Booked as a last minuet deal supposedly 4* more like 1* room was tired and dirty beds looked like they had seen better days sheets and covers torn we took one look at the food and decided that was it . We contacted our rep and were moved within 2 hours of ariving to the intercontinental fantastic real 5* luxury. I would never go to the TOPAS again and would never recomend it.

my family and i were unfortunate enough to stay at the topaz hotel, bugibba,malta.....the only thing that saved this stay was the food! the decor in the rooms was simply depressing, the twenty year old tv in the room should have been on the antiques roadshow...it didn,t work! as far as the location was concerned, i,m afraid i cannot comment as myself and my family were house in a subsiduary building sourced by an underground tunnel,away from the advertised hotel itself! the staff at the front arrivals desk were amongst the most unhelpful and ignorant,uncaring,people i have ever had the misfortune to meet. finally i believe the 1 for entertainment to be flattery on behalf of the hotel.....it consisted of one cd being played more or less day and night for 7 days....attrocious! other problems were plentiful including: the room not being ready till 4pm on my arrival,the permenantly out of order lift and view out of my room which anyone can email me for( if they,ve got the stomach ) the cockroaches, the 7.00am queue for the limited supply of sunbeds, the lack of funds in the hotel till....they hadn,t got enough to reimburse, my massive 5 lira deposit on safe key, the constant noise at nightime....the list goes on...an absolute sixteen hundred pounds wasted!!!!!!!!!!!! four star? forget it

Molly & Poppy's dad here.
You get out of a holiday what you put in and we had a wonderful time there.
The hotel was, by the state of the town outside 4 star and our room was clean and tidy everyday.
The food was cracking and the chefs did a wonderful job keeping the options varied and always stocked up (man cutting meat could do with an electric knife though). The bar staff were amazing in all bars and worked liked Trojans.
The entertainment wasn't up to much but try telling that to my Molly and all the other little girls who now know everyone of the dances performed by The Animation Team. You get what you pay for and value for money this was a really good holiday.
My only gripe worth mentioning, was being locked in until 0800 hrs and then the mad rush for the sun beds on letting out time.
A big thank you to all the parents and children (Briony, Jess, Adele, Hanna and everyone one else I've forgot to mention) for paying such attention to my girls and helping them enjoy themselves so much.

Just returned from a fortnight at the Topaz and whilst it is not the best 4 star hotel you will find it is not the worst.
Food was very good,room was clean and staff were always helpful,we did not have a problem with noise and the air con kept the room lovely and cool.
I think for the money we paid

I have stayed at the Topaz hotel 4 times, I love it!!!
The bar staff and waiters are excellent especially Paul, Brian, Anthony, Kevin, and Zavier, who I have got to know well since I started going in 1998.

Stayed in the Topaz twice, purely as a base. The foyer is excellent, apart from the sticky sun-tan lotion drenched soft furnishings, 1st time room was shabby but livable, the 2nd year was slightly better.
Tried breakfast once, that was enough, it appeared to be a random selection of under or overcooked food, sufficient selection though. Staff were friendly and quite helpful.
Will return this year, but not to the Topaz I'm afraid...

Older style hotel quite comfortable if a little tired in certain aspects such as lifts. Rooms were kept really clean, The food was what would be expected from an all inclusive deal but none the worse for that. The location of the hotel is five or ten minutes stroll from the sea and bars but certainly a comfortable distance only.
The staff in the main were friendly and helpful.
The entertainment is somewhat basic and unlikely to be the reason for going to this hotel.
Overall a good standard basic hotel with little actually to complain about.
If your not expecting The Ritz when you arrive this is a good hotel for all.

The food was plentiful and varied. The temperature of the food on display was constantly being checked and when we complained about one dish being cold it was immediately replaced.
The hotel in general was very clean and our rooms were large, new and clean.
The location was about 10 mins (slow) walk to the square, 2 mins to the bus stop, but is near lots of friendly bars.
We didn't see the entertainment as we were out and about every day and night

We've stayed in the Topaz for the last 4 years and love it. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. The maid service is good and towells changed daily. If your room needs extra cleaning just remember to hang the tag on your door handle.
Although we were self catering, we ate in the hotel a few times and the restaurant and Pizzeria were excellent. Sorry we cannot comment on the entertaiment as we went out. The location is good, only a 5-10 minute stroll to the sea.

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Topaz, and what a great time we had. The hotel was clean and tidy, infact sections were being redecorated as we were there.
Food was one of the high points for me, always a big choice of main courses, I mean at least 6 main dishes, with plenty of scope for mix and matching. I saw regular checks on freshness and quality. Where did this chips with everything report come from! I hardly saw any. For a buffet style service, this was great.
Location was ok but to be fair we rented a car and went off every day.
Staff were great, really looked after our 8 and 6 year old, even the barstaff insisted on showering them with free crisps and things.
Entertainment, sorry we went out most nights, so can't comment.
So to sum the Topaz up, we'll probably come back next year...
