bay so you could not get a bed even if you wanted one.
I would go back to Protaras at some point but it was not as special as I thought it would be and would not be top of my list for another holiday destination in the near future.
